Lin Shu lowered his eyes, avoiding his gaze, and said softly, "Doctors are all like this. They often have to have some physical contact with patients."
There was silence for a moment.
Lin Shu felt the gaze on her disappear, and while she secretly breathed a sigh of relief, a strange feeling arose in her heart.
She raised her eyes and took a sneak peek, and found that Han Yan was tilting his head, looking away expressionlessly.
A drop of water dripped from his chin.
Lin Shu immediately lowered his head.
"Um."
Hmm? What does that mean? Lin Shu looked up at Han Yan.
Han Yan didn't look at her, but turned and took a step forward, saying, "Let's go, I'll take you back."
Lin Shu stood there in a daze. At this moment, she couldn't tell whether she was disappointed or relieved.
She came to her senses and found that Han Yan, who had walked a few steps away, stopped and turned to look at her.
Lin Shu quickly interrupted his thoughts and jogged after him.
On the way, both of them were silent.
Maybe it was because it was too dark or too quiet, but Lin Shu felt a little panicked.
Lin Shu looked up at Han Yan from time to time. He remained silent and looked ahead expressionlessly.
She felt an indescribable feeling in her heart.
In a moment of distraction, Lin Shu stepped on a stone and was about to fall to the side with a scream.
"Be careful!" Han Yan put his arm around her waist, helped her stand steady, then let go and took two steps back. "Are you okay?"
Lin Shu looked up and saw the worry in his eyes. His mood surprisingly improved.
"I'm fine." Lin Shu said candidly, "Thank you."
"Watch the road." Han Yan looked a little helpless.
"Yes." Lin Shu chuckled.
The atmosphere seemed to relax.
"Why are you here?" Han Yan asked gently.
"From my back, it looked like you were chasing me." Lin Shu said with a smile, "I didn't expect it was really you."
"You know, this is very dangerous." Han Yan stopped and looked at her with disapproval, scolding her lightly, "Don't rush forward when something happens."
"No way." Lin Shu said guiltily. She knew he was referring to the last two incidents.
"This time," Lin Shu argued, "I came after me because I was sure it was you."
Han Yan frowned.
"I'll pay attention next time." Lin Shu whispered.
"next time?"
"No, there won't be a next time." Lin Shu shrank his neck and didn't dare to look at him.
Han Yan nodded and continued walking forward, as if he didn't believe her promise.
Lin Shu hurried over: "Really, I promise I will be careful..."
Han Yan glanced at her sideways and said, "Yeah."
"Oh, right." Lin Shuhan chuckled and quickly changed the subject, asking hesitantly, "How did you get poisoned?"
As soon as he finished speaking, Lin Shu felt that the air around him seemed to be a little colder.
Lin Shu raised his head and glanced at him secretly, and found that Han Yan's face looked a little ugly, and his expression was cold and solemn.
Seeing that he didn't respond, Lin Shu decided that there was something unspeakable going on, so she quickly changed the subject: "Are you cold?"
Then she felt annoyed. How could she not be cold? She had been soaking in the water for half a day and was still wearing wet clothes.
"Someone was plotting against me." Han Yan suddenly spoke.
A plot? Before Lin Shu could wrap her head around it, her eyes widened in surprise. Was he poisoned because of a plot?
She immediately pricked up her ears and listened.
"It's my uncle..." Han Yan briefly recounted how he was drugged by his uncle Han Yougui and how he discovered it.
"Did your uncle give you the medicine?" Lin Shu asked in surprise, "Why?"
Han Yan turned to look at Lin Shu, his eyes darkened, his lips moved, but he didn't say anything.
Lin Shu understood instantly, then smiled awkwardly: "I understand, I understand."
Why else would he give her this kind of medicine? From what she saw tonight, it was simply because he wanted his daughter to have an affair with him and then marry him.
"But," Lin Shu widened his eyes and turned to look at him, his face full of disbelief, "You are brother and sister."
"Not a kiss."
"Not a kiss?" Lin Shu was confused.
"My dad picked it up." Han Yan lowered his eyes to look at Lin Shu, paused and said, "It's a long story, I'll tell you later."
Lin Shu nodded quickly. Although she was curious, now was not the time to talk about it.
"As for the drugging incident, your father..." Lin Shu hesitated.
"He doesn't know."
"Fortunately, fortunately..." Lin Shu secretly felt fortunate for him. If even his own father plotted against his own son, that would be too...
"We're here." Han Yan said.
Ah? Lin Shu reacted and looked ahead. Sure enough, the educated youth compound was not far away.
She knew that he stopped here on purpose because he was afraid that others would see them alone together late at night.
"Then go back quickly, take a hot shower, and change your clothes." Lin Shu said worriedly, "Don't catch a cold."
"Yeah." Han Yan's lips curled slightly, his expression happy.
Then, he stretched out his hand, opened his palm, and handed her the bottle of medicine, with a hint of inquiry in his eyes.
Seeing this, Lin Shu's eyebrows jumped, his eyes flashed slightly, and he said calmly: "I'll give it to you."
Then, she smiled and said in a relaxed tone, "This medicine is used to clear the mind and refresh the brain. I haven't slept well these past two days, so I brought it with me. I didn't expect it to be the perfect solution to your poison."
Han Yan looked at Lin Shu deeply, withdrew his hand, and said, "Then I won't be polite."
"You're welcome." Lin Shu waved his hand. Seeing that he didn't want to ask any more questions, he secretly breathed a sigh of relief.
"Then I'll go back."
