Chapter 4 Our baby is so cute

Chapter 4 Our baby is so cute

Mother Gu waved her hands: "What's the trouble? Yanyan is my grandson. Isn't it my responsibility to take care of him?"

"You've just recovered. Don't overwork yourself. Let Yanyan come down and walk by herself." As Gu's mother said this, she was about to go forward and pick up her grandson.

Gu Jiayan pouted and was unwilling. He hugged his mother's neck tightly with both hands, turned his body away and refused to look at his grandmother.

Lin Yunxi had never known that a child could be so strong. The delicate little arms squeezed her so hard that she almost couldn't breathe.

"It's okay, Mom. I can hold you."

Mother Gu looked at the intimate mother and son in front of her, and she seemed like the bad person who broke them up.

However, she is happy in her heart and hopes that her daughter-in-law can always stay like this and take good care of the children and their own family.

"Okay, grandma won't touch you." Mother Gu patted Gu Jiayan's little butt gently, and then asked Lin Yunxi.

"Have you cooked at home? If not, you can stay here and eat at noon today."

Before Lin Yunxi had time to refuse, a sarcastic voice came from the yard.

"Mom, please save some money. They eat delicious food every day, but they don't like our simple meals."

The person who spoke was Liu Qiaoqiao, the third daughter-in-law of the Gu family. She and the original owner had always been at odds with each other, and whenever they met they either quarreled or fought.

The original owner died because of her push, allowing Lin Yunxi to pass through.

It's been a busy farming season these past two days, so my family specially cut a pound of meat to provide some nourishment to the laborers.

A pound of meat sounds like a lot, but there are more than a dozen people in the family, and if everyone gets a piece, there will be nothing left.

Besides, her mother-in-law had cooked a bowl of rice porridge for Lin Yunxi this morning. That was fine grain, and her son couldn't even get a bite even though he was throwing a tantrum.

The more Liu Qiaoqiao thought about it, the more she felt that Lin Yunxi was here to eat for free. She raised her eyes and looked at Lin Yunxi harshly.

"You have already divided out the land, so don't even think about taking anything from the old house."

"What are you talking about? Even if we split up the family, she is still my daughter-in-law." Mother Gu glared at her daughter-in-law with dissatisfaction.

I don't know how many people she has offended with her mouth, but she still doesn't know how to control herself.

Gu Jiayan shuddered at the sudden sound. Lin Yunxi hugged her son and comforted him, "Don't be afraid."

She then looked at Liu Qiaoqiao and said, "Sister-in-law, you can rest assured. I can buy whatever I want with the money my husband sends home every month. I really don't care about the frivolous things you're thinking about."

"It's best if you... don't like it." Liu Qiaoqiao snorted and then said to her mother-in-law.

"Mom, you heard me, right? I don't want her, so don't rush in. You might end up getting rejected."

Gu's mother is in a situation where a scholar meets a soldier - she has a point but cannot explain herself clearly.

In the past few years, the family's conditions were poor, there were many children, and they were so poor that they could not even afford to eat. Her second son, Gu Zheng, was only sixteen years old at the time.

Seeing the situation at home, he dropped out of school without saying a word and enlisted in the army in order to save some food for his family.

He was away for nine years, and during that time he only reported good news and never complained to his family about his hard work.

At the beginning, he did not keep a penny of the monthly allowance and sent it all back home. Only then did the Gu family's life gradually improve.

Gu's father and mother used the money they saved to build these large tiled houses and also found a wife for the third son.

The eldest daughter-in-law is okay. She has the demeanor of an eldest daughter-in-law. She doesn't fight or argue with others on weekdays and keeps the house in order.

But the third son’s wife doesn’t know what’s good for her, and keeps complaining that the old couple are partial to the second son’s family.

Why doesn't she think that the house she lives in and the betrothal gift were all earned by the second brother through hard work over the years?

Liu Qiaoqiao is the kind of person who is only willing to believe what she wants to believe and doesn't care about the truth of the matter at all.

Mother Gu didn't want to argue with her anymore, so she shouted into the house, "Third brother, take your wife back."

Gu Tao heard the shouting and hurried out of the house, pulling Liu Qiaoqiao back to the room: "Can you please stop making trouble?"

He was tired after the whole morning and had just sat down to rest for two minutes. Naturally, he was in a bad mood because he was disturbed.

As expected, Liu Qiaoqiao exploded instantly and yelled, "Am I the one making a fuss? Why don't you say that your parents are biased to the point of being out of their minds?"

Lin Yunxi could hear everything clearly while standing outside the door. She did not comment on the conflict between the original owner and Liu Qiaoqiao, but she also did not want to deal with such a narrow-minded person.

Instead of thinking about how to live your own life, you just stare at others all day long.

"Mom, don't be angry. The meal is ready at home. Yanyan and I can just go back and eat."

"Also, after work in the evening, you and my dad can come to my house for dinner. You've been working hard these past few days, and there's a piece of meat at home. I'll give you a good snack."

Gu's father and mother can be regarded as the three good parents-in-law. They usually take good care of her. Now that she is able to do so, she should show more filial piety to them.

Hearing this, Gu's mother felt very relieved. She was just about to say that she would give the meat to Yanyan to eat. Why did the old couple have to eat so well?

Over there, Lin Yunxi had already left with the child in her arms.

As he walked, he said, "Come when you get off work, and I won't call you."

Mother Gu smiled and nodded. With the comparison with Liu Qiaoqiao, her impression of her second daughter-in-law improved a lot.

Lin Yunxi carried Yanyan back home. Because they had delayed some time, the temperature of the food was just right.

Lin Yunxi brought the food to the main room, held her son in her arms and sat him on her lap, then took the bowl and fed him bit by bit.

Gu Jiayan snuggled in her mother's arms, eating mouthfuls of rice and steamed eggs with great relish, even humming with joy.

"Is it delicious?" Lin Yunxi pinched his cheek and asked with a smile.

"Yeah." Gu Jiayan could roughly understand what his mother meant, and he nodded his head heavily.

Seeing such a cute appearance, Lin Yunxi's heart softened. She praised generously, "Oh, our baby is so cute."

Gu Jiayan smiled with joy, he really liked his current mother.

After feeding the child, Lin Yunxi started to eat.

I have to say that the food produced in the space is delicious. The rice is soft, sticky and fragrant, and the sweet and sour spare ribs are soft and boneless, fragrant and not greasy.

Scrambled eggs with tomatoes are sweet and sour, the cold cucumber salad is appetizing and goes well with rice, and the steamed egg with minced meat is fresh, fragrant and smooth.

Before he knew it, Lin Yunxi had finished all the food and burped.

She has lived alone since she left the orphanage at the age of 18, and her life skills have been maxed out.

Especially when it comes to cooking, even if Lin Yunxi is eating alone, she will prepare the food carefully.

With the space, her sense of smell and taste became more acute. Coupled with her strong talent and the guidance of famous teachers, her cooking skills are naturally not bad.

Lin Yunxi doesn't cook by following recipes. Instead, she can tailor her dishes to the characteristics of the ingredients and bring out the best in them.
