Chapter 78 Jiang Wu's Decision! She couldn't just sit and wait to die!

Chapter 78 Jiang Wu's Decision! She couldn't just sit and wait to die!

He's still alive!

This thought, like a flame, reignited in Jiang Wu's cold and lifeless heart. Faint, yet enough to start a prairie fire.

She abruptly turned around, no longer looking at the raging sea, and quickly walked in the opposite direction from the military compound. There lay the island's fishing port.

She could no longer place her hopes on anyone. The military's search and rescue forces were powerful, but they were facing the might of nature—a super typhoon that humanity could not resist. Faced with such destructive force, even the most advanced aircraft and ships could be easily destroyed. Moreover, they were conducting a aimless, grid-like search on the vast ocean; the efficiency was predictably low.

But she is different.

She possessed that faint yet unmistakable bloodline connection. Like a living radar, she knew Qin Lie's approximate location!

She couldn't wait! Every minute she waited, Qin Lie's life force would slip away!

She has to go!

Jiang Wu quickened her pace, her mind racing. She remembered that Qin Lie had taught her a lot about navigation. At the time, he had only considered it a kind of fun between husband and wife, pointing to the nautical chart and telling her how to tell directions, how to read the tides, and how to drive the simplest small fishing boat.

"Honey, look, this is how you use the rudder. When the wind comes from this side, you need to adjust the sail to this angle..."

"If you get lost at sea, look for the North Star at night and the sun during the day. If it's cloudy, watch the direction of the ocean currents..."

"These small fishing boats on our island, though dilapidated, are all made of the finest hardwood. They have a deep draft and are much more resistant to wind and waves than you might imagine..."

Those words that she had once ignored now echoed in her mind with unparalleled clarity.

She arrived at the fishing port. Due to the typhoon warning, all the fishing boats had already returned to port to take shelter from the storm. Large and small boats were densely packed in the harbor, colliding with each other in the wind and waves, making creaking and groaning sounds.

The docks were deserted. The fishermen were all sheltering in their homes, reinforcing their doors and windows in preparation for the approaching storm.

This was perfect, as it made her movements much easier.

Her eyes darted quickly across the fishing boats. She was looking for one. A boat that was sturdy enough, small enough, and... had enough fuel.

Soon, her gaze settled on an inconspicuous small diesel-powered fishing boat in the far corner of the dock.

The boat looked quite old; much of the paint had peeled off, but the hull lines were smooth, and the keel structure appeared exceptionally sturdy. More importantly, Jiang Wu remembered that the boat's owner was a notoriously lazy fisherman on the island. He had just filled up the tank a couple of days ago, preparing for a long voyage, but he got drunk, overslept, and left the boat stranded there.

This is it!

Jiang Wu walked towards the ship without hesitation.

She untied the rope and nimbly jumped onto the deck. A strong smell of fish and diesel fumes hit her. Without the slightest disgust, she went straight into the small, rudimentary wheelhouse.

Inside the cockpit, the steering wheel, compass, throttle... everything was exactly as Qin Lie had described.

She took a deep breath, reached out, and placed her hand on the cold start button.

Just then, a panicked and anxious voice came from the dock.

"Jiang Wu! What are you doing?! Get down here right now!"

It's Political Commissar Wang!

Several soldiers and their wives who had rushed to the scene after hearing the news followed him, including Zhou Nianci.

As Political Commissar Wang pondered this in the command room, the more he thought about it, the more uneasy he felt. He knew Jiang Wu's character: this woman was gentle on the outside but strong on the inside, definitely not the kind of ordinary military dependent who would sit idly by and wait for death. He sent someone to check on the Qin family's courtyard, and sure enough, it was deserted. His heart skipped a beat, and the first place that came to mind was the fishing port!

"Political Commissar?" Jiang Wu turned around, looking at the anxious faces on the dock, her expression eerily calm. "You've arrived."

"Are you crazy, Jiang Wu?!" Political Commissar Wang trembled with rage. "Do you even know what the weather is like outside?! A category 17 typhoon! Going out now is suicide! Not only are you going to your death, but you're taking Qin Lie's child with you! How can you face him?!"

"Xiao Wu! Come down quickly!" Zhou Nianci stamped her feet anxiously, tears streaming down her face. "You can't do anything foolish! Chief of Staff Qin is a lucky man, he'll be alright! If something happens to you rushing out like this, how will we explain it to Chief of Staff Qin!"

"An explanation?" Jiang Wu smiled softly, but the smile was filled with endless sorrow and determination. "If he doesn't come back, I can't go on living either. On the road to the underworld, the three of us can keep each other company."

"As for an explanation... I'm going to give him an explanation!" Her voice suddenly rose, and her eyes flashed with an almost insane, terrifying light!

"You can't find him, but I can!"

“I can feel that he’s still alive! He’s in that direction, waiting for me!” She stretched out her hand and pointed to the dark, lightning-filled southeastern sea.

"You are soldiers, you must obey orders and follow scientific principles. You cannot go, but I am not a soldier!"

"I'm just an ordinary wife who's on her way to find my husband!"

Her words shocked everyone present. Looking at the heavily pregnant woman before them, her expression resolute, they were momentarily speechless, unsure how to respond.

They thought she was crazy. But her eyes were so clear, so... convincing.

"Nonsense! This is utter nonsense!" Political Commissar Wang was the first to react. He shouted sternly at the soldiers behind him, "What are you all standing there for?! Go up! Drag her down! Tie her up if you want!"

"Yes!" The two soldiers immediately rushed onto the ship.

However, just as they were about to jump onto the deck, Jiang Wu pressed the start button.

"Buzz—"

The fishing boat's diesel engine let out a deep roar, and a plume of black smoke billowed from the stern.

"Political Commissar, Sister-in-law Zhou, everyone." Jiang Wu stood in the driver's seat, taking one last look at the people on the dock. A smile of apology, yet unwavering determination, appeared on her face.

"Tell my baby that his mother went to find his father and that she is a hero."

After saying that, she suddenly pushed the accelerator and simultaneously turned the steering wheel rapidly!

The small fishing boat, like an arrow released from a bow, instantly turned its bow, bypassed the other moored vessels, rushed out of the harbor's protection, and plunged headlong into the black sea, where the winds raged and it looked like the entrance to hell!

"Jiang Wu—"

"sister in law--"

A heart-wrenching scream came from the code.

Political Commissar Wang watched as the small boat, like a tiny leaf in the towering waves, was tossed to the crest of a wave and then slammed into the trough, yet stubbornly continued to rush towards the center of the storm. He felt a wave of dizziness wash over him.

He collapsed onto the cold dock.

It's over.

This is really the end.

Qin Lie, now also has his wife and unborn child...

How can he explain this to the military region? How can he explain this to the Qin family's former superior?

Gale-force winds, torrential rain, giant waves, lightning, and thunder.

The whole world seemed to have fallen into a doomsday frenzy.

And in this hellish place, a small fishing boat and a heavily pregnant woman are embarking on a journey of a thousand miles alone, a journey unknown to the world, both tragic and audacious.
