Chapter 30 Zhang Liang

When they arrived at the restaurant, it was still early and not many people were there.

After Lin Shu and Xu Juan ordered the dishes, they sat at the table and discussed Zhang Liang in a low voice while waiting for the waiter to serve the food.

"Where did he get all this?" Xu Juan asked worriedly.

Lin Shu shook his head. These things were now considered contraband, either hidden away by the owner or confiscated and turned in. Displaying them and being discovered could be fatal.

"It'll be okay." Lin Shu comforted.

"Here are the dishes you ordered." The waiter came over and placed the dishes on the table one by one.

Lin Shu and Xu Juan looked at each other and stopped discussing this topic.

"Wow, this braised pork is so delicious." Xu Juan exclaimed as she stared at the plate of braised pork on the table.

Lin Shu also looked at this dish. The braised pork, which the waiter had just praised highly, was said to be the chef's specialty. Pieces of it were neatly placed on the plate, red and shiny.

The aroma that hit her nose made her swallow involuntarily and she agreed, "It smells really good."

Both of them couldn't wait to pick up their chopsticks and reach for the plate of braised pork.

"Miss Lin!"

Lin Shu had just picked up a piece of braised pork from the plate with chopsticks when he was startled by a sudden sound next to him. His hand trembled and the braised pork fell back into the plate.

Lin Shu looked up a little annoyed.

It’s Zhang Liang!

He was smiling, looking at her with sparkling eyes.

"Can I sit down and share a table?" he said.

"No." Lin Shu said unhappily.

He didn't mind. After greeting Xu Juan, he sat down next to Lin Shu. Then he called the waiter to come and take the order.

After ordering the dishes, he looked at Xu Juan and then at Lin Shu with a smile.

Lin Shu and Xu Juan looked at each other, ignored him, and focused on eating.

"Miss Lin."

Lin Shu said nothing.

"Miss Xu."

Xu Juan glanced at Lin Shu without saying anything.

"Good sister." Zhang Liang drooped his eyes and stared at Lin Shu aggrievedly.

Lin Shu shuddered, glanced at him helplessly and said, "Be serious."

"Yes, yes." Zhang Liang immediately put on a smile and said.

Then, he leaned closer to her and whispered, "That bag..."

Lin Shu looked up at the waiter who was carrying the dishes over here, gave him a look, and said, "Let's talk about it when we get back."

Zhang Liang turned his head, looked at Lin Shu and nodded quickly.

After Zhang Liangliang's dishes were served, the three of them ate while talking about some interesting things that had happened recently, and finished the meal happily.

On the way back, Zhang Liang diligently helped Lin Shu carry the package.

Lin Shu did not refuse his kindness.

When they got off the bus at the brigade, they did not go back immediately, but found a place with few people nearby to sit down.

Lin Shu did not return the bag to Zhang Liang immediately, but put it on his knees and stared at him inquiringly.

Xu Juan also looked at him seriously.

"I, I..." Zhang Liang scratched his hair with his hand, smiling, but he couldn't speak.

Lin Shu frowned.

Zhang Liang slowly put his hand down, and his expression gradually became sad.

Lin Shu even saw tears flashing in his eyes.

She and Xu Juan looked at each other and remained silent.

Zhang Liang closed his eyes, tilted his head slightly, and clenched his fists tightly with his hands on his knees. The meridians on the back of his hands were clearly visible.

"He was my teacher." Zhang Liang opened his eyes, his eyes red, and spoke hoarsely, "He was such a good person. He clearly didn't do anything. And his students... his students actually brought a group of people to raid his house and arrested him for criticism."

A tear fell from the corner of Zhang Liang's eye, and he choked up, "He was already so old. So old, and his legs were broken, his head was smashed, and in the end, he passed away with all these injuries..."

"And those beasts, those beasts," Zhang Liang said excitedly, hatred in his eyes, "They didn't even let my master's wife go. They arrested her and criticized her. The reason was that they heard that one of my master's wife's ancestors was a landlord and must have valuable property, so they forced her to hand it over..."

"And the things in that bundle," Zhang Liang said with a sad face, looking at the bundle on Lin Shu's knees, "were given to me by my master's wife before she died."

Lin Shu put his hand on the bag, his nose felt sore, his eyes blurred, and he felt that the heavy bag was getting heavier.

She handed the bundle solemnly to Zhang Liang.

Zhang Liang took it and held it in his arms.

After a while, he said calmly and solemnly, "Master and his wife never had any children in their lives. They treated me as their son. What they left behind, let alone these, I will take back even a piece of wood from them."

After saying this, he closed his eyes and remained silent for a long time.

Xu Juan gently wiped away the tears from her face.

Lin Shu also breathed a sigh of relief.

Neither of them spoke to comfort him, but just sat quietly beside him. Some words are too pale to express in words.

a long time.

Zhang Liang opened his eyes, looked at the two of them, and said sincerely, "Thank you!"

Lin Shu and Xu Juan looked at each other and shook their heads slightly.

"I've decided. I want to do something big." Zhang Liang said loudly and forcefully, his expression returning to his usual bright and cheerful look.

Lin Shu looked at him doubtfully and worriedly.

Zhang Liang scratched his head and smirked, "Don't worry, I'm not going to seek revenge on them. I know I'm no match for them right now."

He was a little embarrassed: "But I can't tell you yet."
