Chapter 165: Winning the Best Director and Best Actress Award at Berlin Film Festival

The closing ceremony gradually began with the arrival of guests and audiences.

The lighting in the venue was soft and warm, and the closing ceremony officially began with the host's enthusiastic speech.

The first thing to be held is the award ceremony, which is where awards are given to other units. The award ceremony for the main competition unit is arranged at the end as a tribute to the highest honor of the entire competition.

As the award ceremony progressed, it was soon the turn of the main competition. The atmosphere in the venue became increasingly tense and heated, as everyone was looking forward to the announcement of the most important award.

This year, the first award in the Berlin main competition unit is the Berlin Morning Post Readers' Jury Prize, the second is the Special Honor Award, the third is the New Film Forum Award, and the fourth is the Jury Special Award.

These four prizes are small prizes, commonly known as consolation prizes.

As the consolation prizes were awarded one after another, the movie "Love" did not win any award, which also meant that it could compete for a bigger award, which immediately made Hu Feng, Luo Lan, Jiang Zhiqiang, Zou Wenhuai and others look forward to it.

What follows are the truly breathtaking awards – the Golden Bear and Silver Bear.

The Golden Bear goes to Best Film, while the Silver Bears are for Best Director, Best Actor and Best Actress.

"Now we are presenting the Best Actress Award. Who is the winner?" The host deliberately lengthened his tone to create a dramatic atmosphere.

The whole audience fell into a brief silence. Every audience member held their breath, their eyes fixed on the host in the center of the stage.

Luo Lan nervously held Hu Feng's hand and held her breath, because she also had a chance to win the Best Actress Award.

"The winner of the Best Actress Award at this year's Berlin Film Festival is Luo Lan from the movie 'Love'." As soon as the words fell, thunderous applause and cheers broke out in the venue.

"Teacher Luo, congratulations on winning the award. Go up and receive it." Zhang Qiurui pushed Luo Lan, who was sitting in a daze.

Luo Lan seemed to be penetrated by an electric current of happiness at this moment. She stood still. She walked onto the stage in a daze. The red carpet under her feet was as soft as clouds. Every step she took seemed like she was walking in a dream.

When she stood on the podium, the trophy in her hand felt heavy. It was not only the weight of the metal, but also the recognition and reward for her years of hard work in her acting career.

Looking back at the films she had filmed over the years, most of them were supporting roles. Winning the Berlin Best Actress Award this time made Luo Lan's eyes moist. She took a deep breath, tried to calm her excitement, and turned to the audience and guests in the audience.

"First of all, I would like to thank the Berlin Film Festival and the jury for giving me this supreme honor.

To me, this award is more than just a trophy; it is the best response to all my efforts and persistence.

"I want to thank Director Zhang. It's your trust and guidance that allowed me to fully express myself in the film 'Love,' and to unearth untouched emotional corners deep within me. Thank you!" Luo Lan's voice trembled slightly as she looked at Zhang Qiurui in the audience, her eyes filled with gratitude and admiration.

Zhang Qiurui smiled and nodded gently at Luo Lan.

"Next is the Best Actor Award, and the winner is André Severin from 'The Ticket Seller.'" The Best Actor Award was presented next. Hu Feng was disappointed when he heard that the winner was not him.

Hu Feng had been in Berlin for some time and had heard some inside stories and gossip about the Berlin Film Festival. It was difficult for a film shortlisted for the main competition to win more than two awards, let alone a single film. There were very few films that won both the actor and actress awards.

"Next we will present the Best Director award. This director is not very old, but not young either. He is already an adult." The host had a very bad taste and whetted everyone's appetite.

Especially the directors who were selected for the main competition unit to attend the closing ceremony. When they heard that the director was not very old, they thought she was the director of the movie "Love" because she was the youngest among the directors selected for the main competition unit.

Later they heard "but not young either, he is already an adult", which made them feel anxious again, and they all speculated who this director of "appropriate age" was.

Several searchlights swept over the directors in the audience, their faces filled with tension and anticipation.

Even Li Shaohong, Hu Feng and Luo Lan thought that the winner was really Zhang Qiurui after hearing what the host said before.

The host looked at the audience's reaction and a playful smile appeared on his lips.

He paused for a moment, as if enjoying the feeling of being in control.

Then, he suddenly raised his voice and said, "He is Director Zhang Qiurui who directed "Love"!"

As the host finished speaking, thunderous applause broke out from the audience, surging like a tide, almost drowning the entire venue.

"Qiurui, you won the Berlin Best Director Award." Li Shaohong, who was sitting next to Zhang Qiurui, was even more excited than Zhang Qiurui when she heard that Zhang Qiurui had won the award. She even hugged Zhang Qiurui and cried with joy.

"Congratulations to Director Zhang for winning the Best Director Award." Hu Feng and Luo Lan hurriedly congratulated him.

Zhang Qiurui slowly stood up, gave Hu Feng and Luo Lan a gentle hug, and a smile spread across his face.

She straightened her blazer and walked towards the center of the stage. The moment she stepped onto the stage, all the lights seemed to focus on her, making her look particularly dazzling.

The host smiled and handed the heavy Best Director trophy to Zhang Qiurui. Zhang Qiurui took the trophy with his hands trembling slightly.

Zhang Qiurui took a deep breath and said to the audience and the camera in a trembling but firm voice, "The last time I won the Best Director award was at the 32nd Cannes Film Festival. I didn't expect to win the Berlin Best Director award so soon.
