Chapter 145 The Past

Lin Shu nodded.

"Did something happen?" she asked hesitantly.

"Yes." Mrs. Cao sat up straight, took a sip of tea, and continued, "Since you left, the family compound has been full of dramas."

"Do you still remember Mrs. Zhou's two daughters?"

Lin Shu hummed softly. Of course I remember. One was called Xiaocao and the other was called Xiaohua.

"Is it related to them?" she asked.

"You are really smart." Mrs. Cao praised.

Lin Shu smiled embarrassedly.

Mrs. Cao continued, "Mrs. Zhou works in the army cafeteria, so she put her two daughters in the army nursery.

“But that day, Mrs. Zhou’s little daughter, Xiaohua, was brought back by a teacher from the nursery, covered in blood.

Lin Shu was startled and asked worriedly, "Is Xiaohua okay?"

She remembered that she was a very well-behaved little girl.

"It's okay, it's okay." Mrs. Cao waved her hand, "Just listen to me."

Lin Shu breathed a sigh of relief.

In fact, she had already roughly guessed what had happened.

However, she still listened carefully to what Mrs. Cao said next.

"That day, Mrs. Zhou was like a mad lion, biting anyone who came close."

Lin Shu pursed his lips.

She could understand. After all, how many mothers could tolerate their children being hurt?

Moreover, the last time her mother-in-law came to the army, because she treated Xiaocao and Xiaohua harshly, Mrs. Zhou, who was afraid that her superiors would complain directly to the higher-ups, was enough to show how important Xiaocao and Xiaohua were in Mrs. Zhou's mind.

"Later, this matter was reported to the higher-ups by Mrs. Zhou."

"When the higher-ups checked, they found out that she was the one who injured Xiaohua."

Lin Shu frowned slightly. She knew that "she" was referring to Mrs. Wei upstairs.

"You know her character, right?"

Lin Shu nodded.

"At first she denied it and threw a tantrum, but later she admitted that she had done it accidentally."

"It was originally an accidental check. I apologized, made amends, and the matter was over. But I didn't expect..." Mrs. Cao said in a low voice with a mysterious look on her face, "You will never guess what happened."

Lin Shu was curious.

"Someone reported her."

Lin Shu's eyes widened. Could this be the same thing as the daycare teacher position?

Mrs. Cao took two sips from her teacup and continued, "She got that job at the nursery through some shady means."

Sure enough, Lin Shu picked up the teapot and filled Mrs. Cao's cup with water. At that time, she felt that Mrs. Wei's personality was not suitable for that position at all.

"Tell me, is this a serious matter?" Mrs. Cao raised her voice with a serious look on her face.

Then, she glanced at the room where Han Yan was and said in a low voice, "At that time, I was thinking, with so many military wives, why did she get this position?

"So," Mrs. Cao snorted twice, "you're taking a crooked path."

"Not only did I lose my job, I was also publicly criticized and reprimanded by my superiors. Now I can only behave myself."

Lin Shu didn't agree, and said, "Then Captain Wei..."

"Captain Wei doesn't know. If he knew, then this matter would be more than just that."

Lin Shu shook his head inwardly. Really? Not necessarily.

However, the higher-ups have already investigated, so she won't waste time questioning others.

"Shu'er." As soon as Mrs. Cao left, Lin Shu heard Han Yan calling her in the room.

"What's the matter?" Lin Shu pushed open the door.

Seeing her come in, Han Yan supported himself on the bed with his arms, half leaning on the pillow.

Perhaps because he had just woken up, his tough facial features looked much softer.

Lin Shu was distracted.

She seemed not to have seen this scene for a long time.

After Han Yan sat down, he extended his hand towards her.

Lin Shu came to his senses, walked closer and put his hand in his.

He exerted force and Lin Shu sat down on the edge of the bed.

"Who came just now?" Han Yan asked.

"Mrs. Cao." Lin Shu replied.

"Well, Mrs. Cao is a nice person. You can get along with her."

Lin Shu chuckled. He had said something similar when she first joined the army.

Han Yan looked annoyed: "I said the same thing to you before."

Lin Shu nodded.

"Alas." Han Yan sighed, a hint of jealousy showing on his face, "I'm really jealous of him."

"Who are you jealous of?" Lin Shu laughed, "Isn't he just you?"

"I don't care." Han Yan shook her hand. "You can only think about me now, not him."

"That won't do." Lin Shu said with a straight face.

"Okay, okay." Han Yan looked disappointed. "Don't be upset. I just—"

"I want everything, whether it's your past or your future, whether you have lost your memory or not, I want everything."

This was the first time that Lin Shu revealed his true feelings like this, and his face couldn't help but feel hot after he finished speaking.

Han Yan's eyes suddenly lit up, and he leaned over and hugged Lin Shu into his arms: "Thank you."

His voice sounded so gentle in Lin Shu's ears.

The two hugged each other quietly for a while.

"Shu'er, tell me about our past." Han Yan let go of her and said seriously, "I want to remember our past as soon as possible."

Lin Shu was surprised. He had never mentioned this matter before, so she thought...

"Do you think I don't care?" Han Yan said hurriedly.

Lin Shu pursed his lips and said nothing.

"How is that possible?" Han Yan said anxiously, "I just..."

He hesitated and said awkwardly: "Perhaps you will find it incomprehensible, but I just don't want to hear about your past with him."
