Chapter 42 How did you get him back?!

Her sister-in-law Wang Hongxiang rolled her eyes on the spot, and her voice was so sharp and sarcastic that it could peel off a person's skin.

"Oh! I was thinking! A married girl is like poured water out, why are you pouring it back into her?"

"You're upset at your husband's house, so you run to your parents'? Do you think your parents' home is a refuge?"

"You're still so irritable? Arguing with a man? I think you've been living too comfortably and you've lost your own weight!"

Wang Hongxiang put her hands on her hips, her saliva almost spraying on Li Hongjuan's face.

"You go to your mother's house every other day. Doesn't the food there still count as food? Our eldest and youngest still need to eat!"

From then on, Li Hongjuan's life at her mother's home became even more difficult.

Her brother and sister-in-law would often scold her and urge her to go back to her husband's home.

"Hongjuan, what couple doesn't quarrel? They quarrel at the head of the bed and make up at the foot of the bed. It's time to go home. It's not a good idea to stay at your parents' house all the time. It makes people laugh at you."

Li Hongjuan stayed at her mother's house for a few more days, feeling that each day was like a year.

Her brother Li Dajiang looked at her with an increasingly strange look in his eyes, and her sister-in-law Wang Hongxiang was even more indirect in her criticism, with every word coming back to her being a "freeloader".

Li Hongjuan really couldn't stand it anymore, so she found a free time that day and secretly ran to the grove at the entrance of the village and made an appointment with Zhong Chengfa.

As soon as they met, Li Hongjuan's eyes turned red.

"Chengfa, this life is unbearable!"

Her voice was tearful, suppressing her anger and grievance.

"I'm at my mother's house, working like crazy. My sister-in-law and I take turns doing the work, and she gives me the cold shoulder every day!"

"I can't eat every meal in peace, because I'm afraid they'll say I'm eating and drinking for free!"

"Tell me, what's going on here?"

Li Hongjuan wiped her tears and looked at Zhong Chengfa: "Just give me a definite answer. What should we do?"

Zhong Cheng rubbed his hands with a worried look on his face. He hadn't had an easy time these days.

He lowered his head, kicked the stones under his feet, and after a while he grunted, "I've thought about it..."

Li Hongjuan's eyes lit up and she quickly asked, "What did you think of?"

Zhong Chengfa then raised his head, a calculating glint in his eyes.

"I was thinking, why not...I should take Hongqing back first."

"Doesn't Mom love her grandson the most? When she saw Hongqing, her heart softened and maybe her anger subsided."

"When the time comes, you can go back, bow your head to your mother, admit your mistake, and this matter will be over, right?"

Li Hongjuan listened and felt that although this idea was not very brilliant, there seemed to be no other way at the moment.

She gritted her teeth and said, "Then... let's give it a try!"

After hearing these words, Zhong Chengfa felt as if he had been granted an imperial sword. That afternoon, he took Zhong Hongqing back to the Zhong family.

The result was that Zhong Chengfa did not expect Zhang Chunxue to be so cruel that she didn't even want her grandson.

We hurried as fast as we could, but by the time we arrived at Lijia Village, it was already completely dark. It was probably around nine o'clock in the evening.

Zhong Chengfa stepped forward and knocked on the door.

“Boom boom boom!”

"Who is it? It's so late!" The impatient voice of Li Hongjuan's elder brother Li Dajiang came from the room.

The door creaked open a crack, and Li Dajiang stuck his head out. Seeing that it was Zhong Chengfa holding a child, his face immediately darkened.

He simply opened the door and blocked it himself, not even bothering to let Zhong Chengfa in.

"Hey, brother-in-law, it's so late, what's going on?" Li Dajiang asked with a forced smile.

Zhong Chengfa felt uncomfortable being stared at by him and smiled dryly: "Brother, I... I will bring Hongqing over..."

"Bring Hongqing here?" Li Dajiang raised his eyebrows and his voice suddenly became a few degrees higher.

"What's going on? Your daughter lives at her mother's house all day, and now even your grandson wants to live at his grandmother's house?"

He looked Zhong Chengfa up and down, his eyes full of contempt.

"Our Li family is not a wealthy family. We can't afford to support so many idle people!"

"Brother-in-law, you've got a really good plan!"

"When you married Hongjuan, why didn't you think of marrying directly into our Li family?"

"Wouldn't that make it legitimate? We wouldn't have to go through the same situation now, where all the kids and wife are shoved into my father-in-law's house. Isn't that embarrassing?"

Li Dajiang's words were like a bunch of awls, piercing Zhong Chengfa's heart.

Zhong Chengfa's face flushed red, and his hands, which were holding Zhong Hongqing, were shaking with anger.

He has never been put in such a difficult situation before!

"You..." Zhong Cheng's lips trembled with anger and he couldn't utter a complete sentence for a long time.

"Let's go!" He stomped his feet suddenly, hugged Zhong Hongqing, turned around and left.

Li Dajiang snorted from behind and slammed the door shut.

Zhong Chengfa was filled with rage and hurried back with Zhong Hongqing in his arms, taking deep and shallow steps.

The night wind blew on their bodies, making them feel chilly, and the father and son's stomachs were rumbling with hunger.

By the time they returned to the Zhong family, it was already past midnight.

The yard was quiet and the lights in the main room had been turned off long ago.

Zhong Chengfa tiptoed into the yard carrying Zhong Hongqing, fearing that he would disturb Zhang Chunxue.

He first peeked into the kitchen.

Hey! There are actually leftovers in the pot!

Although it was already cold, it was already a delicacy for the hungry father and son.

Zhong Chengfa didn't care about anything else and quickly brought out the food. However, he didn't dare to eat in the main room, so he squatted under the eaves at the kitchen door. The father and son ate voraciously in the cold night wind.

After finishing the meal, Zhong Chengfa secretly washed the dishes, then carried Zhong Hongqing, who was so sleepy that he could not open his eyes, back to his room and fell asleep quietly.
