Chapter 33 The tattered cloth from the supply and marketing cooperative is not even a fraction as good as my wife!

Chapter 33 The tattered cloth from the supply and marketing cooperative is not even a fraction as good as my wife!

A new bed and a new mattress, it really feels different to sleep on.

Soft and spacious, with the scent of fresh cotton and sunshine.

Jiang Wu rolled around on the bed several times, feeling as comfortable as a cat basking in the sun with its paws tucked in.

Looking at her satisfied little face, Qin Lie felt his heart soften and throb.

He hugged her from behind, resting his chin on the top of her head, inhaling her pleasant fragrance.

Is the bed comfortable?

"So comfortable!" Jiang Wu praised without reservation, "Even more comfortable than a Simmons mattress!"

"What is Simmons?" Qin Lie asked, somewhat puzzled.

"It's... a very high-end, very soft bed," Jiang Wu explained vaguely, then changed the subject and began her new round of "acting up."

She wriggled out of Qin Lie's arms, sat up, crossed her legs, and looked at him with a serious expression.

"Comrade Qin Lie."

"Here!" Qin Lie straightened his back instinctively.

"I have a very serious problem to tell you."

Jiang Wu put on a serious face and imitated his usual meeting manner.

"Speak," Qin Lie said, amused by her serious expression.

“I,” Jiang Wu cleared her throat, then drew out the word, “have—no—clothes—to—wear!”

Qin Lie was taken aback.

"How could that be? Isn't that what you have in your closet..."

He remembered that there were several pieces of clothing hanging in her closet.

"Those?" Jiang Wu scoffed, extending a slender finger to point at the floral dress she was wearing.

"Look at this one, I brought it from home, it's almost faded from washing."

She then pointed in the direction of the wardrobe.

"And that blue one, and that gray one, were made from the materials you asked the logistics department to provide after we arrived here. The style and the colors are so tacky that I'm embarrassed to wear them out!"

"The women in our military compound all dress more stylishly than me!"

"I'm your wife, Commander Qin! If I go out dressed like this, I'm not just embarrassing myself, I'm embarrassing you, Qin Lie! I'm embarrassing our entire regiment!"

She spoke with great conviction, her arguments a jumble of fallacies.

Qin Lie was both annoyed and amused.

He knew exactly what she was thinking.

This little devil is constantly trying to get him to buy her new clothes.

However, what she said does make some sense.

He felt yesterday that her outfit didn't suit her.

"Okay, I'll buy it!"

Qin Lie waved his hand, his heroic spirit soaring to the heavens.

"I'll take you to the county town tomorrow and buy you all the best-looking fabrics from the supply and marketing cooperative!"

"The cloth from the supply and marketing cooperative?" Jiang Wu curled her lips, her face showing undisguised disgust. "The 'Dacron' and khaki cloth sold in the supply and marketing cooperative? The colors are either gray or blue, or that kind of earthy yellow. The clothes made from it are as stiff as steel plates. Wearing them will rub your skin raw."

"I don't want to wear that kind of tattered fabric."

"That kind of fabric doesn't even match one ten-thousandth of my figure, my face, or my temperament!"

As she spoke, she puffed out her well-developed chest and tilted her chin up like a proud little peacock.

Qin Lie's throat went dry as he looked at her narcissistic and spoiled demeanor.

He felt that the woman wasn't complaining about the clothes; she was trying to seduce him.

He pulled her back into his arms and pinned her down.

"You little devil, if I don't discipline you for a day, you'll be climbing on the roof and tearing off the tiles."

He bit her ear, his voice hoarse.

"Then tell me, what kind of dress do you want to wear? A robe made of clouds from the sky?"

"No need for that."

Jiang Wu squirmed in his arms, trying to avoid his mischievous hands.

She tilted her head back, her bright eyes gleaming with a mischievous light.

"The clothes I want don't exist in the world yet."

"Then what should we do?" Qin Lie asked knowingly, playing along with her.

“However…” Jiang Wu deliberately dragged out her words, extending her finger to draw circles on his muscular chest, “Although it doesn’t exist in this world, I can make it exist.”

"Oh?" Qin Lie raised an eyebrow. "My wife has this ability?"

"Of course." Jiang Wu proudly raised her chin. "Just you wait, I'll draw it for you!"

The next day, Qin Lie somehow got her a stack of drawing paper and several sharpened pencils.

Jiang Wu used her dressing table as her drawing table, spread out her paper, and began her creative process.

Qin Lie initially thought she was just joking around and drawing casually.

After finishing some morning business with the troops, he returned home, wanting to see how her painting was going.

He tiptoed to the door of the inner room and quietly peeked inside.

Then, he froze.

Jiang Wu was sitting in front of the dressing table, with her back to him.

She leaned forward slightly, one hand holding the paper and the other holding a pencil, sketching rapidly on the paper.

Her movements were fluid and without the slightest hesitation.

Those simple lines seem to come alive under her pen.

In just a few minutes, the silhouette of a woman in a beautiful dress appeared on the paper.

Qin Lie had seen the artists in the cultural troupe who were engaged in artistic propaganda before.

But what they painted were heroic figures or scenes of labor, with bold lines and intense colors.

But Jiang Wu's painting is completely different.

She drew a woman.

A very fashionable and very beautiful woman.

Qin Lie suppressed his curiosity and did not disturb her.

He stood quietly at the door, watching her back.

The afternoon sunlight streamed in through the window, bathing her in a soft golden glow.

Her focused expression was as beautiful as a painting.

After an unknown amount of time, Jiang Wu finally put down her pen.

She stretched, then held up the drawing paper to the light, admiring her work with satisfaction.

Mission accomplished!

She announced it happily.

Qin Lie then cleared his throat and went inside.

"Is it finished? Let me see."

Upon hearing his voice, Jiang Wu eagerly handed over the drawing paper in her hand, as if presenting a treasure.

"Ta-da! Look, this is the new clothes I wanted!"

Qin Lie took the drawing paper.

The moment his gaze fell on the drawing paper, he froze.

On the drawing paper are three women wearing different styles of dresses.

The first one is a white dress with a small Peter Pan collar, a high waistline, and a wide skirt adorned with delicate embroidered flowers. The woman in the painting has her hands behind her back, her head slightly tilted, looking pure and sweet.

The second one is a pale yellow dress with a square neckline that reveals her beautiful collarbone. The sleeves are puffy, and the skirt is A-line, ending just at the knee. The woman in the painting is standing with her hands on her hips, smiling brightly, radiating youthful energy.

The third is a red dress. The V-neck design boldly showcases feminine charm. The dress is fitted at the waist and hugs the hips, perfectly outlining the curves of the body. The woman in the painting is tossing her hair with one hand, her eyes alluring, exuding the charm of a mature woman.

Each of these three dresses was a style that Qin Lie had never seen before.

These were completely different from the drab, baggy clothes he knew.

They are so... beautiful!

So beautiful you can't take your eyes off her!

Even more alarming, Qin Lie discovered that although the faces of the three women in the painting were only outlined with a few strokes, their eyebrows, eyes, and expressions were clearly drawn based on Jiang Wu's appearance!

He could almost picture what it would look like when his young wife wore those dresses.

Wearing that white dress, she looked like a fairy untouched by worldly affairs.

Wearing that yellow dress, she becomes a bright and lively girl next door.

Wear that red one...

She's a bewitching enchantress!

Qin Lie felt his breathing become heavy.

His hand holding the drawing paper, his knuckles were clearly visible from the force he was exerting.

"This...this is your drawing?"

He looked up at Jiang Wu, his eyes filled with disbelief.

“Yes.” Jiang Wu nodded as if to take credit, pointing to the white dress and saying, “Look at this one, I call it ‘First Love,’ isn’t it very pure?”

She then pointed to the yellow one: "This one is called 'Warm Sunshine,' it would definitely look great on a picnic."

Finally, her fingers landed on the red dress, and a sly smile curved her lips.

"This one... is called 'Blazing Fire'. I want to wear it... and dance for you."

She leaned close to Qin Lie's ear, her breath sweet as orchids.

"I'm dancing this just for you."

Qin Lie felt all the blood in his body rush to his head with a "boom".

He couldn't hold back any longer.

He abruptly threw down the drawing paper in his hand, picked up the little devil in one scoop, and strode towards the new bed where they had just slept for one night.

"I think you're the one who's 'Fire'!"

He squeezed out a few words through clenched teeth, his voice frighteningly hoarse.

"They came specifically to burn me alive!"

The room's enchanting beauty goes without saying.

Once the storm had passed, Jiang Wu, like a badly bullied kitten, curled up in Qin Lie's arms, too lazy to even move a finger.

Qin Lie hugged his precious baby with satisfaction, but his mind was still replaying those design drawings.

The more he thought about it, the more alarmed he became.

How many surprises does his young wife still hold that he doesn't know about?

Such drawing skills, such advanced aesthetics and design abilities, are simply not something an ordinary country girl could possess.

He suddenly remembered the braised pork she made when they had just gotten married.

He had never seen that kind of practice before.

And the composure and shrewdness with which she handled Wenxue's matter.

And her composure and thoughtfulness when dealing with Zhao Gao's injury.

All of this was completely different from the timid, cowardly, and even somewhat rustic "Jiang Wu" he remembered.

A huge question, like a seed, quietly sprouted in Qin Lie's heart.

He looked down at the woman sleeping soundly in his arms; her beautiful sleeping face was serene and harmless.

But for the first time, Qin Lie began to doubt her identity.

"Jiang Wu..." He couldn't help but reach out and gently stroke her cheek, murmuring softly, "Who... exactly are you?"
