Seeing her contorted face, Yang Qingheng was even more annoyed than she, the person involved, and found it amusing.
"Alright, why get angry with them? Don't upset the baby."
Li Qiqi was still sullen, and even after the prenatal checkup ended and she returned to the ward, she still had a sour look on her face, which made Yao Jianjun uneasy. He carefully bent down and looked her in the eye: "Wife, what's wrong... is it not good?"
Li Qiqi shook her head: "It's okay. The doctor just said the baby is very healthy. It's just that the fetus has been fed a bit too much. Don't eat as much as before during this period. Just eat in moderation."
Hearing this, Yao Jianjun breathed a sigh of relief, put his arm around her waist, and lowered his posture: "Then why aren't you happy?"
"I just threw up again, I'm in a bad mood," Li Qiqi said with a forced smile.
Yao Jianjun, a rough and unrefined man, saw her smile and assumed she was in a good mood, so he chuckled along.
Seeing the young couple so happy, Yao Ying sighed, "I wonder when Qingheng plans to have a child. I'm getting older and my health is declining. If she has a child early, I can help her take care of it for a few years. If not, then the young couple will have to worry about it themselves."
"There's no need to rush this; everything depends on fate," Yao Jianjun comforted her.
Recalling what had just happened, Li Qiqi felt increasingly uneasy, and her tone became sharp: "What are you afraid of? If you want a grandson, it won't be long before you have one."
"Qiqi, how dare you talk to your aunt like that?" Yao Jianjun paused for a second, frowned, and gave her a look, signaling her to say something nice.
Li Qiqi refused to speak at this moment, and walked out with a dark face: "I'm going to the toilet."
Yao Jianjun was worried that something might happen to her, so he followed her closely.
Yao Ying was stunned by Li Qiqi's scolding and hesitated in her heart.
What does that mean? Could it be... that Yang Qingheng is pregnant?
Her heart suddenly started pounding.
I wish that were true!
Yao Ying felt full of energy and wished she could find Yang Qingheng right now to ask her something.
Yang Qingheng's nose itched, and she couldn't help but sneeze.
Just as I was about to knock, the door opened from the inside.
When Cheng Kai saw her, his expression changed, and he gripped the doorknob tightly: "What are you doing here?"
"Didn't you say your grandmother was hospitalized here? I happened to have some free time today, so I thought I'd come and visit." Yang Qingheng sensed his wariness and felt a little strange. She forced a calm smile and looked inside with curiosity in her eyes.
This was the first time I'd ever seen Cheng Kai so nervous.
However, Cheng Kai blocked the way completely, and she couldn't even see a corner of the clothes of the person inside.
Cheng Kai pursed his lips: "No need, my grandmother doesn't like seeing outsiders, you should go back first."
So mysterious?
Yang Qingheng wouldn't make a fool of herself, so she simply stuffed the fruit basket into his arms: "Okay, I'll come again another day. These are apples I bought at the supply and marketing cooperative. I've tasted them, they're sweet and not hard, the old lady can eat them. Please give my regards to your grandmother."
He nodded politely, then turned and left.
The door opened with a "whoosh".
Cheng Kai was holding a fruit basket and couldn't free his hands for a moment, so he could only watch as his grandmother rushed out and grabbed Yang Qingheng's hand: "Zhizhi, what brings you here today? Are you not busy at work today?"
Zhizhi?
The touch on her arm was warm and rough. Yang Qingheng paused for a few seconds and gave a mumbled response.
He squinted at Cheng Kai: What are you doing?
Cheng Kai felt guilty under her gaze, tugged at her sleeve, and looked at her with pleading eyes. If Xu Linsen and the others saw his pitiful and pleading look, they would be shocked.
Yang Qingheng sighed, patted the old lady's hand, and smiled slightly: "Yes, I'm not busy at work today. I haven't come to see you for so long, you're not angry, are you?"
The old lady pouted and walked inside angrily: "How dare I get angry? You have such a temper. If I say a few words to you, you won't come next time. Cheng Qi's son-in-law is much better. He comes more often than your own daughter."
Yang Qingheng raised an eyebrow. When the old lady mentioned Cheng Qi, her eyes were clearly fixed on Cheng Kai.
Having already figured out the answer, she gave a fawning smile and eagerly approached, saying, "Oh, Mom's right, it's all my fault. I'll peel an apple for you as punishment."
He deftly pulled out an apple, sat down on a small stool, and started working on it.
The old lady spoke angrily, but her eyes couldn't help but drift this way out of the corner of her eye.
"How come your hands are so useless? Oh dear... Oh dear! The knife is at an angle, and every time you peel a piece of fruit, it's a little bit smaller..." The more he looked at her, the more anxious he became, and he couldn't help but snatch the knife and apple from her hand.
Cheng Kai was startled, his face turning pale. He immediately tried to snatch it back, saying, "Be careful..."
Yang Qingheng stopped him, her eyes shining: "My mom's cooking skills are getting better and better. Whose mom is as good as mine?"
She showered the old lady with compliments, leaving her completely bewildered. The old lady peeled three apples for her before finally putting down the knife, seemingly unsatisfied. If Yang Qingheng hadn't been so full, she could have peeled a few more.
His smile never faded, and he proudly raised his chin, saying, "Eat your food, you chatterbox."
Yang Qingheng couldn't help but laugh out loud at that smug look, which improved her mood considerably. She hugged her waist and whispered a few words in her ear.
Cheng Kai hadn't seen his grandmother so happy in a long time. He eagerly leaned over to hear what the two of them were whispering to each other, but was scared back by a look from his grandmother.
Yang Qingheng almost burst out laughing at his silly look.
Yang Qingheng waited until the old lady was coaxed to sleep before quietly pushing open the door and going outside.
Cheng Kai looked at the dark circles under Yang Qingheng's eyes, scratched his head, and said somewhat embarrassedly, "You probably didn't sleep well last night while on watch, go back to sleep... Oh, thank you for today."
Yang Qingheng chuckled, looked him up and down a few times, and raised her chin: "So you insisted on asking me for help before because I look like your mother? And you kept bothering me, too?"
With his secret thoughts laid bare, Cheng Kai's ears turned bright red. He stammered for a while before finally saying, "No."
Yang Qingheng didn't believe it, and knowing that he was only bothering her for that reason, she felt a huge sense of relief.
Her attitude softened a bit, and she crossed her arms, leaned against the doorframe, and gave a teasing smile: "Hey, Cheng Kai, I helped you out today, don't you have any sincerity?"
"What kind of thank-you gift do you want?" Cheng Kai asked warily. "Let me tell you, I don't do anything like stealing."
Yang Qingheng patted him on the shoulder: "Don't worry, it's not like I'm stealing chickens or dogs."
Cheng Kai breathed a sigh of relief. He had spent several nights staking out the Yang family for her last time, and just thinking about it now made him sleepy and gave him a headache.
"All you need to do is..." Yang Qingheng's red lips parted slightly as she slowly leaned closer to him.
Perhaps it's true that appearance reflects the heart; Yang Qingheng's face has become increasingly mature over the past six months. Right now, there's a faint smile on her lips, and her soft, black hair is gently brushing against Cheng Kai's neck. She's simply a bewitching peach blossom fairy!
Cheng Kai's heart skipped a beat, and a dense current of electricity exploded in his mind.
