Chapter 164 Confiscated

Chapter 164 Confiscated

Yang ran excitedly towards the village, hoping to find someone to tell on her. Before she even reached the village entrance, she saw a large group of villagers hurrying towards the Liu family's house.

"I heard they brought back quite a lot this time!"

"Hurry up! They'll be gone if you're late!"

"It's not that bad, the Liu family aren't those kinds of people!"

...

Upon hearing this, Yang was overjoyed.

It seems the villagers aren't all fools; they must have seen outsiders enter the Liu family's home and were about to ransack it!

She quickly blended into the crowd and squeezed into the Liu family's courtyard.

The courtyard was packed with people; there wasn't even a place to put your feet down.

Before the leader could speak, Yang rushed to the front like a champion of justice and roared:

"Don't move! You members of the Liu family! Your secret has been exposed! The eyes of the people are discerning; don't try to cover it up!"

At this moment, the Liu family was taking out the money to distribute.

Yang immediately noticed the thick stack of banknotes in Zhang Xiuying's hand; the brand-new banknotes were so shiny in the sunlight that they made one's eyes dizzy.

In a fit of rage, she rushed forward like a madwoman, shouting, "These are all incriminating evidence! Confiscate them! Confiscate everything!"

As she spoke, she reached out to snatch the money from Zhang Xiuying's hand.

"Everyone, hurry up! Rob the money! Take them to the commune! This is irrefutable proof of their speculation!"

A quick-thinking villager rushed forward, grabbed the crazed Yang Shi, and shouted angrily, "Yang family! Are you crazy? Your family didn't do any work, so why are you trying to steal our wages?!"

Yang was pinned down and unable to move. In desperation, she shouted, "Why are you arresting me? Arrest them! They're engaging in speculation and profiteering!"

Seeing that Yang had been subdued, the Liu family members didn't bother with this crazy woman anymore.

Liu Zhixia smiled and said to the villagers, "Don't worry, everyone will get a share! Fourth Brother is checking the accounts and will distribute the money as soon as he confirms everything is correct!"

Upon hearing this, the villagers immediately lined up happily. Several strong men lifted Yang up and pushed her to the courtyard gate like she was being thrown away as trash.

Enraged, Yang's eyes turned red, and she roared hysterically, "Fine! So you're all in cahoots! This is a collective crime! I'm going to the commune to report you! I'll get you all in jail!"

A villager sneered, his face full of disdain: "Yang family, your son broke his leg, and your family lost all their money in compensation. Are you now envious and crazy because everyone else is making money? This is legitimate labor compensation; the commune knows it! If you want to sue, go ahead and sue. Don't embarrass yourself here!"

"He's absolutely insane!"

A hot-tempered villager pointed at Yang and yelled, "Get out of here! Don't delay our share of the money!"

"Exactly! Sue the commune? We've already registered our business, the commune strongly supports it, it's all aboveboard! It's not some shady business!"

"I think she's just jealous! She's too lazy to work herself, but she wants to cut off everyone's source of income. She's heartless and rotten!"

Yang was jolted awake by the scolding and stared blankly as Zhang Xiuying distributed brand-new banknotes to the villagers. The amount was so large that it made her green with envy.

"Working for their family...that's really lucrative?"

Yang's voice was hoarse, filled with shock, envy, and intense jealousy.

The villagers were all smiles when they received the money.

Standing in the center of the courtyard, Liu Shouren, beaming with health, loudly announced:

“My daughter set a good example last time by repairing the road, and I can’t fall behind this time! I’ve decided that a portion of the money we earn this time will be donated to the school to provide extra meals for the children! As long as we make money in the future, we will never forget to give back to the community! I hope everyone will support us!”

"good!"

The audience erupted in applause and cheers, praising the Liu family highly.

Liu Shouren's words struck Yang's heart like a heavy hammer.

She now truly realized that the Liu family had really struck it rich! The small donations they spun between their fingers were more than all of her entire fortune!

Liu Shouren scratched his head somewhat embarrassedly and asked Zhang Xiuying in a low voice, "Old woman, what do you think of my idea? Did I embarrass you?"

Zhang Xiuying gave him a reproachful look: "You old fool, you didn't even discuss it with the family! But my daughter and I were planning to do the same anyway. Since you said so, we'll do as you say. This time, you get to show your face!"

Liu Shouren was overjoyed and shouted at the top of his lungs, "Great! If you want to get rich, build roads first; if you want to be strong, build schools! Let the children eat and drink well so that they can have a bright future and serve the country!"

Seeing the Liu family so happy and harmonious, Aunt Yang felt a pang of sadness in her heart.

She couldn't bear to look at the horrifying scene any longer and slunk home.

Upon entering the courtyard, a deathly atmosphere immediately enveloped us.

Before she could even stand properly, an enamel mug flew over with a whoosh and hit her on the forehead with a thud, instantly raising a large bump.

"Ouch!"

Aunt Yang winced in pain, and upon closer inspection, she saw that Little Yang was lying on the bed, glaring at her with a face full of resentment.

"Where the hell have you been? Didn't you promise to serve me? You've vanished in the blink of an eye!"

Ignoring the pain, Aunt Yang quickly picked up the jar, forcing a smile, "Son, I'm just going to the brigade to see if I can find some work. The doctor said your leg rehabilitation will cost money, and I'll sell everything I own to earn it for you!"

Xiao Yang sneered, his eyes filled with malice: "Back then, I had earned enough wages, but you forced me to steal dendrobium when no one was looking! When I refused, you knelt on the ground and wailed, calling me unfilial! Now look what's happened, my legs are crippled, and I've become the laughingstock of the whole village! It's all your fault!"

As he spoke, he grabbed the pillow and shoes from the head of the bed and started throwing them at Aunt Yang like a madman.

Aunt Yang was so frightened that she quickly retreated and closed the door.

Just as she caught her breath, Grandma Yang returned from outside, leaning on her cane. Upon seeing her, her eyes blazed with anger, and she rushed over and grabbed her ear.

"Now the whole village is going to the Liu family to get a share of the money! Everyone who worked with them has become rich! I wanted to go before, but you wouldn't let me! Do you know how much money they got?!"

Aunt Yang winced in pain, forcing a smile awkwardly: "Mom, they'll have to do it again, so why don't you go? Or, could you ask around for me? I can do it too!"

Grandma Yang laughed in anger, grabbed her cane and started hitting her.

"The Liu family has declared that no one from the Yang family is allowed to get involved in this business! They're afraid you, with your black heart and rotten lungs, will poison the pickles! The whole village is getting rich, and we're just watching helplessly! Now my precious grandson has been crippled because of you! You're going to ruin the Yang family, you jinx!"

Aunt Yang's heart sank. She grabbed her cane and yelled back, her eyes red, "You agreed to it back then! You even said you were afraid the villagers would steal your business! Now that something's happened, you're blaming me for it all?"

"You dare talk back to me! I'll beat you to death, you jinx!"

Grandma Yang was so angry she was about to hit him again when Little Yang's hysterical roar came from inside the house: "Shut up, all of you! It's so noisy! Can't a person live like this?!"

The mother-in-law and daughter-in-law fell silent instantly, and the house was plunged into a deathly stillness.
