Tang Bainian coughed lightly, jumped out of the car, and personally opened the passenger door for her: "We can talk about it later. Let's get you to the hospital first."
Since it was a police car, Yang Qingheng wasn't afraid. She nodded and fastened her seatbelt.
There were few cars and people on the road, and the two arrived at the town's clinic in just half an hour.
The nurse was startled when she saw so much blood. Without saying anything about registering or queuing, she pushed her towards the examination room.
"Venous bleeding, it's not a big problem, don't worry." When the doctor heard that she had made the cut while cutting pig feed, he coughed and looked away.
Yang Qingheng knew without even looking that the doctor was making fun of her.
The doctor had professional ethics, but Tang Bainian behind him didn't, and he burst out laughing.
This made Yang Qingheng glare at her: "What are you laughing at? No matter how funny I am, it's not as funny as you, a policeman, pretending to be deaf and mute to avoid apologizing."
That damn cop treated her like a fool yesterday! This is intolerable! This is absolutely unacceptable!
Upon hearing this, the doctor finally couldn't help but look up at Tang Bainian with a strange expression.
“You’re quite vengeful,” Tang Bainian raised an eyebrow and explained seriously, “I didn’t notice the thief yesterday, I really didn’t mean to.”
“Pah!” Yang Qingheng exposed him. “At first he was just mesmerized by the thief, but he didn’t explain himself later, so it was intentional. He was just making a fool of me.”
Tang Bainian pressed his fist to his lips, and this time he honestly lowered his head and apologized: "I'm sorry, you are a magnanimous person. Please forgive me this time since I helped you."
Yang Qingheng snorted coldly, and was about to speak when the doctor stood up: "The stitches are done. Take care to rest, avoid getting it wet, eat a light diet, and come to the hospital to change the dressing and remove the stitches as soon as possible."
Only then did I realize that I had been arguing with Tang Bainian and had completely forgotten about the stitching.
She breathed a sigh of relief. It was better to forget about it. The sight of that bloody wound and the needle and thread going through it made her scalp tingle. Seeing it with her own eyes could make her faint on the spot.
She quickly thanked the doctor, saying, "Thank you, doctor."
"Okay, go with the nurse to pay the medical bills." The doctor nodded.
money?
Yang Qingheng's face froze instantly. She scratched her head and looked down, saying, "Doctor, can we pay for the medical expenses on credit?"
By the end, his voice was barely audible, and he himself found it ridiculously absurd.
Tang Bainian chuckled softly and shook his head helplessly: "The hospital doesn't allow credit, but... if you need help, you can ask the police for assistance."
Yang Qingheng said without any hesitation, "Then I'll have to trouble Officer Tang."
Tang Bainian chuckled and paid the medical bills with her. By the time they left the hospital, night had fallen.
"Get in the car, I'll take you home." He patted the car door.
Without a letter of introduction, she couldn't stay at the guesthouse, especially since she was penniless. Yang Qingheng felt that any talk of having backbone and not wanting to trouble others was meaningless, so she obediently climbed into the car.
After an unknown amount of time, the car suddenly braked sharply.
Yang Qingheng jolted awake, all sleepiness gone. Looking at the desolate night scene outside, she asked in surprise, "What happened?"
"A stray cat just darted past. Let me see if it's under the car." Tang Bainian unbuckled his seatbelt and got out of the car.
Yang Qingheng rubbed her temples. For some reason, her heart was pounding, and she had a vague feeling that something was about to happen.
After hesitating for a few seconds, she unbuckled her seatbelt and followed him out: "Did you find it?"
Tang Bainian lay on the ground, shining a flashlight under the car, and shook his head: "Nothing, they probably ran away."
Yang Qingheng stroked her chin thoughtfully, then suddenly curled her fingers and tapped the hood of the car.
A few faint cries came from inside, and the two exchanged a glance.
Tang Bainian suddenly opened the hood of the car and sure enough, he saw a pair of bright green eyes. When he shone a flashlight on them, the black and white calico cat seemed to be stimulated, and its fur stood on end.
This made him laugh out loud: "Such a small thing, yet it has such a big temper." He stretched out two fingers and pinched it up.
Yang Qingheng was amused by his description. Just as she was about to get into the car, something flashed through her mind, and she paused.
He took a quick step, stopping Tang Bainian's hand from closing the car hood: "Wait, give me the flashlight."
Tang Bainian stared at her serious face, completely bewildered, but for some reason, he felt an inexplicable trust in this girl he had only met twice.
Before I could even think, the flashlight had already been handed out.
……really.
Yang Qingheng lay on the hood of the car, still feeling a lingering fear.
