"What do they mean by this?" Xie Wan expressed his dissatisfaction while gnawing on the leg of lamb.
Xu Bing suppressed the surging gastric juice, pointed at the leg of lamb in her hand, and then pointed at the still burning body behind Xie Wan.
Xie Wan understood. These people obviously misunderstood.
Xie Wan handed the lamb leg to Xu Bing and said, "This is a lamb leg, not a human leg!"
Of course Xu Bing believed that no matter how hungry Xie Wan was, he would never eat human legs.
But who the hell would roast lamb legs on a battlefield? The point is, if you want to roast lamb legs, you should choose a place. Why are you roasting human legs in the fire next to you?
Xu Bing waved his hand and rejected Xie Wan's kindness.
Lu Xiaolong and the others finally finished vomiting and gathered around.
"Director, it's really you!"
"Director, how could you jump off an American plane?"
…
The team members suppressed their nausea and surrounded Xie Wan, asking questions in unison.
But no one was willing to taste the lamb leg handed to them by their director, and some people had already sworn in their hearts that they would never eat lamb legs again in their lifetime.
Being in an enemy country and having lost contact with the organization, although Xu Bing insisted that the director would definitely come to pick them up, everyone was still more or less nervous.
Amid the smoke of war, the Cambodia-Vietnam border behind us has been completely blocked.
There is endless war ahead.
Cambodia does not have a direct border with our country.
Their radio was also broken. If Xie Wan hadn't come to pick them up, they really didn't know how to return to China.
Perhaps, they can only return home after this war is over.
But it was completely different when they saw Xie Wan. Xie Wan was their leader. Seeing Xie Wan was like seeing the organization, and everyone felt at ease.
Everyone looked at Xie Wan with gratitude, admiration, loyalty, and many other complex emotions that needed to be expressed.
Xie Wan, however, acted as if he had just gone out for a walk and had just parted with his colleagues for a few hours.
She took a few bites of the lamb leg and wrapped it in a piece of oil paper with some regret, muttering, "It actually tastes pretty good. I guess you guys aren't full here, are you?"
Everyone was infected by her relaxed tone and almost forgot that this was a battlefield. They all grinned foolishly.
Xie Wan pretended to stuff the leg of lamb back into the backpack on his back, and then asked Xu Bing why he did not arrive at Bangzhang Port to assemble at the appointed time.
Xu Bing briefly recounted what had happened to them.
When Xie Wan heard that Wu Xing was injured by a shell, the calm expression on his face finally changed, and he urged: "Then what are you waiting for? Take me to see him."
Xu Bing took a look at Xie Wan's field uniform and suggested, "Why don't you change your clothes?"
When Xie Wan heard that Xu Bing had become the squadron leader, his eyes lit up and he kept saying "well done".
Some of the shorter team members donated their own spare Vietnamese soldiers' uniforms. Xie Wan asked them to step aside and went into the woods to change his clothes.
When she came back, she had turned into a short Vietnamese soldier with a dark face.
"I don't speak Vietnamese, you all cover me."
Several people slipped towards the wounded soldiers' camp.
Xu Bing reminded: "The wounded soldiers' battalion is in the rear. If the patrolling inspection team sees us walking back, they will probably shoot us.
Ruan Zhiping issued an order that only advances were allowed, no retreats were allowed, and anyone who wanted to retreat would be shot.
The Ruan Zhiping that Xu Bing mentioned was the commander who falsely reported the bombing by US military aircraft.
When Xie Wan heard this person's name, he felt somewhat familiar with it, and suddenly remembered that this person had contributed a lot of resentment to him in the past few days.
"This person sounds like a good person." Xie Wan's evaluation was sincere, but Xu Bing and the others thought she was speaking in a sarcastic way.
The six people carefully avoided the war and patrol teams along the way and arrived at the wounded soldiers' camp.
The camp for the wounded was not open to anyone, so they picked up a wounded and dying soldier on the road and pretended to send him to the camp for the wounded.
Seeing that the soldier's intestines were spilling out, the military doctor shook his head and said, "Throw him out. There's no way he can be saved."
Xie Wan had actually seen the man's injuries just now. Although they were quite serious, he was not completely beyond saving. His stomach was just cut by shrapnel, but no important organs were damaged.
Xie Wan felt a bit like he was suffering from an occupational disease and wanted to rush over to argue with the military doctor, asking why he couldn't save the patient.
Fortunately, she realized that she didn't speak Vietnamese, so she slammed on the brakes and shut her mouth, but she still glared at the military doctor fiercely.
The military doctor noticed Xie Wan's gaze and thought she was just blaming him for not saving her comrade, so he took out a black classification label from the pocket of his white coat, stuck it on the injured soldier's forehead, and then walked away.
Military doctors on the battlefield generally classify the wounded into four categories and label them with black labels, which means they have no signs of life or their injuries are extremely serious, with little hope of treatment.
Xu Bing realized that his boss had an occupational disease and quickly pulled her forward.
While explaining, "When Wu Xing brought him here, they also gave him a black label. We were so angry that we pointed a gun at a military doctor and tried to save him. Fortunately, he was saved."
Xie Wan was pulled into a makeshift tent.
Wu Xing, who was able to open his eyes and was wrapped in bandages, suddenly saw his comrades rushing in.
Why does that small, dark guy next to the captain look so familiar?
He tried to speak but no sound came out.
There was a field nurse in the tent. When she saw a few people coming in, she wanted to kick them out.
Xie Wan gave a look and Xu Bing knocked the man unconscious.
