Chapter 7 Getting Married
"Do you know Gu Qiuhan?" Gu Qiuyue noticed Xie Shiyu looking at her strangely and quickly changed her words, "I mean, do you know my brother?"
Xie Shiyu: “…Yes.”
Gu Qiuyue: "Are you comrades? Do you have a good relationship?"
Xie Shiyu's answer was serious: "We are all comrades." He leaned back slightly on the sofa, and his posture seemed to say: There is no need to talk about this.
Gu Qiuyue rolled her eyes at him and changed the subject: "The recommendation letter that Mr. Tang wrote for me was destroyed. I have to go back to the countryside to farm in a few days."
Xie Shiyu felt an inexplicable pity in his heart, but he still kept his mouth shut and said nothing.
Seeing that he still didn't respond, Gu Qiuyue's face flashed with determination: "Captain Xie, are you single?"

Gu Qiuyue rolled her eyes inwardly. This man was truly unyielding. She took a deep breath, leaned forward slightly, and looked directly into Xie Shiyu's eyes. Her voice was clear and filled with desperate determination: "Captain Xie, I don't want to go back to the countryside to farm, but Elder Tang's letter of recommendation has been ruined. Under the current circumstances, he can't make any other arrangements for me."
"Aren't you very clear about the consequences of destroying the letter? But you still did it. Why?" Xie Shiyu put down the teacup and looked directly at Gu Qiuyue, afraid to miss any emotion in her eyes.
"This... didn't I say that I have my own difficulties?" Gu Qiuyue looked at Xie Shiyu. Why was this man so unreasonable? Who would talk about their difficulties so carelessly?
The living room fell silent again for a while. The sound of rain outside made Gu Qiuyue more and more irritated. She once again thought of her own ending in the plot and frowned.
Xie Shiyu, who had been watching her out of the corner of his eyes, suddenly felt an urge to smooth her brows.
Just when he didn't know how to comfort Gu Qiuyue, Gu Qiuyue spoke again: "Captain Xie, if you are single and have no engagement or fiancée, can you marry me!"
This time, Xie Shiyu almost choked on his own saliva. He pointed at Gu Qiuyue in disbelief and asked, "Do you know what you are saying?" Although he asked stern words, there seemed to be a little man dancing in his heart. Even his expressionless face for many years flashed a moment of surprise. The corners of his mouth raised slightly, and his eyes seemed brighter than before.
But Gu Qiuyue, immersed in her own thoughts, didn't notice any of this. Having said that, she simply said, "I know this request is a bit unreasonable, but it's the best solution I can think of right now. If you want to refuse, just pretend I never said anything."
Xie Shiyu did not respond immediately. His deep gaze could only see the top of Gu Qiuyue's head, which was slightly lowered. His fingers tapped lightly on his knees from time to time. The subtle rhythm seemed to be calculating something. Once again, the only sounds in the living room were the sound of rain outside the window and the suffocating silence.
Finally, when Gu Qiuyue could no longer endure this suspenseful torment, Xie Shiyu moved. He slowly stood up, his tall figure instantly bringing a strong sense of oppression, enveloping Gu Qiuyue on the sofa. His eyes fell heavily on her face, and his eyes were as deep as a bottomless cold pond.
"Comrade Gu Qiuyue," his voice was still low, but it carried an invisible, heavy force that clearly struck her tense nerves. "Military marriage," he pronounced these two words particularly clearly, "is not a joke. What does it mean? Do you know?" His eyes were as sharp as a knife, as if to cut open her soul.
"I know," Gu Qiuyue breathed a sigh of relief. "I will be your family member in public and won't hold you back. If you meet the right person in the future, you can divorce me at any time. I will be a qualified ex and disappear from your sight forever."
"Remember what you said." Anger was surging in Xie Shiyu's eyes, and then he went to Wu Cheng to borrow a phone.
Gu Qiuyue stared at his angry background in a daze. What had she said wrong? Isn't a good ex supposed to be like dead? It was really baffling.
The sofa was a little far from the telephone. Gu Qiuyue could only see Xie Shiyu standing upright with his back to her, talking to the other end of the phone. However, she could not hear clearly the voice he was talking to. During this time, Xie Shiyu turned around and glanced at her. It was this indifferent look that made Gu Qiuyue feel her heart beating wildly in her chest, almost breaking her ribs.
She was upset and restless, so she simply stood up and walked to the porch leading to the backyard from the living room to get some fresh air. Looking at the dense rain and fog outside, Gu Qiuyue's reason for running away from home finally returned. Why did she sell herself out like this?
She wasn't the original Gu Qiuyue; she was Gu Qiuyue from decades later. Even if this era had its limitations, the college entrance exam would be open in just two more years. Besides, wasn't there so much treasure in that dimension she'd unexpectedly acquired? Even if she returned to the countryside, she should be able to live well. Why was she so desperate to tie herself to a man?
The choices people make on impulse are indeed unreliable. Although the man is not only handsome and has a good figure, but also serves in the army, these cannot guarantee a person's character. Will she get herself into trouble?
I wonder if it’s too late to go in and stop it now?
Gu Qiuyue is a person with strong execution ability. She does it immediately when she thinks of it. She was about to return to the living room to find Xie Shiyu, but she didn't expect that Xie Shiyu also came to find her. The two met at the door of the living room.
He had finished the call, and his deep gaze fell on her face, with a barely perceptible inquiry.
Without waiting for Gu Qiuyue to speak, Xie Shiyu said, "The application has been approved..."
"What? It was approved with just one phone call?" Gu Qiuyue blurted out.
"What? You're the one who wants to get married, but now that my marriage application has been approved, you don't want to get married anymore? Do you think military marriage is a joke?" Besides anger, there was also an imperceptible sense of loss in Xie Shiyu's eyes. Did she regret it so soon?
Realizing her words had angered Xie Shiyu, she quickly changed her tone, "I'm saying, isn't a military marriage still subject to political review? I heard it's common for a marriage report to take a month or two to come out, so I find it incredible."
