"Who?" Han Yan's voice came from inside.
"It's me," Lin Shu replied. She held her breath, waiting for his next words.
After a long silence, his voice was finally heard again.
"Miss Lin, please go back. It's not convenient to meet guests now."
Lin Shu's heart felt like it had been struck hard. She could no longer care about anything else and suddenly pushed the door open and went in.
The person inside seemed not to have expected her to do this. He hurriedly pulled the quilt to cover his body, then lay on his side, motionless.
Lin Shu's eyes instantly became moist and his heart ached.
She saw it, saw the chest wrapped in bandages and still oozing with blood, and saw the leg in a splint that made it difficult to even turn around.
Lin Shu slowly approached, stood in front of his bed, and called softly, "Han Yan."
The room was silent, and only the breathing of the two people seemed to be heard.
After a long while, Han Yan still didn't speak and just lay there motionless.
"Don't you really want to see me?" Lin Shu held back his tears, his voice choked.
Only then did Han Yan slowly turn around.
Lin Shu couldn't help but shed tears.
She had never seen him like this before, with a pale and thin face and sunken eye sockets.
Han Yan looked flustered, his eyes filled with heartache. He raised his hand and stretched it out to him with difficulty: "You, don't cry."
Lin Shu immediately stepped forward, held his hand, sat down beside his bed, and smiled through his tears: "Well, I won't cry."
Han Yan paused, then slowly pulled her hand out of his grasp. She lowered her eyes and forced a smile, "Miss Lin, go back."
Lin Shu was stunned and slowly put down his raised hand.
There was silence for a moment.
"How are you feeling?" Lin Shu stared at him and asked cautiously.
Han Yan forced a smile but didn't look up at her: "Not bad."
A hint of sadness flashed in Lin Shu's eyes.
There was a pause.
Lin Shu curled his lips: "Well, that's good."
Lin Shu stood up and stared at him, "Then you have a good rest. I'm going out first."
After a moment, Han Yan still didn't look at her, but just hummed lightly.
Lin Shu was disappointed and slowly took two steps back, his eyes fixed on him the whole time.
"I'm leaving." she said again.
Deathly silence.
After a while, Lin Shu couldn't bear it anymore and turned around and ran out of the room.
Han Yan, lying on the bed, slowly raised his eyes and stared at Lin Shu's departing back.
He clenched his fists and smashed the bed hard, but stopped at the last moment and fell on the bed exhausted.
His face was full of pain, his eyes showed unwillingness and struggle, and finally turned into dead silence.
After Lin Shu went out, he stood at the side of the door for a while, and after calming down, he went to find Qin Hao.
As soon as Lin Shu walked into the yard, she saw Qin Hao standing there, looking at her, as if he knew she would look for him and was waiting there specially.
"Comrade Qin Hao."
"Miss Lin," Qin Hao paused, "Are you looking for me to ask about Han Yan?"
Lin Shu nodded.
The two sat down on the benches in the yard.
Qin Hao pondered for a moment: "Do you know that Han Yan is on a mission?"
Lin Shu nodded. He had told her so in the letter.
"I'm not in a position to discuss the specific details," Qin Hao said. "He was injured while rescuing someone during this mission."
Lin Shu nodded in understanding.
"At that time we all thought he..." Qin Hao's face was heavy.
"We found him two days later. He was covered in wounds and had weak breathing. Fortunately, he survived after being sent to the hospital. But the doctor said he..." Qin Hao looked at Lin Shu with a sad face.
"What did the doctor say?" Lin Shu asked anxiously.
"Didn't he tell you just now?"
Lin Shu shook her head slowly. Thinking of what had just happened, her heart ached again.
"The doctor said there is little chance of recovery from his injured leg."
Lin Shu's heart sank. "What does this mean? Can't I stand up anymore?"
Qin Hao nodded heavily.
Lin Shu felt a pang of pain in his heart and stared blankly at the ground, not even knowing when Qin Hao left.
After a long while, Lin Shu suddenly stood up. No, she hadn't seen it yet, so she couldn't make a conclusion so early. Besides, hadn't she just said almost? That meant there was still a chance.
She immediately walked towards Han Yan's room, took a few steps and then stopped.
She sighed and turned to walk towards Aunt Liang's room. There was no rush for Han Yan's matter.
Arriving at Aunt Liang's room, Li Qiu was giving her a massage. This was Lin Shu's instruction. People who have been bedridden for a long time need to have their bodies massaged from time to time to prevent muscle atrophy.
"Lin Shu, you're here?" Li Qiu looked up at Lin Shu.
Lin Shu nodded and walked over to help press it.
"Why do things like this happen so often lately?" Li Qiu sighed.
Only then did Lin Shu realize that Li Qiu's eyes were red and his face looked sad.
"It will be fine." Lin Shu said this to himself and also to her.
"I hope so." Li Qiu forced an ugly smile.
For a moment, neither of them spoke.
After pressing for a while, Lin Shu gave Aunt Liang acupuncture treatment on her head.
After giving the last injection, Lin Shu carefully observed the reactions of the two aunts.
"How is it?" Li Qiu asked.
After a while, Lin Shu shook his head.
Li Qiu's face was instantly filled with disappointment.
After Lin Shu removed the needle from Aunt Liang's head, he gave Li Qiu some instructions as usual and left.
Lin Shu walked out of the yard and looked up at the sky with a heavy heart.
The injuries of Aunt Liang and Han Yan obviously dealt a heavy blow to the Han family. Even little Tiger was no longer as lively as before.
