Yang Qingheng held the recording pen but did not stop her.
"You all stop right there..." Mu Xiaoxiao was furious; she knew things wouldn't end like this.
Yang Qingheng grabbed her sleeve: "Xiaoxiao, didn't you say you wanted to come with me to meet the senior students at the design institute?"
He forcefully pulled her away.
Mu Xiaoxiao frowned, stomped her foot angrily, and pointed at the backs of those people: "Are we just going to let them go like this?"
"Am I that kind of person?" Yang Qingheng raised an eyebrow. Seeing that Mu Xiaoxiao still didn't understand, she explained, "What can they do with us? In front of everyone, can I beat them up to vent my anger? All I can do is make them apologize, but do you believe that these kinds of people are truly repentant when they apologize? What's the point of an apology that can be done so easily and without any cost?" She wanted them to pay a price, and it would be far more than that.
Mu Xiaoxiao pursed her lips and never brought it up again.
She felt a little uneasy. She was about the same age as her sister-in-law, but she was far less adept at handling things. If she were in such a situation, she would rush up and beat the person out of high spirits, and even if she was in the right, she would end up being in the wrong because of it.
Seeing her downcast mood, Yang Qingheng helplessly rubbed her fluffy head, a hint of doting in her eyes: "What happened today is not your fault. Why are you thinking so much? Didn't you say you were going to meet the seniors? With your gloomy face, people will think you have a problem with them, and they'll think you're here for revenge."
"You're just teasing me." Mu Xiaoxiao's attention was instantly diverted by her teasing.
Yang Qingheng took her hand and walked straight to the back balcony. Everyone was dancing and making a lot of noise inside, and the sounds could be faintly heard through the crack in the door, making the place seem unusually quiet.
Mu Xiaoxiao scratched her head: "What are we doing here?"
Yang Qingheng didn't answer. Instead, she walked around a few nearby green plants and went into an inconspicuous little balcony, teasingly saying, "So you really were here."
Zhong Yan was startled, turned around, and held onto his glasses. It took him a few seconds for his eyes to focus behind the lenses. He suddenly stood up, knocking over the chair and making a sharp scraping sound.
Yang Qingheng's teeth itched, so she rubbed her ear hard with the back of her hand.
Zhong Yan was so embarrassed that she didn't know where to put her hands and feet, and her face turned red as she pinched the seam of her pants.
Mu Xiaoxiao burst out laughing, secretly amused by the naive young man's behavior, and suddenly felt less nervous.
Zhong Yan's gaze didn't look at her; it flickered a few times before returning to Yang Qingheng.
"Yang Qingheng, what brings you here?"
"We're classmates, can't I come over and chat with you from time to time?" Yang Qingheng raised an eyebrow, teasing him on purpose.
Sure enough, Zhong Yan's remaining words got stuck in her throat. She scratched her head and couldn't speak for a long time. In her heart, she thought to herself, "She's not the kind of person who would come looking for me for no reason."
"I have a pretty important new product launch coming up soon, and the designs will be showcased at the Yinghua Exchange Conference. Would you be interested in becoming my designer?" Yang Qingheng got straight to the point.
Zhong Yan was startled and pointed at his own nose: "Me?"
He quickly waved his hand: "No, no, Qingheng, don't joke around. This is a big deal, how could I do it?"
This business exchange meeting was their first one held in Beijing, which shows how much importance the higher authorities attached to it. All the attendees were well-known domestic manufacturers. If it weren't for the local government's desire to support local industries, Yang Qingheng's company wouldn't have been given a booth. This shows how important this opportunity was to Yang Qingheng.
I heard that she specially invited a well-known designer who had returned from studying abroad. This student, who has no reputation whatsoever, is no match for her.
Yang Qingheng straightened her face and stood up: "I'm not joking, and I'm not afraid to tell you the truth. The designer I had arranged to work with was snatched away by someone else. If you don't help me now, I don't know who else to turn to."
Although the company's designers weren't top-tier, they had a bit of a reputation in the design world. But Yang Qingheng knew their skill level as someone she had hired. They were usually adequate, but not this time; they lacked inspiration.
Instead of pinning our hopes on them, let's take a gamble and find Zhong Yan.
Although I lack experience, my designs are sure to be eye-catching.
"Who stole it?" Zhong Yan pursed her lips, a hint of anger in her voice.
"Just tell me if you'll help or not," Yang Qingheng asked.
"Thank you for thinking so highly of me, Qingheng. I will do my best." Zhong Yan said without hesitation. His determined eyes made it seem as if he would not object to anyone asking him to go through fire and water.
Just as she emerged from the greenery, her sleeve was suddenly tugged. Yang Qingheng turned around and reassured her, "Don't worry, don't worry, I'll take you to the second hall right away. They're all there, and I guarantee you'll be able to pick one you like to help you with the wiring."
Mu Xiaoxiao's face turned bright red, her eyes darting around as she glanced at the balcony several times in the next few dozen seconds. Finally, she gritted her teeth and, in a desperate move, asked, "Ahem, sister-in-law, does that senior from earlier have a girlfriend?"
“You don’t dislike this one?” Yang Qingheng said in surprise, raising her chin towards the direction outside the window.
Zhong Yan came from the mountains, and his clothes were so old-fashioned that they looked like they had just been dug out of a grave, completely unlike what Mu Xiaoxiao liked.
Moreover, the disparity between these families is too great. Although the Tang family doesn't care about the other family, they still can't be that poor.
Anyone who didn't know better would think that she, as the sister-in-law, looked down on her sister-in-law and deliberately introduced her like that.
"Who...who said that!" Mu Xiaoxiao was both embarrassed and angry, and she tried to coax and plead with her.
Yang Qingheng's temple throbbed, and she made an excuse: "If you're talking about someone else, I can help you make a connection, but not this one. You saw it yourself just now. With his personality, a few extra words could kill him. What if I introduce him to someone and he gets annoyed with me? My new product is counting on him."
