Chapter 3 Chapter 3...

Chapter Three

Last time, we talked about how Yao Anhui's jinx had become stronger. At first, Yao Anhui didn't know this. Her daily curses on Wu Xingye, as mentioned before, were initially an attempt to achieve a qualitative change through quantitative accumulation. She thought her jinx was just like before, only bringing minor bad luck. It wasn't until now that Yao Anhui belatedly realized that Wu Xingye, who had given the original owner only two days to think, didn't appear after the two days were up, and didn't appear for the next three days either. Only then did Yao Anhui wonder if Wu Xingye had been unlucky. Had her jinx become stronger? Or had she become luckier after coming to this world?

These past few days, Yao Anhui has been busy getting familiar with this world hundreds or even thousands of years in the future, busy absorbing new things, and easily forgot about Wu Xingye. Now that she remembered him, given Yao Anhui's personality and habits, she won't feel safe unless she suppresses people and things that threaten her.

After exactly five days, Yao Anhui had figured out everything she didn't understand, and she had also sorted out the more important things in the original owner's memories. So Yao Anhui decided to go to the town herself to find out the truth.

The result was quite funny.

On the eighth day of the third lunar month in 1970, which happened to be market day in town, Yao Anhui planned to take advantage of the market day to secretly inquire whether Wu Xingye had really succeeded in cursing her.

Then something funny happened. Yao Anhui, who had gotten up very early, was startled when she opened the door to find several small white poplars standing in the yard.

"Who are you?" Yao Anhui asked, slightly panicked. This reminded her of the widows in her village before she entered the palace in her previous life. They were all very generous and proper in their behavior, living their lives honestly and openly. However, some disgusting, shameless, and despicable men tried to take advantage of them, and they were driven to their deaths because of some bad rumors.

In an instant, Yao Anhui thought of many things she didn't like, especially since there was more than one person at her doorstep. Three grown men standing at the door of a young woman's house—no matter what Yao Anhui thought, she couldn't help but have impure thoughts.

"Are you Comrade Yao? We are the people sent by Commander Guan to pick you up."

The three men were of different ages, heights, and appearances. The oldest of them looked to be in his thirties and had the most composed demeanor. He had a very dignified and imposing appearance that gave people a sense of security. This man introduced himself as Wu Cheng'an.

The tallest of the three was the youngest, named Jiao Jingming. He was extremely handsome with sword-like eyebrows and bright eyes. His smile was sunny and cheerful, and his brows were full of spirited vigor. He didn't seem to have experienced the hardships of life. It seemed that he came from a good family and had a smooth career, which explained his spirited demeanor.

The oldest one, Lu Yuanqing, should be in the middle of the age range. He is not as good-looking as the younger Jiao Jingming, nor as composed as Wu Chengan, and he is also very taciturn. Compared to Wu Chengan and Jiao Jingming, he is practically invisible.

Yao Anhui learned that Wu Chengan and the other two had just participated in the All-Army Martial Arts Competition. On their way back, they received a telegram from Guan Kangde asking them to pick Yao Anhui up and take her to the military region. After reading the telegram from Guan Kangde, Yao Anhui packed her things and prepared to leave. As for the matter of inquiring about Wu Xingye's situation, she naturally put it aside.

This matter is not as important as going to the military region. In any case, whether Wu Xingye is in trouble or not at this time will not affect Yao Anhui's continued to curse him with her jinx. Of course, before that, she still has to call Guan Kangde. Yao Anhui is not that stupid to just leave like that.

Yao Anhui first took the three men to the commune to get a letter of introduction, and then made a phone call. Guan Kangde was probably waiting by the phone, and the call was answered quickly. Guan Kangde said that Wu Chengan and the other two were trustworthy people, and that he felt at ease letting them pick up the people. He also told Yao Anhui not to worry or be afraid.

After making the phone call, Yao Anhui went home to pack her luggage. Since she had already planned to leave, Yao Anhui had packed her luggage in advance. She took what she could take with her, and packed up all the large pieces of furniture that she could leave behind. She packed up everything else, especially since Lu Yuanqing said that he could carry it. Yao Anhui even cooked the original owner's kimchi and packed it in a lunchbox.

Well, these three were incredibly good at carrying luggage; in the end, Yao Anhui didn't have a single scrap of cloth left.

At the train station in Jiangtang Town, Yao Anhui curiously looked at the green train. Her father, Yao Ruifeng, used to be a soldier, and the original owner of this body also grew up in the army. Later, her father Yao Ruifeng returned to Jiangtang Town after being discharged from the army due to injury. The original owner of this body had naturally ridden the train before, and more than once.

Yao Anhui tried hard not to show too much surprise. After all, the original owner had taken the train many times before. Being too ignorant would obviously make people suspicious of her, especially in this era with many spies, in front of three outstanding soldiers.

Even with the original owner's memories and even though she had mentally prepared herself, the sight of the train rattling into the station and everyone scrambling to board it still surprised Yao Anhui, who let out a small gasp. Knowing something was different from actually seeing it for yourself.

"What's wrong?" Lu Yuanqing noticed her odd behavior and asked considerately. Fortunately, not everyone could make the connection to rebirth/time travel, so even though Yao Anhui exclaimed in surprise, Lu Yuanqing simply assumed she had seen something amazing.

"Nothing much, I just saw something strange. It seems like a thief tried to steal someone else's purse but failed and ended up having his own purse stolen instead." Yao Anhui said this casually, but it wasn't entirely unfounded. Thieves have existed since ancient times, and it's normal to have one or two thieves in a crowded train station. Besides, this was something she used to do often: curse thieves to fail at stealing things and then get stolen from instead.

However, Yao Anhui was unaware that her power had greatly increased. In the past, her daily curses had not always been successful, but today, she just said it casually. Lu Yuanqing followed her gaze and stared intently, then left with only one sentence: "Keep an eye on Comrade Yao." Then she shot out like an arrow.

Yao Anhui was dumbfounded. Was this the strength of the top soldier in the entire army's martial arts competition? It really launched out.

Lu Yuanqing's behavior was completely unexpected by Yao Anhui, but when combined with the image of soldiers in the original owner's memories, it didn't seem strange. People in this era seemed to be very... enthusiastic.
