Chapter 40 I Don't Have a Beggar Son Like You

Sister-in-law Sun nodded.

Yang Qingheng explained some more details to her before going back.

There are four hundred!

Song Xingnong, who was listening from the side, was dumbfounded: "This kid Song Hengjue didn't just marry a wife, he clearly invited a god of wealth home to worship."

"No matter how good he is, he doesn't know how to cherish it," Sister-in-law Sun spat. "He doesn't know what's good for him!"

Married men are often away from home, leaving their wives at the doorstep in the middle of the night. Even a dog knows to come home and check on its owner from time to time, but he doesn't care at all.

Song Xingnong wanted to advise her not to interfere in the young couple's relationship, but when he thought about Yang Qingheng's recent status in his wife's heart, he awkwardly shut his mouth.

If he were to utter a single word of rebuttal now, this woman could knock his head off.

"Alright, stop cursing. The more you talk, the angrier you get. Let's eat first." He pulled Sister-in-law Sun's arm and pressed her into a chair.

Yang Qingheng remembered the blisters she had gotten from carrying water earlier that day, so she went straight into the woods before it got dark.

I'll pick some purslane and apply it to my face, otherwise I'll be in so much pain I won't be able to walk tomorrow.

The area around the forest had long been planted with cassava and other crops by villagers, and there were too many signs of human activity, so wild animals generally wouldn't come out here to forage.

Yang Qingheng searched carefully for a couple of minutes and was about to go out when she suddenly heard two familiar voices outside.

"Gu Yi, when will you marry me?"

Gu Yi hesitated for a few seconds: "Why are you suddenly bringing this up, Xiuxiu? I'm not capable of giving you a good life right now. Can we postpone the marriage for a while? I don't want you to suffer with me."

Yang Qingheng crouched in the grass, a cold smile curling at the corner of her mouth.

How come she never noticed in her past life that these two were actually having an affair?

Gu Yi really kept it a secret. He's juggling three relationships; isn't he afraid of drowning?

Yang Qingheng only regretted not having a voice recorder or camera, otherwise she would definitely film these two people and let Gu Yi's fiancée see what kind of person he really was!

Hearing the strange, stammering sounds coming from the pair of lovers outside, Yang Qingheng's face turned ashen, as if she had eaten shit.

She was itchy from the mosquito bites at night, but she dared not make any sudden movements.

There are two people outside now. If she rushes out now, she'll just be handing them over to them to be humiliated.

Fortunately, Gu Yi is only good-looking; he's useless.

Less than an hour later, the two of them walked outside, all lovey-dovey.

Yang Qingheng squatted for several more minutes before finally losing her temper and running out of the bushes.

He rushed out of the woods and his eyes met those of Song Hengjue outside.

His all-knowing gaze made her feel inexplicably guilty. Yang Qingheng coughed lightly, avoiding his gaze: "Why are you back today? Shall we go back for dinner together?"

He probably didn't see it, right?

"I'll eat at Erniu's house," Song Hengjue coldly refused.

Yang Qingheng complained, "You go to other people's houses for meals every day, but you don't even go back to your own house when it's just a few steps away. Don't you feel ashamed?"

Does he know that everyone is gossiping now, saying she's a shrew, and that he, a grown man, is too scared to go home because of her?

Song Hengjue glanced at her indifferently, his tone mocking: "Of course I can't compare to you. I was just having dinner at someone else's house. You're different; you love listening to other people's illicit affairs..."

He saw it!

Yang Qingheng's face was burning hot, and she glared at him fiercely: "I didn't mean to overhear, why did you bring this up?"

"Oh, you didn't deliberately crouch in the bushes, you didn't deliberately come here," Song Hengjue said coldly.

Yang Qingheng suddenly remembered why she had come to collect herbs today, and laughed angrily. She threw a handful of herbs hard at his face: "Song Hengjue, do you know that your mother said a few days ago that you were born with a defect?"

Song Hengjue brushed the herbs off his face: "What?"

"Your biggest flaw is that you have a mouth. When there's something to say, you can't be pried open, but when there's nothing to say, no medicine can make you mute."

He gave him a disdainful look, then turned and left.

Song Hengjue's face darkened instantly. After hesitating for a few seconds, he still followed her home.

As soon as she entered the courtyard, Yao Ying, who was picking vegetables in the yard, was taken aback: "Oh dear, where did this beggar come from?"

Song Hengjue said helplessly, "Mom."

"I haven't seen you for a day or two, but I do see you at meals. I don't have a beggar son like you." Yao Ying sneered, giving him no kind look.
