Chapter 197 Song Hengjue is called a lonely old man

Yang Qingheng gasped, then turned around with a forced smile: "I made plans with a friend to watch fireworks today."

"With such strong winds, what's the point of watching fireworks? Can I bring my family?" Tang Bainian looked at her shifty eyes, a dark glint flashing in his gaze.

Taking her husband to meet her lover is like putting her in a terrible situation.

"Forget it, there are several women here. If you go, they'll feel uncomfortable." Yang Qingheng felt a chill run down her spine and firmly refused.

Tang Bainian's eyes were intense: "Then you shouldn't go. It's windy today, too dangerous. And if Mom asks about you later, I won't know how to tell her I'm not going, okay?"

He usually didn't care what Yang Qingheng did, nor did he have the right to interfere, but for some reason, he felt uneasy now.

He felt like something was secretly slipping away from his hands, and the unease of not being able to grasp it made him feel flustered and powerless. He had a breath stuck in his throat, and his heart started to feel heavy.

Yang Qingheng's knuckles turned white as she gripped the doorknob, but she finally let go and gave a reassuring smile: "It's okay, I won't go then. I'll call them later to explain."

Tang Bainian's eyes lit up, filled with genuine joy. He grabbed her forearm and said, "I saw you said you were feeling greasy after eating too much, so I cut some pineapple. Do you want some to cleanse your palate?"

"Forget it, I can't eat anymore." Yang Qingheng waved her hand, took her phone and went upstairs, closed the door and made a call to Song Hengjue.

"Are you out yet?" Song Hengjue asked excitedly. Yang Qingheng could hear his joy and anticipation even through the phone.

Taking a deep breath, she couldn't bear to dampen his spirits, and mumbled, "I don't know yet, let me see. You should find a place where the wind isn't so strong to take it with you, so you don't get too cold."

"Oh, then be careful." Song Hengjue's ears were red from the cold, but he almost closed his eyes with a smile because of Yang Qingheng's words of concern.

Yang Qingheng sighed and sat on the edge of the bed for a long time. Finally, she saw that the lights downstairs were off. She furtively closed the door and glanced out onto the balcony.

Fortunately, Tang Bainian had a cold and slept separately from her. She came to the guest room on the second floor, otherwise she wouldn't have been able to run away so smoothly.

Yang Qingheng rubbed her hands together, then clumsily climbed down the drainpipe.

Little did she know that her actions had already been seen by the man upstairs.

Tang Bainian didn't expect that he would see Yang Qingheng climbing down the water pipe while he was just closing the window. His heart was in his throat, and he dared not make a sound, for fear of scaring her and causing her to fall.

Fortunately, the woman was safely delivered to the ground.

He dashed out of the courtyard gate in a flash.

Tang Bainian was furious and kicked over the trash can next to him.

She even lied to him about being friends. If they were really just friends, she wouldn't have climbed over the wall to go out so late. Either it's that vixen Song Hengjue, or some other vixen has entangled her!

What exactly is that informant doing at Yang Qingheng's company? How come they don't know about something this big?!

Tang Bainian was so angry that his temples throbbed, but it was too late to win Yang Qingheng back now.

He could only sulk in silence.

Why did I have to get sick now of all times?

It's a shame my body is so useless; I missed out on such a good time.

Song Hengjue glanced at the time; it was already 11 p.m., and there was only one hour left until midnight. He called Yang Qingheng several times, but no one answered.

With so many phone calls, even a blind person would have seen it. This woman clearly doesn't want to come out; she's doing it on purpose!

Seeing couples everywhere around him, or at least friends and family with them, Song Hengjue, all alone, looked exceptionally pitiful.

Some people even looked at him with pity.

Song Hengjue's face turned ashen, and he glanced back at her, saying, "What are you looking at?"

The group felt awkward. One of the men, seeing his girlfriend being yelled at, wanted to show off and said arrogantly, "What's wrong with saying a few words to you? I didn't say anything wrong. You're just single and don't have a woman to keep you company. Is it wrong to say you're pitiful?"

"Exactly, who goes out alone in the cold wind on New Year's Day? It's hilarious. He must have been dumped by a woman." The woman became even more arrogant after seeing her boyfriend back her up.

Song Hengjue felt like he'd been shot in the heart: "You two are such a jerk, yet you let it go like this. You're a perfect match."

"And another thing!" he exclaimed angrily, "Who said my girlfriend dumped me!"

The girl burst out laughing and said to her boyfriend, "Honey, let's not argue with a lonely old man like him. We're going to get all worked up."

“Darling, you’re right,” the man scoffed, looking around with a smirk, “Where is she? Where is she? I don’t see your girlfriend, my girlfriend…”

He became annoyed when he noticed his girlfriend's gaze lingering on Song Hengjue's face for too long, and his words became even sharper.

"Here? What's up? You need something from me?" Yang Qingheng was surprised to see Song Hengjue being bullied as soon as she arrived. His face was grim, so she stepped forward and took his arm, raising an eyebrow at the couple opposite them.

"N-nothing...it's nothing." The man was a little embarrassed because he didn't expect that there was actually a girlfriend nearby, especially when he looked at Yang Qingheng's beautiful face. He felt his face burning up.

Seeing her boyfriend so pathetic, staring blankly at Yang Qingheng, the woman jumped up in anger and grabbed his ear hard: "What are you looking at? If you look again, I'll gouge your eyes out."

The man cried out in pain.

Yang Qingheng frowned when she saw the two about to leave: "Stop! You think you can just walk away without apologizing after insulting someone?"

She stood coldly in front of the two of them.

"He insulted us too, why..." the woman said unhappily.

"Come quick! This guy is peeing in the street! I caught him, but he won't admit it. His girlfriend is covering for him. It's disgusting..." Yang Qingheng grabbed her collar and shouted. More and more people gathered around to watch the spectacle and point.

The two men's expressions changed, and they hurriedly explained, "No, she's talking nonsense. We're civilized people, how could we do such a thing..."

Yang Qingheng retorted, "Are you implying that I lied? If you two weren't relieving yourselves in public, would I have been so bored that I stopped you two strangers?"

With that shout, the lie became the truth, causing the two to panic and try to explain everywhere. However, everyone only believed what they wanted to believe and wouldn't listen to a word.

Someone even volunteered to take them both to the police station, which infuriated the woman, who apologized through gritted teeth: "I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I shouldn't have talked about your man like that, is this alright!"

Yang Qingheng then let out a cold snort and released her grip.

The two blushed with embarrassment and fled in panic.
