Chapter 98: Old Lady Liu Beats Her Granddaughter

Old Mrs. Liu always felt that the two sisters Liu Ya seemed to have changed recently.

Old Lady Liu suspected that the two little girls had stolen something, but she couldn't find any evidence.

The Liu family has two sons. Old Mrs. Liu favors the younger son. As a result, the older son is more promising and goes to work in the county town.

What made her even more angry was that her eldest son took his wife and son to the county town.

Ever since that woman got married, the eldest son has been alienated from her! Now she has even moved out with her son.

How can this be possible?

But there was no other way. The eldest brother said that the environment in the county town was good and he wanted his son to study there so that he would have a bright future. He would also pay half of his salary every month to subsidize the family.

Old Mrs. Liu had no choice but to let her daughter go, but she didn't allow them to take her daughter away, otherwise who would do the housework?

So they could only watch helplessly as Liu Lao Da and his wife moved to the county town.

Old Mrs. Liu was so angry that she took it out on the twin daughters of the eldest family. She didn't allow them to go out and only allowed them to do housework at home.

They were also not allowed to study, saying they were wasting money.

Originally, the money left by Old Lady Liu was to cover the tuition and living expenses of the two sisters, but in the end it was all subsidized to the youngest son by Old Lady Liu.

Old Lady Liu's youngest son had already married and had children. The couple were not easy to deal with. They were often sarcastic and mocking towards the two sisters, and beating and scolding them was common.

Old Lady Liu's daughter-in-law particularly likes to bully Liu Ya and often beats her with the soles of her shoes.

"You stupid girl, are you slacking off again today?" Old Lady Liu ran in angrily after finishing work and didn't see Liu Ya. She kicked Liu Ya who was lying on the bed and said, "You stupid girl, get up and work."

Liu'er next to them was also woken up and startled. The two sisters had just finished their work and were lying down to rest, but they didn't expect to be caught red-handed.

Liu Ya, who had just fallen asleep, was awakened by the pain. She sat up and rubbed her sore and red shoulders: "Grandma, why did you kick me again?"

When Old Lady Liu heard this, she became even angrier. This girl was simply outrageous. She even dared to talk back to her grandmother.

"You little bitch, do you know you're wrong? If you don't admit your mistake, I'll tear your stinky mouth apart."

Liu Ya looked confused, not knowing what she had done wrong.

Old Lady Liu pinched her face and said, "Look at your face. Did you eat something secretly?"

Liu Ya's heart trembled. During this short period of time, Yu Li always secretly gave them food, and her originally skinny face from hunger looked a little more normal.

"No...no." Liu Ya answered in a low voice.

Old Lady Liu snorted coldly, "You damned girl, you won't cry until you see the coffin, right? If you don't explain clearly, I will peel off your skin."

Liu Ya couldn't help but shudder and said guiltily, "I really didn't. Don't worry, I definitely wouldn't steal food."

"Pa" a slap landed hard on Liu Ya's cheek.

"You silly girl, you're still lying to me. Tell the truth quickly! Otherwise, don't even think about eating tonight." Old Lady Liu said harshly, her tone high and sharp, full of intimidation.

Liu Ya covered her swollen left cheek, suppressed the grievance in her heart, and said with red eyes: "I really didn't."

Liu Er rushed to Liu Ya and said, "Grandma, we really didn't steal the food. It was Yu Li who brought us food every day."

Originally, Liu Ya was very touched that her sister stood in front of her, but when she heard Liu Er's words, she looked flustered.

She quickly stopped him: "Liu'er, stop talking."

When Old Lady Liu heard about the people from the Yu family, she became even angrier. You know, she hated the Yu family the most. She didn't expect that her granddaughter would actually associate with people from the Yu family.

"Okay, Liu Ya, you have learned to lie too! I told you not to go out, but you sneaked out, right?" After saying that, Old Lady Liu picked up the broom at hand and hit Liu Ya hard.

Liu Ya held her head and let the broom fall on her.

"Grandma, please, let us go! We didn't get out."

Liu Ya cried and begged.

But Old Lady Liu had no intention of stopping and continued to beat Liu Ya fiercely.

"Damn it, the old family is really all ungrateful. I've raised you for so long, and you've already learned to tell lies!"

Blood oozed from Liu Ya's forehead, her head became increasingly dizzy, and the world in front of her eyes gradually became blurred.

Seeing that Old Lady Liu was about to hit her with her broom, Liu Er ran out and yelled, "Murder! My grandma killed someone."

Old Lady Liu was stunned for a second, then she caught up with Liu Er and slapped her hard: "I told you not to yell like that! I think you don't want to live anymore!"

"Help! Someone is killing me!" Liu'er covered her swollen face and cried out.

When the neighbors heard that someone was being killed, they all ran out of their houses to watch.

Captain Yu and Liang Xiuling had just arrived. Seeing the crowd surrounding the Liu family, they hurriedly asked, "What's going on? Why are there so many people?"

Everyone pointed at the Liu family courtyard and said, "Captain, you're finally here. Look, Mrs. Liu is beating her granddaughter again."

Captain Yu walked into the yard and saw Liu Ya, who was beaten to death, and Liu'er, who was still crying beside her. He then looked up at Old Lady Liu, whose face was full of ferocity.

"Liu family! What are you doing?"

"Oh, what's wrong with me teaching my granddaughter a lesson?" Old Lady Liu's eyes widened. "Even if you are the captain, you can't meddle in my family affairs."

Captain Yu frowned: "Liu family, it's not that I want to interfere in your family's affairs, but you beat the child and hurt him. He must be sent to the hospital for treatment."

"It's just a minor injury. It will heal in a few days." Old Lady Liu said disdainfully.

Liang Xiuling was infuriated by her attitude, "You're abusing your granddaughter and you think you're justified!"

Seeing that she was unfamiliar, Old Lady Liu didn't give her any respect at all. "Who are you? What qualifications do you have to interrupt?"

Liang Xiuling stared at her with sharp eyes. "It doesn't matter who I am. What matters is that you shouldn't hit your own granddaughter. It's illegal to abuse your granddaughter like this."

Old Lady Liu spitted, "What's wrong with me being happy to beat my granddaughter? It's none of your business. Don't think that just because you're dressed nicely, you're cultured. I'm a peasant from the countryside, and I've never heard of disciplining your own granddaughter being illegal."

Liang Xiuling held up the red-headed document and said, "I'm the newly appointed chairperson of the Women's Federation, in charge of your area. If you continue to violate the policy and beat your own granddaughter, I will report you to the police station and punish you."

"What? What did you say?" Old Mrs. Liu asked in disbelief.

In fact, Old Lady Liu did not believe what Liang Xiuling said, but when she saw the red document in her hand, she began to feel scared.

Liang Xiuling looked at Captain Yu and said, "Please have someone send these two children for treatment first."

Captain Yu immediately arranged for someone to help Liu Ya and her brother send them to the health center.

When Old Lady Liu saw Captain Yu’s respectful look, she felt a chill in her heart. No wonder she had never seen him before. She didn’t expect that he was an official.
