Chapter 50 Your music is meant to kill me!

Chapter 50 Your music is meant to kill me!

"They are professors from the Central Conservatory of Music!"

"I came here specifically to see Comrade Jiang Wu!"

The words of the bodyguard, Xiao Li, left Qin Lie's mind blank.

Central Conservatory of Music?

A place that musicians all over the country want to get into.

The professor from there came all the way to this island just to find his wife.

Qin Lie tightened his grip on the phone receiver.

On the other end of the phone, Xiao Wang from the propaganda department was still shouting "General Regiment" and "Special Recruitment," but Qin Lie couldn't hear a single word.

Only one thought remained in his mind.

They're coming to take Jiang Wu away from him.

Qin Lie felt both angry and terrified.

He slammed the phone back down with a "bang," the black bakelite telephone making a dull thud.

Where are they?!

Qin Lie turned around, staring at Xiao Li with reddened eyes.

"Where...is he?!"

Xiao Li was so frightened by the murderous aura emanating from him that his legs went weak.

"At...the courtyard gate...he said he wanted to see his sister-in-law..."

Before he could finish speaking, Qin Lie had already rushed out of the office.

He doesn't care about discipline, image, or future prospects anymore.

If someone tries to harm his manhood, he will fight that person to the death.

Qin Lie ran all the way home to his family compound.

When the military spouses in the family compound saw him like this, they all quickly moved away.

He rushed to the gate of his own yard.

A green Jeep with a Beijing license plate was parked outside the courtyard gate.

Two men were standing next to the car.

One wore wire-rimmed glasses and had neatly styled hair. The other was a bit chubby and carried a briefcase.

The two men were dressed in cadre uniforms, with refined manners, but also an air of arrogance.

Zhou Nianci and several military wives were blocking the doorway.

"Comrades, what do you need Xiao Wu for? She's resting!" Zhou Nianci spread her arms to block the view.

The bespectacled man adjusted his glasses and said politely, "Madam, we mean no harm. We are professors from the Central Conservatory of Music, and we have something very important to discuss with Comrade Jiang Wu."

"Can't we wait until Commander Qin returns to discuss this?"

“We’re here to see Comrade Jiang Wu, not Commander Qin,” the portly professor said, sounding somewhat impatient. “This concerns Comrade Jiang Wu’s future and the development of the nation’s music industry. We hope you won’t obstruct us.”

Upon hearing this, Zhou Nianci and the others lost their confidence.

The development of the national music industry is too much of a burden.

Just then, Qin Lie's roar came.

"Nobody the hell is going to see you!"

Everyone turned around and saw Qin Lie striding over with a dark expression.

He stood like a wall, blocking the entrance to the courtyard, his tall figure obstructing the way.

His eyes were bloodshot as he glanced at the two professors.

“I am Qin Lie!” he squeezed out the words through gritted teeth.

"My wife is tired and needs to rest. She doesn't want to see anyone! You can leave now!"

That's a very impolite statement.

The two professors' expressions changed.

"You're Comrade Qin Lie?" The bespectacled professor frowned. "What kind of attitude is this? We're here on behalf of the university to give your wife a good opportunity! How can you..."

"I don't care about your opportunities!" Qin Lie interrupted him, took a step forward, and his murderous aura pressed down on him.

"I'll say it again, get out! Or don't blame me for arresting and interrogating you as enemy agents!"

The two professors were so frightened by his unreasonable and aggressive demeanor that they backed away.

They were academics and had never seen anything like this before.

This isn't about reasoning; it's about taking action.

The atmosphere in the courtyard became tense.

Just then, the courtyard gate creaked open.

Jiang Wu, dressed in a white dress, stood quietly at the door.

She glanced at everyone, then looked at Qin Lie, whose whole body was tense.

Her face was calm.

"Qin Lie".

She called out softly.

Qin Lie froze, and most of his murderous aura subsided.

He turned to look at Jiang Wu, his heart filled with worry and fear.

"Wife, what are you doing out here? Go back inside! I'll handle things here!"

Jiang Wu ignored him and looked at the two professors with grim expressions.

She bowed slightly, her voice not loud, but everyone could hear her clearly.

"Professors, you've come all this way, you must be tired. My husband is right, I am indeed a bit tired today. Why don't you stay at the guesthouse for a couple of days, and I'll visit you then?"

Her voice was calm, reasonable, and measured.

The two professors exchanged a glance, and their initial anger dissipated somehow.

They couldn't bring themselves to say what they had prepared.

You can't force someone to talk if they say they're not feeling well.

If word gets out, the Central Conservatory of Music will lose face.

“…Okay.” The bespectacled professor nodded. “Then we’ll wait for news from Comrade Jiang Wu.”

After saying that, they got into the jeep and drove away amidst the strange looks from the other military wives around them.

Jiang Wu defused the situation.

Zhou Nianci and the others breathed a sigh of relief, told Jiang Wu about what had just happened, and then scolded Qin Lie for being too impulsive.

Jiang Wu smiled and told them to go back first.

Only Qin Lie and Jiang Wu remained at the entrance of the courtyard.

Qin Lie slammed the courtyard gate shut and bolted it.

He turned around, said nothing, and pulled Jiang Wu into his arms.

He hugged her very tightly, so tightly that Jiang Wu's bones ached a little.

Jiang Wu could feel him trembling.

He was terrified.

"Qin Lie, didn't I tell you?" Jiang Wu sighed and patted his back, "Whether I go or not is my own decision."

"I know," Qin Lie's muffled voice came from the crook of her neck, "but I'm just scared."

"I'm afraid their words will tempt you."

“I’m afraid that the capital is a better place than here, and a better place than me.”

I'm afraid that one day you won't want me anymore.

This tough man on the outside is now like a helpless child.

Jiang Wu's heart softened.

She cupped his face in her hands and looked intently into his eyes.

"Qin Lie, listen to me. There are many places in this world better than this little courtyard. And there are many people who understand my playing better than you, and who are more cultured than you."

Qin Lie's heart sank little by little.

“But,” Jiang Wu tiptoed and kissed him on the lips.

"None of them are you."

"Only you are my man."

"Only this place is our home."

Qin Lie's heart, which had been hanging in suspense, finally settled down.

He looked at her, at the seriousness in her eyes, and the restlessness and panic in his heart were replaced by another, stronger emotion.

He lowered his head and kissed her.

The kiss was full of possessiveness, as if it wanted to devour her whole.

It's late at night.

Qin Lie lay in bed, unable to sleep.

The scene from the daytime kept replaying in his mind.

He was specially recruited by the troupe and became a professor at the music academy.

His wife's brilliance was so dazzling that it made him feel uneasy.

He turned over and hugged Jiang Wu, who was fast asleep beside him, even tighter.

The familiar scent emanating from her calmed his unease somewhat.

"Wife," he whispered in the darkness.

"Hmm?" Jiang Wu responded groggily.

"Play the piano for me one more time," Qin Lie said sullenly.

"Now?" Jiang Wu was somewhat surprised.

"Yes, now." Qin Lie's voice was stubborn. "Right here in this room, just for me."

Jiang Wu looked at his silhouette in the darkness.

She knew he hadn't gotten over the hurdle in his heart yet.

The piano she plays during the day is for outsiders.

He wanted a proof that belonged only to him.

“Okay.” Jiang Wu did not refuse.

She got out of Qin Lie's arms and put on her coat.

Qin Lie also sat up and turned on the small bedside lamp.

Jiang Wu took the guqin out of its case and placed it on the floor beside the bed, then sat cross-legged on the bed.

She was completely under Qin Lie's gaze.

There was no piano table, no incense burner, and no audience.

There was only one lamp, an anxious man, and a woman willing to comfort him.

Jiang Wu's hands rested on the strings of the zither.

This time, she did not play "Phoenix Seeking Its Mate".

Her fingertips hooked, plucked, stroked, and twisted the strings.

A string of delicate notes rang out in the quiet night.

The music was completely different from what I heard during the day.

There was neither fervor nor desolation.

The music was tender and seductive, entangling the heart inch by inch.

Qin Lie sat on the bed, feeling his blood start to heat up.

His breathing became heavier.

His eyes were fixed on the woman in front of him, unblinking.

Under the light, her profile was beautiful.

Her fingers danced across the strings, each movement exuding charm.

It wasn't the strings of the instrument that were being plucked, but his heart.

Qin Lie felt a surge of heat within him.

He never knew that a musical instrument could produce such a captivating sound.

The music grew increasingly urgent.

The last note stopped.

The lingering sound seemed to still carry a hook.

Jiang Wu raised her head, her moist eyes sparkling under the light.

"Did it sound good?" Her voice was hoarse and breathless after playing the piano.

Qin Lie couldn't utter a single word.

He pounced on her like a wolf that had been starving for a long time, and pinned her down.

"Jiang Wu!" He bit her ear, his voice hoarse, "Your music is meant to kill me on your body!"

The lights inside the room were knocked off, causing them to sway and then go out.

Only heavy breathing and suppressed sounds remained intertwined in the darkness.

Qin Lie wanted to etch all his unease and fear into her body through this method.

He wanted her to remember that no matter how high she flew, she would always be Qin Lie's woman!

After the storm, Qin Lie held his exhausted wife in his arms with a satisfied heart, feeling that his restless heart had finally calmed down completely.

He felt he could never leave this woman for the rest of his life.

He would do anything for her, and he would give up anything for her.

Just as he was drifting off to sleep, the phone on his bedside table suddenly rang.

The bell rang loudly at night.

Qin Lie frowned, afraid of waking Jiang Wu, and carefully picked up the receiver.

"Hello?"

A static sound came from the other end of the phone, followed by a cold, authoritative female voice.

"Is that Qin Lie?"

Qin Lie's heart tightened.

That sound...

"I am your mother."

P.S.: This last sentence sounds like an insult!
