Chapter 30 Returning to My Mother's Home (Part 2)
Lin Yunxi gently patted her mother's back and comforted her, "Mom, I was wrong before. I know you and my dad are doing this for my own good."
The mother and daughter cried and laughed as they spoke their true feelings.
Lin's mother apologized to her daughter, saying that they shouldn't have ignored her advice.
Lin Yunxi also apologized to her mother, saying that she shouldn't be so willful, and cut off contact with her family. The two finally resolved their misunderstandings.
It took a long time for the mother and daughter to calm down.
Lin Yunxi took out all the things he had brought and gave them to his mother, just like a child who had received a reward.
"Mom, this is a gift from me to you and my dad. Please keep it."
Mother Lin saw pork belly, spare ribs, a big carp, a large piece of beef brisket, so many fruits, and a large can of malted milk.
Her eyes widened instantly, and she said in a somewhat harsh tone: "Did you pick up your money for nothing? You bought so many things and your father and I have everything we need."
Generally, it is considered very good for a married daughter to bring back a pound and a half of pork when she returns to her parents' home.
Her daughter was really good. She brought more than 10 kilograms of meat and a big bag of juicy fruits. Mother Lin had every reason to suspect that her daughter had emptied out her parents' home.
"Oh, Mom, I finally get to come back, so I have to show my filial piety to you and my dad." Lin Yunxi said coquettishly.
But no matter how filial you are, you can't bring so many things back to your parents' home. If your parents-in-law knew about it, they would be upset.
"How about this, leave two pounds of pork, and take the rest with you when you go back." Lin's mother thought of a compromise.
As parents, they don't ask their daughters to be extremely filial, they just hope that they can gain a foothold in their husband's family.
So after their daughter got married, Lin's father and mother often asked their youngest son to bring some things to visit his in-laws, so that their daughter could live well and comfortably in her husband's home.
The love that parents have for their children is a natural and spontaneous love, like a downpour from heaven, so abundant that no one can stop it and nothing can resist it.
Lin Yunxi knew what her parents were thinking, so she explained.
"Mom, don't worry. I brought it for you. My parents-in-law also have it. I am equally filial to both parents."
"Look, my mother-in-law asked me to bring you half a bag of peanuts, saying that she wanted you and my dad to make peanut oil for us."
Her daughter has always been straightforward and could not hide anything in her heart, so Lin's mother naturally believed it, but she still patiently reminded her.
"Just this once, don't do this again next time."
"Don't worry, Mom." But I will dare to do it again next time, Lin Yunxi said silently in his heart.
The things she brought back to her parents' home were all grown and raised by herself, and the money she spent was also earned by herself.
Therefore, Lin Yunxi gave these things as a matter of course and openly.
Moreover, as an independent modern woman with higher education, Lin Yunxi would never allow herself to be a dodder, relying on her husband first and then on her son.
When Yanyan reaches kindergarten age, she plans to start her own business and live her own life.
It’s almost time to make lunch, Lin Yunxi suggested.
"My dad and my brother still have to work in the afternoon, so let's eat something better at noon and cook all this meat and fish."
My goodness! Lin's mother glanced at her daughter and directly rejected her suggestion.
"I'll cook the spare ribs for lunch and roast a fish. We also have a piece of bacon left over from Chinese New Year. That's about it."
The Lin family has not yet split up. Except for Lin Ansu who is studying in the county town, now with Lin Yunxi, there are a total of seven adults and five children in the family.
This little bit of meat is enough for each person to have a few bites.
In the end, Lin Yunxi persuaded them to add another dish of sauerkraut pork stewed with vermicelli.
In the kitchen, Lin Yunxi took the spatula first and said confidently, "Mom, I'll make this lunch today. Let you and my dad have a taste of my cooking skills."
My daughter separated from the family soon after she got married, and I have been cooking for myself in the past two years.
Lin's mother did not stop her. On the contrary, she was looking forward to it.
Calculating the ingredients in the kitchen, Lin Yunxi quickly formulated the menu for today's lunch:
Potato and pork ribs stewed with beans, sauerkraut pork stewed with vermicelli, fish head with chopped pepper, boiled fish, stir-fried bacon with dried bamboo shoots, three fresh vegetables, garlic-flavored water spinach and roasted eggplant.
Mother Lin looked at Lin Yunxi pouring oil into the pot with some distress. The amount of oil she used to cook this meal was almost as much as she used in a week.
Soon, smelling the fragrance in the air, Lin's mother no longer cared about feeling distressed, she said in surprise.
"Yunxi, when did your cooking skills become so good?"
It makes sense for Lin's mother to ask this. After all, her daughter had basically never cooked at home before she got married.
I just cook some cornmeal and steam some buns. I have never made any dishes that require any technical skills.
With the original owner's memory and Lin Yunxi's deliberate kindness, she now regards Lin's mother as her own mother.
Hearing this, she said childishly and narcissistically, "Cooking is not difficult. I just learned it from a cookbook I accidentally found before. I can learn it easily."
When Lin's mother heard this, she felt a little proud. Her daughter was very smart since she was young and could learn anything quickly.
If the university hadn't been cancelled, there might have been a college student in their family.
"My daughter is amazing." Mother Lin was happy today and praised her generously.
Over there, Lin's father Lin Cunshan, Lin's elder and second brothers, and Lin's elder and second sisters-in-law walked home together after work.
When they were still some distance away from home, the group smelled an overbearing and unignorable fragrance wafting in the wind, causing everyone to swallow their saliva.
"Whose meal smells so good? Let me smell it. There is meat and fish. Are you not planning to celebrate this year?" Lin Xinghe grinned and joked.
Lin Yunchuan glanced at his laughing second brother and agreed, "It's not our family anyway."
"That's true."
Their mother is a frugal person and it is impossible for her to eat both fish and meat at once.
Lin Xiaoxiao and her friends couldn't wait to eat after smelling the delicious food prepared by their aunt, but their grandmother said they had to wait until their grandfather and the others came back before they could eat.
Just as Father Lin and his companions turned the corner, they saw several children coming towards them enthusiastically, each holding an adult's hand and dragging them forward.
Lin Xiaoxiao, who was in the lead, couldn't wait to shout, "Grandpa, Mom, Dad, Uncle, and Aunt, hurry up. My aunt has made a lot of delicious food and is waiting for you."
