Chapter 25: Sister Shi

The next day was Sunday. Xie Wan slept until ten in the morning and went downstairs to find the whole family was there, including an uninvited guest, Shi Yu.

Shi Yu was chatting with her aunt. Fan Hongxia was sitting on a chair beside her with her butt hanging down at the edge. It was obvious that the wound on her buttocks was still painful.

"Sister Xiaowan, are you up? I bought some fried cakes on the street. Everyone else has eaten them, so I left two for you. Go to the kitchen and eat them."

Xie Wan felt that Shi Yu was abnormally enthusiastic towards her.

When she was eating in the kitchen, Shi Yu actually followed her into the kitchen to chat with her.

Seeing the rope around Xie Wan's neck, Shi Yu's eyes lit up and he asked, "Xiao Wan, what's hanging around your neck? Can you show it to me?"

Xie Wan's heart skipped a beat. The jade ring around her neck was stolen from Tao Hongmei.

Xie Wan suddenly thought of Shi Yu’s golden finger in the original book.

It looks like a ring.

Could it be the one on her neck?

But if this ring belongs to the heroine, why is it in Tao Hongmei’s box?

Xie Wan didn't want Shi Yu to recognize her, so she covered it up by saying, "It's nothing, just a small purse."

Shi Yu asked to take a look, but Xie Wan said awkwardly, "It's too broken, let's not use it."

After saying that, Xie Wan covered her stomach and said she had to go to the bathroom, then slipped into the toilet.

She squatted in the toilet for a long time, and after making sure that Shi Yu would not continue to wait outside the toilet, she slipped out of the toilet and quietly ran to Aunt Zhou's room.

Aunt Zhou was not at home, but there were some scraps of cloth left over from cutting clothes last night in her room.

Xie Wan found a slightly complete piece and quickly sewed a small pocket.

She is a veterinarian. It is common for her to sew wounds for small animals, and she can sew a pocket very quickly.

Xie Wan ran back to the room, stuffed the remaining money and tickets into the cloth bag, and then hung it back around his neck with the original rope.

At this time, there was a knock on the door, and Shi Yu's voice came from outside the door: "Sister Xiaowan, can I come in?"

Xie Wan put the ring into the corner of the closet before opening the door.

"Sister Xiaowan, you must be thirsty if you only eat fried rice cakes. I made you a cup of malted milk."

Shi Yu's voice was so gentle, and his tone was full of concern.

If Xie Wan hadn't been naturally alert, he would have thought that she really liked him and treated him as her younger sister.

This malted milk is very expensive.

Xie Wan had never seen it in the Xie family. It was probably that this was hidden away by Shi Yu's aunt. Only when her niece Shi Yu came did she take it out and make it for her to drink.

Shi Yu actually didn't drink it himself, but brought it upstairs to give to Xie Wan.

Xie Wan thought to himself, “If someone shows kindness to you for no reason, he is either a traitor or a thief.

But why is there no description in the original book about Shi Yu obtaining the ring from the original owner?"

Xie Wan reached out to take the cup of malted milk, but for some reason, Shi Yu seemed to not hold it firmly, and the malted milk in the cup spilled all over Xie Wan.

"Sister Xiaowan, I'm sorry, I burned you, please take off your clothes quickly."

Shi Yu forced the cup into Xie Wan's hand and reached out to take off Xie Wan's clothes.

Xie Wan was sure she did it on purpose.

Well, let’s hurt each other!

Xie Wan poured all the remaining malted milk in the cup back onto Shi Yu.

“Sister Xiaowan, you…” Shi Yu was confused.

Now both of their clothes were dirty.

"I was careless too!" Xie Wan looked innocent.

Fortunately, the temperature of malted milk was not high and no one got burned.

During the struggle, the buttons of Xie Wan's clothes were torn open, revealing the cloth bag on her chest.

A trace of disappointment flashed across Shi Yu's eyes. He pulled off the bag and shouted, "Oh, it's wet. Sister Xiao Wan, pour out the contents and dry them in the sun."

Xie Wan knew that she would not give up until she found out the truth, so he let her check.

Shi Yu took the cloth bag, ran to the desk, and poured everything inside onto the table.

Just a handful of change and two industrial bills...

Shi Yu was disappointed and was stunned for a long time before turning around and smiling at Xie Wan: "Little sister Wan, look at me, I meant well but ended up doing something bad. Change your clothes. I'll go downstairs to borrow some clothes from Hongxia."

Xie Wan is now certain that Shi Yu is looking for something from her.

Most likely, it is the jade ring.

After locking the door, Xie Wan changed into the new dress that Fan Hongxia gave her.

She took out the ring and began to study it.

The first thing she thought of was to pledge her loyalty by dropping blood.

She used a needle to poke a small hole on her finger, and a streak of blood thinner than a mosquito's leg appeared, which Xie Wan smeared on the ring.

There was no other way. This body had been malnourished for a long time and had too little blood. Xie Wan couldn't bear to do it.

After waiting for a long time, the ring showed no response.

Xie Wan chanted all kinds of strange spells to the ring.

"Open sesame, heaven and earth, mommy mommy, twinkle, twinkle little star, the sky is full of little stars, Balabala the fairy has transformed..."

Xie Wannian's lips and tongue were dry, but the ring still didn't respond.

Xie Wan was frustrated and cursed the author of the original book, asking why he didn’t write about how the heroine activated the golden finger?

Xie Wan had no choice but to stuff the ring into the cloth bag, hang it back around her neck, and hide it under her skirt.

She guessed that Shi Yu would not pull the rope around her neck again.

After Xie Wan had packed up, he went downstairs, and Aunt Zhou just came in with some vegetables.

Seeing Aunt Zhou carrying a big grass carp, Xie Wan happily ran over to help Aunt Zhou carry the vegetable basket.

Aunt Zhou quickly declined, "Xiao Wan, you don't need to help, I can carry it."

Xie Wan gave up the vegetable basket and happily carried the fish to the kitchen.

When passing by Fan Hongxia's room, he saw Shi Yu pushing the door open.
