Chapter 14 Chapter 14 Chapter Fourteen...
Chapter Fourteen
Why did Hua Fangling treat Yao Anhui differently? There was a reason, of course.
Because Hua Fangling is a transmigrator, or more precisely, this is a world she created within a book. In other words, Hua Fangling is an author whose novel gave rise to a world, and Hua Fangling herself transmigrated into this world.
There weren't that many stories of time travel, rebirth, ancient to modern times, two men fighting over one woman, or two women fighting over one man. Hua Fangling transmigrated into the body of the female protagonist she wrote. Because the male protagonist was created according to her own ideal type, their relationship developed even more smoothly than in the novel.
The reason Hua Fangling treats Yao Anhui differently is mainly because Yao Anhui is a tragic character in her novel. In order to advance the plot, the original owner of the body was killed off. After Hua Fangling transmigrated and learned that this was a real world, she felt very guilty and wanted to change Yao Anhui's ending.
This is why Hua Fangling took the initiative to talk to Yao Anhui; it was all a prelude to her later actions. Of course, it's also true that Hua Fangling is attracted to good looks and that she finds Yao Anhui pleasing to the eye.
However, what Hua Fangling didn't know was that the plot took an unexpected turn; the original owner of the body had died long ago. She thought that what she did had successfully changed the plot, allowing Yao Anhui to arrive at the military region much earlier.
Yao Anhui was unaware that her death was imminent, and was currently at a scrap metal recycling station with Hua Fangling, searching for treasures.
Yao Anhui thought the recycling station would be a mess, but when she arrived, she found that everything was neatly categorized and stacked, completely different from what she had imagined, where everything would be piled up haphazardly.
"Xiao Hui, is there anything you want to buy?" Hua Fangling asked as she led Yao Anhui inside with practiced ease.
"Huh? I don't need to buy anything, I don't lack anything." Yao Anhui was stunned for a moment. What could she possibly need?
"How could we not need it? Aren't you and Battalion Commander Lu getting married? The house in the family compound is empty, there's nothing there. You'll need cabinets, cupboards, benches, and all sorts of things, including pots and pans."
Hua Fangling pretended not to know about Yao Anhui and Lu Yuanqing's situation and said this on purpose: "This is based on my experience. When I first came, I didn't bring anything with me. Later, I was missing everything I needed, which was very inconvenient."
Yao Anhui glanced back at Lu Yuanqing and found that the man's simple, honest smile was almost unbearable to look at; it was so naive and completely out of place with his military uniform.
“It’s okay, we can buy a new one.” Lu Yuanqing quickly said. This was his true thought. Marriage was a once-in-a-lifetime event, and he wanted to give Yao Anhui the best of everything.
Hehe, when it came to marriage, Yao Anhui didn't refute it, and Lu Yuanqing laughed even more heartily.
"You're talking big, it seems you've saved up a lot of industrial vouchers. Enough to buy an iron pot, a kettle, a sewing machine, and a whole set of furniture?" Hua Fangling couldn't help but roll her eyes.
"Xiao Hui, let's go up ahead and take a look. Don't pay attention to men who only know how to talk." Hua Fangling said as they walked, sharing her experience with Yao Anhui: "Just listen to what men say. If you really listen to everything they say, you won't be able to live a good life."
Yao Anhui agreed with this, but Hua Fangling was so talkative that she didn't need Yao Anhui to agree with her and started chattering away again: "We're here. Look, all this wood is good quality. A lot of it is broken furniture. If we can find it all and repair it, the quality won't be any worse than brand new furniture."
In front of Hua Fangling and Yao Anhui were all broken pieces of wood; no one was sending those old, rotten pieces of wood here.
"Let me tell you, these were just delivered here this morning. Let's quickly see if there's anything we can use, otherwise people will come and snatch them up later."
Yao Anhui didn't care much at first, after all, she had seen many good things in her previous life, and the imperial products in the palace were naturally extremely precious.
However, Yao Anhui actually saw a very familiar item here. It was a seemingly ordinary wooden box, six inches long and four inches wide, with a very simple ruyi pattern on it, the most basic kind at that.
The only unusual thing about this box is that it was a gift from her adopted son. The auspicious pattern on it was carved by his own hand, and there is also a red five-pointed star on it.
The box looked so familiar that Yao Anhui hurried over, not caring that the dust on it would dirty her clothes.
Yao Anhui brushed away the dust and saw four smaller stars and a small "Qi" character on one side of the red five-pointed star.
Upon opening it, the pattern inside the box was the same—it was the leaf of the hornwort. Yao Anhui remembered it so clearly because her adopted son really liked the leaves of the hornwort, saying it was a kind of lucky clover.
Yao Anhui was shocked. This box was exactly the same as the one her adopted son had given her in her previous life. Why was it here? Could it be that her sudden appearance here was related to her adopted son?
"Oh, this box is quite nice. We can use it after washing it at home," Hua Fangling said after taking a look.
"Yes, I also think it's quite beautiful and has a childlike charm." Yao Anhui has decided to take the box back with her.
Hua Fangling was enthusiastically turning over pieces of wood, while Yao Anhui seemed uninterested. However, it's unclear whether Lu Yuanqing took Hua Fangling's advice to heart, but he also started turning over pieces of wood.
The two rummaged through the cabinet and discussed it. They said it was quite nice, and although it was broken, it could be repaired. They also said the plank was good and could be used to make a stool with the sticks.
Yao Anhui ignored them and went to the old books and newspapers section, searching through them. Good heavens, there were real treasures there.
Although Yao Anhui did not grow up in this world and does not know much about its history, and she is not even a master calligrapher, she still has a good eye. Several of her paintings and calligraphy works have their own unique style, and even if they are not antiques, they are still excellent works.
I also found a few cups and saucers that looked ugly and whose material I couldn't tell.
Yao Anhui also found some history books. She looked at them and put aside those that she found useful. In the end, it cost her more than two yuan.
After buying the items, Yao Anhui didn't buy any more books. She decided to wait until she finished reading these old books before buying more. Her mind was completely focused on the little box, and she couldn't think about anything else.
