Chapter 17: Visiting to Thank You 2

Lin Shu's gaze suddenly retracted as if burned, and then he felt annoyed. What was she doing?

She looked back with forced composure.

A smile flashed in Han Yan's eyes, the corners of his mouth rose slightly, and then dropped.

"What were you talking about just now?" Han Yan came in, sat on the stool next to Aunt Liang, looked at Lin Shu and asked.

Lin Shu glanced at Xu Juan, who was just smiling and saying nothing, and then smiled awkwardly.

Could she say they were gossiping about his "great achievements" as a child? It didn't seem like they knew him well enough to be frank.

"We were talking about your childhood." Aunt Liang replied, grinning and laughing. She looked at Lin Shu and then at Han Yan with a gossipy look on her face, as if she was exploring something.

Lin Shu lowered his head uncomfortably, picked up the water glass on the table and took a sip.

Han Yan coughed lightly.

"Oh my." Aunt Liang slapped her thigh and raised her voice, "Look at me, I haven't fed my chickens yet, you guys chat, you guys chat." After that, she rushed out.

Staring at Aunt Liang's back as she left, Lin Shu's lips curled up slightly.

"Are you feeling better?" Han Yan's low and gentle voice came to my ears.

Lin Shu's ears moved, and at this moment, she realized that she was actually voice-controlled.

Lin Shu turned to look at him, shook his head, and said softly: "It's okay."

"Does it still hurt?"

"A little bit." Lin Shu said in a low voice.

She felt a little ashamed, as if she was discussing her embarrassing parts with a man.

But, she clearly didn't say anything, and she is a medical student.

"Oh, right," Lin Shu quickly changed the subject, "I've finished painting the portraits of the old man and the old woman who was with him."

She took the portrait out of the bag and handed it to Han Yan.

As if aware of Lin Shu's discomfort, Han Yan did not continue with the previous question.

He reached out, took the portrait, spread it out, and looked at it carefully for a while.

"What a great painting!" he praised.

"You haven't even seen the real person, how do you know the painting is good?" Lin Shu said.

"I can prove that the painting is exactly like the real person." Xu Juan, who was sitting next to him, finally spoke up, "My Lin Shu is really amazing!" She looked proud.

"Who is your family?" Lin Shu glared at her and blamed her for not saying anything just now.

Xu Juan smiled with her eyes curved, looking left and right, but not at her, as if she didn't understand anything.

Lin Shu was helpless and patted her lightly, then turned to Han Yan and continued, "It's not as exaggerated as she said. It's only about 80% similar. Is that okay?"

"Okay." Han Yan nodded. "Eighty to ninety percent resemblance is enough."

He folded the portrait carefully and said, "Leave the rest to me."

Lin Shu and Xu Juan nodded.

"Thank you so much." Lin Shu looked at Han Yan sincerely.

"Don't be polite with me." Han Yan stared at Lin Shu and said in a deep voice.

Lin Shu's heart beat faster and he opened his mouth, not knowing what to say.

She lowered her head slightly.

For a moment, the scene became quiet.

After a while.

"Are you going to Han Yuan's wedding tomorrow?" Han Yan asked.

Lin Shu breathed a sigh of relief and looked up: "Yes. Did Comrade Han Yuan tell you that?"

"Yeah." Han Yan nodded, and then he told them some things about the customs and habits of wedding banquets in the village.

Lin Shu listened carefully and asked Xu Juan some related questions from time to time.

Although the two of them were just going to have a meal, they were afraid of touching some taboos.

At this time, the old lady came in with a basket in her hand, which should be filled with vegetables just picked from the vegetable garden.

"Young lady, please stay for dinner." Aunt Liang said enthusiastically, pointing to the basket of vegetables in her hand. "Freshly picked, grown at home, very delicious."

Lin Shu raised his hand to look at his watch. Wow, he had been here for such a long time without realizing it.

She stood up and waved her hand quickly: "No, Aunt Liang, we just happen to have other things to do. It's time to go back."

She clearly came to express her gratitude, but ended up staying at someone else's house for dinner. How could this be justified?

"Why are you in such a hurry? It won't be too late to go back after eating." Aunt Liang glared at Han Yan, who was standing nearby watching. Then, she winked at him and said, "Why are you standing there? Why don't you try to persuade them?"

Han Yan glanced at Aunt Liang helplessly, then turned to look at Lin Shu and said, "Mom, let's do it next time. Miss Lin and the others are busy."

Lin Shu secretly breathed a sigh of relief. If Han Yan also persuaded her, she wouldn't know how to refuse.

"Okay." Aunt Liang said with a look of regret and disappointment. Then, she looked at Lin Shu expectantly and said, "Be sure to find time to come over."

Lin Shu looked up, glanced at Han Yan, and said hesitantly, "Okay, Auntie."

"That's great. You can't regret it." Aunt Liang smiled instantly.

She stepped forward and put the basket in Lin Shu's hand. "These are freshly picked. Take them back and eat them."

"No, no." Lin Shu said hurriedly.

"Yes, yes."

"Really."

"Take it."

After declining it several times, Aunt Liang was so enthusiastic that Lin Shu had no choice but to accept it: "Well, thank you, Auntie."

She raised her head and glanced at Han Yan again, her cheeks slightly hot and a little embarrassed.

Then, she handed the cloth bag she had brought over on the stool to Han Yan: "This is a thank you gift, a small token of my appreciation. You won't refuse it."

Han Yan stared at Lin Shu for a moment, then reached out to take it. "Well, I got your kind words."
