Lin Shu frowned slightly, looking at the hysterical people in front of her. How could they look down on her?
"You," Li Mei pointed at Xiao Qiao and yelled, "you act like a high-and-mighty young lady all day long. Aren't you just a useless idiot who can't do anything but rely on your parents?"
Xiao Qiao glared at him, his face full of anger.
"And you," Liu Fang pointed at Xu Juanzi and screamed, "Just because I borrowed money from you, you think you're so great, right? You can look down on me? You're still chasing me around like a lapdog."
Xu Juan's face turned pale and she looked at Li Mei in disbelief.
Finally, Li Mei glared at Lin Shu with resentment, gritting her teeth and saying, "You're the most despicable. Do you think you're noble just because you gave someone a few pieces of clothing? It's just a few words, but you're not even willing to give alms to others. You act like a pure and innocent person all day long, but you're actually acting like a whore everywhere—"
With a slap, Lin Shu raised his hand and slapped Li Mei in the face, saying coldly, "Are you awake?"
Li Mei screamed, covered her face with her hands, and glared at Lin Shu with red eyes: "If you dare to hit me, I will fight you."
As he said that, he rushed towards Lin Shu like crazy.
Lin Shu frowned and kicked her out.
Li Mei took two steps back, fell to the ground, and looked at Lin Shu in disbelief.
Lin Shu took a step closer to Li Mei, and Xiao Qiao and Xu Juan immediately held her back, obviously afraid that she would hit Li Mei again.
Lin Shu stared coldly at Li Mei who was sitting on the ground: "Are you awake now?"

When Lin Shu saw Li Mei's hands on the ground slowly clenched into fists, he knew that her heart was full of resentment and she would not listen to anything.
Lin Shu stopped what he was about to say and just said to her, "You can do whatever you want."
Lin Shu turned around, sat back on the bed, and ignored her.
Xu Juan and Xiao Qiao looked at each other and sat back on their beds.
Li Mei still sat on the ground motionless.
After a while, a female educated youth named Zhang Hao from the dormitory next door poked her head out of the door and asked, "What happened?" She had obviously heard the noise.
Lin Shu shook his head silently, not wanting to explain this farce.
Xu Juan and the others also remained silent.
"Li Mei, why are you sitting on the ground?" Zhang Hao came in and saw Li Mei on the ground, and helped her up.
Li Mei kept her head down and said nothing.
"You..." Zhang Hao seemed to see the slap mark on Li Mei's face, so he didn't continue asking, but helped her out of the dormitory.
Lin Shu sighed softly. Fortunately, she and Lin Kang soon married and moved out.
From that day on, Li Mei moved to the dormitory next door and slept in the same bed with Zhang Hao.
In the next few days, Lin Shu rarely met Li Mei. It was said that she went to Lin Kang's house every day to prepare for the wedding banquet.
Strangely, Li Mei’s parents or other relatives did not come until the day before the wedding banquet.

"She has two older sisters, three younger sisters and a younger brother." Xu Juan said as she took a ball of wool to help organize it.

Lin Shu didn't find it strange. Nowadays, most people value having many children, especially a boy.
Xu Juan nodded, glanced at Lin Shu, and continued, "The last time she asked me to go out, she asked me to borrow money and tickets to send back home. She said that her parents were old and her brothers and sisters were still young, and life was difficult.
As she spoke, Xu Juan's face showed a hint of sadness. She was obviously thinking of what Li Mei said a few days ago.
Lin Shu and Xiao Qiao looked at each other, then lowered their heads to wind the wool in their hands, pretending not to see anything.
"Tomorrow, will we still give gifts?" Xu Juan said hesitantly.

"People look down on us, why would they want our things?" Xiao Qiao said self-deprecatingly.

Early the next morning, Lin Shu heard the sound of joy coming from far away.

Lin Shu and Xiao Qiao looked at each other and smiled faintly: "Yeah."

Lin Shu and the other two did not attend Li Mei's wedding banquet. They did not leave until the excitement had left the yard.
In the evening, the educated youth who had just returned from the wedding banquet said that Lin Kang's family didn't even have smiles on their faces and clearly looked down on Li Mei.
