Just as Chu Xue finished tidying up the house, she heard a voice from the courtyard gate: "Deputy Factory Director Gu, what brings you here?"
Deputy Factory Director Gu said with an embarrassed look, "Comrade Fu, I came to look for Comrade Chuxue, but I don't know if she's home."
Fu Yancheng glanced into the room and said, "Come in."

He certainly wouldn't call his superiors right now to report the good news. He needed to let them know how difficult it was to make this happen. He guessed that the military would surely send word soon.
Sure enough, not long after he left, Fu's mother rushed over, saying she needed to see Yancheng because of something at the military base.
Chu Xue probably guessed as much as she could, so she didn't follow.
