Chapter 1253 An Unexpected Joy

Chapter 1253 An Unexpected Joy

The foreign business delegation was originally scheduled to stay in Beijing for a week, but because Chuxue took over, Anna ended up staying for three more days.

During these three days, thanks to Chuxue's intentional or unintentional guidance, Anna developed a strong interest in Chinese culture, especially Chinese porcelain and silk. This led Anna to immediately decide to postpone her return home. The team's next stop is Suzhou and Hangzhou, and afterwards, she wants to personally go to Jingdezhen to select a batch of porcelain to bring back home as gifts.

Chu Xue was originally reluctant to go because she is pregnant, but Anna insisted. The main reason was that her baby was being considerate and had not experienced any significant morning sickness so far. In addition, she really wanted to see what Suzhou and Hangzhou were like in the 1970s.

Chu Xue didn't immediately agree. She called Fu Yancheng and explained the situation: "Yancheng, do you think I should go with him?"

Fu Yancheng's face showed worry. His wife was pregnant now, and he really didn't want her to travel any more. But if he stopped her, what if she got upset and it would affect her mood? He said, "As long as your health allows, do whatever you want, as long as you're happy."

Chu Xue stammered, "If I go with them, it will probably take ten days to half a month. Do your comrades know that I am going to join the army soon? Aren't you afraid they will misunderstand you?"

She hadn't shown her face since the wedding, and her comrades had been gossiping about it a lot. Now that they'd finally invited her and made promises, she went, but then she was nowhere to be seen again. They're probably going to tease Fu Yancheng about it again.

Fu Yancheng laughed at this moment: "It's an honor for you to accompany me on this trip and earn more foreign exchange for the country. I'm afraid they won't laugh at me. They'll be so envious."

The two chatted for a few more minutes before hanging up.

Because her home was a bit far from the Friendship Hotel, and she had also informed the staff of the Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation Bureau that she was newly pregnant, the staff of the Bureau booked her a room as well. For the past few days, her food and lodging have been the same as the other staff members who were traveling with her.

She had just finished making the call and was about to go back to her room when she heard someone call out to her: "Comrade Chuxue."

Chu Xue turned around and saw the foreign trade staff in charge of the reception: "Section Chief Lü, Officer Qu, is there something you need from me?"

Section Chief Lü spoke first: "Comrade Chuxue, what are your thoughts on Miss Anna's suggestion?"

Having already made up her mind, she didn't put on airs anymore. After all, it was a publicly funded trip, and she was actually quite willing to accept it: "I have no objections and will obey the organization's arrangements."

Both men breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing Chuxue's words and showed their sincerity: "Comrade Chuxue, we know about your situation. Don't worry, the ministry will book soft sleeper berths for you both ways, so you won't be too tired."

Chu Xue was even happier to hear that: "Thank you then."

To her even greater surprise, the next morning, as soon as she opened her door, she saw Fu Yancheng dressed in plain clothes: "What are you doing here?"

Fu Yancheng's eyes were full of tenderness: "For the safety of the delegation in China, the higher-ups sent a small team to accompany them and be responsible for security. I fought for this mission."

First Snow was surprised by this good news: "Really?"

Seeing how happy she was, Fu Yancheng said, "I'm already here, what do you say?"

Chu Xue reached out to hug him, but Fu Yancheng, who usually clung to her whenever they met, took a step back and said, "Mind the occasion."

Fearing that Chuxue might misunderstand, he quickly added, "I'm on a mission."

She had originally intended to tease him, but seeing someone walking this way, she glanced at him sideways and said, "Thank you for your hard work, Battalion Commander Fu."

Seeing his bewildered expression, I chuckled to myself: You little rascal.
