Chapter 1 Demolition and Stockpiling

"One, ten, hundred, thousand, ten thousand, one hundred thousand, one million, ten million."

"It's finally in the account."

Lin Yian sat up from the bed, walked to the balcony and looked at the unobstructed sea view outside, feeling happy.

The sun is so nice.

She, Lin Yian, was an abandoned baby picked up by her grandfather, who raised her alone.

I am 26 years old this year. After being a social animal for four years, I have become a member of the demolition generation.

After the college entrance examination that year, she took her scholarship to take her grandfather on a trip when they had a car accident and her grandfather died on the spot. Although she had a limp in one leg, she survived in the end.

The driver was sentenced to prison but had no money to compensate for the damage.

But her grandfather had no children, so she refused further treatment and was discharged early, using the last donation to hold her grandfather's funeral.

A lame leg is a lame leg, she doesn’t care whether it hurts or not.

It would be better to use this money to let grandpa rest in peace.

Afterwards, Lin Yian took out a student loan during the last possible moment, locked the supermarket that the old man had run for most of his life, and went to Shanghai to attend university, dragging his still aching legs.

She did not return to her hometown after graduating from college because no one was waiting for her there.

Lin Yian relied on his ruthlessness to stay in Shanghai, planning to find a warm small city to live out his life after saving enough money.

After all, Shanghai is too cold in winter, and the injury on my leg always hurts.

However, she didn't expect that the supermarket her grandfather left for her would fulfill her wish ahead of time.

My hometown was going to be developed, and the land where the supermarket was located and the hill behind it happened to be included in the demolition area.

After several negotiations, she finally received 15 million in compensation.

After signing the agreement, Lin Yian immediately took out his savings and signed an agreement with a funeral studio with a good reputation. They would ensure that someone would come to exchange offerings for his grandfather every week, and that people would come to worship and sweep the grave during festivals.

She packed her simple luggage and checked out of the house.

He left the bustling city of Shanghai and came to Yunnan Province, the southernmost province in China, and rented a small courtyard by the sea.

It is spring-like here all year round, and the sunshine is so warm that she can almost ignore the pain in her body.

After receiving the compensation, Lin Yian changed into new clothes and planned to go out for a good meal to reward himself.

Lin Yian was limping through the ancient city of Y Province looking for food, and a fortune-telling stall on the side of the road caught her attention.

"How much is it?"

She was in a good mood today and wanted to hear some nice words, even if they were lies.

"The girl is about to die, but there is still a glimmer of hope."

Lin Yian propped up his head and looked at the blind man opposite him: "Are you going to say that my only hope of survival lies with you?"

The blind fortuneteller groped in his pocket and took out a bead and handed it to Lin Yian: "The girl's life is not with me. But you and I are destined to meet today, so I will give this to you as a souvenir."

Lin Yian didn't know why this blind man didn't take the usual path.

Does she look that gullible?

Lin Yian took the bead and looked at it carefully. It was just a simple amber bead with a beautiful pattern.

Lin Yian took out five hundred yuan and placed it in front of the blind man.

"Although I know I won't live long, your lies are still pretty nice. I'm happy today, so take this money and have a few good meals."

Lin Yian put the beads into his pocket and limped away from the fortune-telling stall.

And the fortune teller shook his head.

well.

The world is becoming more and more corrupt. Now even a blind man like me, no one believes me when I tell the truth.

However, he is a dying man with a kind heart...

After finishing his meal, Lin Yian returned to the courtyard, skillfully opened a pile of medicine bottles, took out a handful of colorful pills and swallowed them.

Lin Yian took a blanket and walked into the courtyard, where he found a recliner and took an afternoon nap.

It's more comfortable to sleep here in this weather.

"Go home, I want to go home, I want to go home!"

“I want to go to college.”

"I want them all to be okay."

Lin Yian broke out in a cold sweat. When he opened his eyes, he found that he was still in the yard and everything was the same as usual.

But the disappearing amber bead in her pocket told her that what had just happened was not just a dream.

"I didn't expect that after changing time and space, I would still be so miserable."

"I don't know if I can see you again..."

Lin Yian put the blanket away, locked the gate and walked towards the ancient city.

Sure enough, the fortune-telling stall had disappeared.

Lin Yian turned and left, took out his cell phone and booked a flight back home.

Time is running out.

Go see grandpa.

In the cemetery.

"Grandpa, this wine is your favorite. I brought it to you."

Lin Yian poured a glass of wine and placed it in front of the tombstone. The grandfather on the tombstone still had a kind smile on his face.

It’s a pity that the grandparents and grandchildren are separated forever.

Lin Yian sat down next to the tombstone, took out a cup, poured himself a glass of wine and drank it.

"Grandpa, you always said that fortune and misfortune go hand in hand. So when the doctor told me I had bone cancer, I knew there would be good fortune waiting for me in the future!"

Lin Yian couldn't help but have tears in his eyes. He took a deep breath and filled his glass again. "Sure enough, our supermarket was demolished in the next second. Look, what a great thing happened to me!"

“Pah.”

Drop after drop of tears fell on the stone floor in front of the tombstone.

Lin Yian raised his head and finished the wine in the glass: "But now I can survive, and I have a great treasure. It's just that I can't come to see you again, but I believe that we will meet again if we are destined to be together."
