Chapter 8 Commander Qin's face darkened; he'd deal with him when they got home!
Qin Lie carried Jiang Wu and traveled at a brisk pace.
His face was covered in black smears from the woman.
The woman in his arms, however, was quite unruly.
She was wrapped in his military coat, like a silkworm, with only her small face and a pair of bright, darting eyes showing.
She stopped struggling and started testing his limits in other ways.
"Honey, slow down, I'm dizzy."
Her soft, sweet voice came from his chest.
Qin Lie's pace slowed down subconsciously.
"Honey, you're holding me so tight, I can't breathe."
Qin Lie's arm loosened slightly again, almost unconsciously.
"Honey, you smell so good."
Qin Lie: "..."
His face darkened further.
This woman is his nemesis!
He was seething with anger and wanted to settle scores with her. But with just a few words from her, all his anger turned into an inexplicable, burning heat.
The distance from the beach to their barracks was only a few hundred meters. But Qin Lie felt as if he had walked for an eternity.
Along the way, they encountered many military wives who were out for a walk after finishing their meals.
When the military wives saw him holding Jiang Wu in that position, they all showed expressions of shock and gossip. Then they gathered together, whispering and pointing.
Qin Lie had lived for twenty-six years, and this was the first time he had ever felt what it meant to be "like a thorn in one's back".
He wished he could step into his home, close the door, and shut everyone out.
Finally, he arrived at the gate of his own courtyard.
He rudely kicked open the courtyard gate, picked up Jiang Wu, and strode into the house.
With a loud "bang!"
He slammed the door shut from the inside and locked it.
The world is finally quiet.
Qin Lie breathed a sigh of relief.
Then he turned around and threw the person in his arms onto the bed.
The movements were far from gentle.
Jiang Wu cried out "Ouch!" as she was thrown, bouncing on the bed. Her military jacket came undone with the movement, revealing a fiery red dress and a patch of breathtakingly white skin underneath.
Qin Lie stood by the bed, looking down at her.
His chest heaved violently. Two suppressed flames burned in his eyes.
His gaze seemed to want to devour her alive.
"Jiang Wu!"
He gritted his teeth and called her name, word by word.
"You've got some nerve!"
Jiang Wu sat up in bed, rubbing her sore bottom. She looked up and met his fiery eyes, but instead of being afraid, she smiled at him.
"Honey, are you angry?"
She asked the question knowing the answer already.
"I'm asking you!"
Qin Lie stepped forward, placing his hands on either side of her body, trapping her between the bed and him.
"Who told you to go out dressed like that?!"
His voice was hoarse and deep, carrying a dangerous air.
The distance between the two people instantly shortened.
His intense masculine scent, a mixture of sweat and sunshine, enveloped her completely.
Jiang Wu could even see the corners of his eyes, which were slightly red from anger, and the veins bulging on his forehead.
"Isn't it pretty?"
She blinked her innocent big eyes, reached out, and gently tugged at the strap of her dress.
"I think it looks pretty good."
"nice?"
Qin Lie sneered as if he had heard the biggest joke in the world.
"It was so beautiful that all the men on the beach had their eyes pop out! It was so beautiful that they were all completely mesmerized!"
"Jiang Wu, do you even know what kind of person you look today dressed like this!"
He became increasingly angry as he spoke, and his voice grew louder and louder.
"What do you mean?" Jiang Wu tilted her head.
"Shameless!"
Qin Lie roared out those four words.
He regretted it as soon as he yelled.
He saw the smile on the woman's face slowly freeze. The bright light in her eyes gradually dimmed.
Instead, a layer of water mist quickly covered it.
Her lips trembled slightly, as if she had suffered a great injustice.
"You...you're saying I'm shameless?"
Her voice carried a barely perceptible sob.
Qin Lie's heart clenched for no apparent reason.
He knew he had spoken too harshly.
However, the thought of her being stared at like that by so many men on the beach today made it impossible for him to suppress the lust in his heart.
Isn't that so?
He turned his face away, refusing to look at her tearful eyes, but his words remained stubborn.
"What respectable family's daughter-in-law would dress like this and flaunt her like that!"
"Showy?"
Jiang Wu repeated those two words, then suddenly laughed, but the laugh carried a hint of desolation and self-mockery.
"I just went to the beach to collect a few seashells, hoping to decorate this house a little nicer."
"I just thought this dress was pretty and wanted to wear it to show you."
"I just... want to be a wife that makes you proud, not ashamed."
As she spoke, tears finally welled up in her eyes and slid down her cheeks.
That tear was like a drop of scalding lava, falling onto Qin Lie's heart and making him shudder violently.
"I don't know if everything I do is wrong in your heart."
"I am shameless in everything I do."
She sniffed and wiped the tears from her face haphazardly with the back of her hand.
"Qin Lie, have you... never believed me?"
Do you think that everything I said before about wanting to live a good life with you was a lie?
Her questioning was like a hammer, striking Qin Lie's heart again and again, leaving him speechless.
yes.
Did he ever trust her?
From the moment she tore up the divorce papers, he had been suspicious of her. He suspected her motives, he suspected her purpose.
He felt that she was acting and using tricks.
He never truly believed her.
"I……"
Qin Lie opened his mouth, wanting to say something in his defense, but he found that he couldn't utter a single word.
Looking at her tear-streaked face and her eyes filled with disappointment and hurt, a wave of regret and heartache he had never felt before surged into his heart.
Did he... really misunderstand her?
Was he... really going too far?
"I'm sorry..."
He wanted to apologize.
But before he could say "I'm sorry," the woman on the bed suddenly made a move.
She suddenly lunged forward, stretched out her arms, and hugged his neck tightly, burying her tear-streaked face deep into the crook of his neck.
Warm tears instantly soaked the fabric around his neck.
"Qin Lie..."
She sobbed in his ear, her voice trembling with tears.
"Please don't hate me, okay?"
"I will listen to you from now on."
"I'll wear whatever you tell me to wear."
"Please don't abandon me..."
The girl's body trembled incessantly in his arms, like a frightened, homeless little animal, so fragile that it broke his heart.
Qin Lie froze completely.
All his anger and all his questions vanished the moment she embraced him, leaving only helplessness and...guilt.
His hand remained frozen in mid-air for a long time before finally landing slowly on her back, patting her gently as if to comfort her.
"I don't... do you want me or not."
His voice was dry and hoarse.
"Really?"
The person in his arms raised their head, their eyes red and swollen from crying, looking at him expectantly like a little rabbit.
"Um."
Qin Lie nodded with difficulty.
Upon receiving his affirmative answer, Jiang Wu's face instantly brightened.
She stopped crying and started laughing.
Then, she did something that Qin Lie never expected.
She stood on tiptoe and tilted her head back.
Those two lips, still wet with tears and appearing exceptionally moist and full, were pressed against his thin lips.
P.S.: I got scolded by my boss today, so I'm a little unhappy.
Tomato is absolutely amazing, number one in the universe without a doubt!
