Chapter 41 Package

"Isn't that Li Mei?"

When they walked near the post office, Lin Shu saw a person squatting next to the post office gate. She buried her head in her knees and held a piece of paper in her hand.

"No." Xu Juan looked around, "It's really her. Why is she squatting on the ground? Let's go and take a look." As she said that, she was about to run over.

Lin Shu quickly grabbed her and shook his head.

Soon, Li Mei stood up, wiped her face, turned and left.

"Is she okay?" Xu Juan said worriedly.

Lin Shu looked at Li Mei, who was wearing ankle-length pants and a thin, old cotton coat, and sighed softly.

When the weather started to get colder, Lin Shu discovered that Li Mei didn't have any thick clothes that fit her, so he found an excuse to give her some.

But until now, she has never seen Li Mei wear it.

"Let's go." Lin Shu said.

Entered the post office.

Lin Shu received a letter and a package from her father Lin Jianguo, as well as a letter and a package from Han Yan.

Xu Juan chuckled and joked, "Comrade Han Yan wrote to you again. Oh, and this time he even sent you a package."

Lin Shu hummed lightly in embarrassment.

Because she took the letter so many times, Xu Juan discovered it.

"Come, let me help you share the burden." Xu Juan teased, reaching out to take the package sent by Han Yan.

"Hey, why is it so light?" Xu Juan weighed the package and asked in confusion, "Isn't it possible that they sent you a large bag of cotton?"

Lin Shu listened and picked it up, weighing it. This package was indeed unusual; it looked large but felt light. Could he have really sent her a large bale of cotton?

Although he was puzzled, Lin Shu did not open it on the spot.

The two of them took a car back carrying a bunch of things.

Lin Shu, who returned with the package, aroused the envy of some old educated youth.

"Lin Shu, did your family send something again?"

"They really love you. They've taken it several times in the past two months."

Lin Shu smiled sheepishly, but she noticed that Li Mei, who had just walked out of the dormitory, gave her a strange look and turned back.

Lin Shu's eyebrows twitched. He wondered if she had seen it wrong.

After Lin Shu finished other things, he sat on the bed and took out the letter he had received.

She first opened Lin Jianguo's envelope, and inside it was a letter from her younger brother Lin You.

Lin Shu looked at the crooked words above, and the corners of his mouth curled up slightly.

He wrote throughout the article about how sad he was that his second sister had left him. He missed her and wanted her to come back soon.

Lin Shu sighed. He wondered if he could go back next year. He'd probably be much taller by then.

Lin Shu opened Lin Jianguo's letter again. It assured her that everything was fine at home and asked her not to worry. He estimated that she wouldn't be going home for the Lunar New Year, so he had sent her some New Year's gifts in advance.

Lin Shu felt a little warm in her heart. She was a little homesick. Although she was not their biological child, they were indeed very kind to her.

Lin Shu was depressed for a long time before he folded the letter and put it aside.

Lin Shu picked up the letter written by Han Yan. It was still thick.

She unfolded the letter, which was written in a sharp and steady hand.

He began by saying that he was very happy to receive her reply and he did not sleep all night.

Lin Shu's lips curled slightly. Are you really that happy?

He said he had tasted the beef jerky she made and thought it was the best thing he had ever eaten.

But unfortunately, he was not the first one to eat it, as it was snatched away by Lao Gao. For this, he had a fight with Lao Gao, who was the one who snatched the piece of braised pork from him last time.

Lin Shu was secretly pleased at first. Her craftsmanship was just that good.

Then I thought it was funny, what's the difference between the first one and the second one? And the strange thing is, they always fight over a bite of food.

This Lao Gao must be his good comrade, Lin Shu guessed.

Next, as before, he wrote about some interesting things that happened in the army, as well as things he saw and heard while on missions.

Lin Shu read with great interest, and curled up the corners of his mouth from time to time.

The back of the letter.

He said that if he wrote to her in the future, he would ask Han Yuan to bring it back to her. If she wrote to him, she could also give it to Han Yuan and ask him to mail it. That way, when the weather got cold, she wouldn't have to run back and forth.

Lin Shu was amused. Was he trying to trick his cousin?

Then she thought, Han Yuan works in the county, near the post office, so commuting there is much more convenient for him than for her. If he's willing, then she can ask for his help and thank him later.

When she saw the back of the letter, Lin Shu widened her eyes in surprise. She glanced at the package on the table, and then looked at what he wrote at the end.

He said that he wished her a happy birthday in advance and that he regretted not being able to celebrate her birthday in person. The package contained the birthday gift he had prepared for her and he hoped she liked it.

The end of the letter is still the same sentence: Looking forward to your reply.

Lin Shu was so surprised that she couldn't recover for a long time. She wondered how he knew her birthday. Then she thought, this is not important. What is important is that he actually prepared a birthday gift for her.

Lin Shu immediately put down the letter in his hand, crawled to the end of the bed, took the package and opened it carefully.

She was actually looking forward to what gift he would prepare for her.

The moment the package was opened, what caught her eyes was the dazzling bright red color.

She reached out and picked it up. It felt soft and comfortable. The texture was like cashmere.

Lin Shu shook it open with both hands, and it turned out to be a long, bright red scarf.

"Wow, so beautiful!" Xu Juan's exclamation came from behind.

She quickly ran over and touched it: "It feels so good. I have a similar one, but it's not as good as this one."

Lin Shu smiled faintly.

"It's just a scarf. What's there to be proud of? You act like a bumpkin who has never seen the world." Liu Fang suddenly said disdainfully.

"Liu Fang, your words are too harsh." Xiao Qiao said disapprovingly.

Liu Fang snorted lightly, but said nothing more.

Li Mei glanced at Lin Shu, her eyes flickered slightly, and she lowered her head again.

Lin Shu felt a bit of a headache watching the farce that happened every two days.

She ignored Liu Fang and put down the scarf in her hand, eager to know what was underneath it.

Xu Juan also stood nearby, watching with curiosity.

Lin Shu untied the cloth strips, and the thing wrapped in the cloth actually grew a little bigger.

Lin Shu and Xu Juan exchanged a glance, feeling somewhat amused and confused. It was indeed, as they had suspected, cotton.

Lin Shu lifted the cloth, his eyes lit up, and he quickly picked it up with both hands.

It turned out to be an off-white, long down jacket with a hood.

It was just as she remembered, and upon closer inspection, it was even better quality and more exquisite than she remembered seeing.

Lin Shu immediately stood up and put on the down jacket, which surprisingly fit him perfectly.

"Wow, it looks great!" Xu Juan looked at Lin Shu. "It's so light and looks so warm. Where did you buy it? I want one too."

"It's actually a down jacket." Xiao Qiao came over and looked at the down jacket on Lin Shu with envy. "You can't just buy this."
