Chapter 232 Dismissal and Investigation

This statement reminded Song Hengjue, who immediately called his trusted confidant: "Keep an eye on the Beijing newspapers. If there's any report about General Manager Yang, remove it immediately."

"Is there any need to be so nervous?" Yang Qingheng chuckled.

Based solely on Qiao Xihe's words, without any evidence, and without even knowing who her lover is, this sounds like pure fabrication, no different from the rumors spread by old men and women in the village. Even the Beijing newspapers have a reputation; they would never report such worthless stuff.

"You don't understand." Song Hengjue was still shaken when he pressed her hard into his arms, his strength so great it felt like he wanted to melt her into his flesh and blood.

He couldn't afford to gamble, nor did he dare to. He didn't want any negative image of her to appear in the newspapers, especially because of him.

Overwhelmed by regret, he felt as if he were being swallowed whole. He shouldn't have openly harassed Yang Qingheng at her company, and he shouldn't have shamelessly appeared in public with her before she was even divorced.

Yao Ying's words pierced his heart like needles.

Mom was right, he's a selfish bastard who doesn't care about Yang Qingheng's reputation and only cares about his own feelings.

Song Hengjue was so sad that his heart was pounding.

Yang Qingheng found it amusing and patted him on the back: "Coward."

Song Hengjue still felt it wasn't safe enough, so he sat up straight and seriously cupped her face in his hands: "Let's see each other less for now. I'll come to see you after things have calmed down."

Who knows if some ruthless reporter might follow them?

He didn't want to take any risks.

"Whatever." Yang Qingheng thought he was making a fuss over nothing, but she didn't object.

They've been meeting far too frequently lately, and she's getting uncontrollably annoyed.

Song Hengjue had no idea what the woman was thinking. His eyes darted around, and he held the wedding rings he had just worn in front of her, his palms sweating with nervousness.

"The salesperson said the rings I like are a pair, and you can only buy a pair. Why don't you try them on? After all, you're paying for them, so don't waste them." Afraid that she would refuse, Song Hengjue quickly explained, "It's okay if you don't want them. If you don't want them, I can return them."

He spoke softer and softer, as if afraid others wouldn't know he was aggrieved.

Yang Qingheng found it amusing. Under his tense gaze, she took off Tang Bainian's ring and put it on, teasingly asking, "Are you satisfied now?"

Song Hengjue was so happy he was dizzy, and he kissed her lips hard twice.

How can someone be so lucky!

Song Hengjue said he wouldn't look for her, and Yang Qingheng actually didn't see him at the company for several days. Without an annoying person by her side, she felt uncomfortable and uneasy, as if something was missing.

"Song Hengjue hasn't been here lately?" She finally couldn't help but cough and ask Sun Rong, who had just entered.

“It’s good to be young. I can’t stand it after just two days apart,” Sun Rong said with a laugh, placing several elegant lunch boxes on the table. “He didn’t come, but lunch has been delivered.”

Yang Qingheng's eyes softened as she reached out and opened the lunchbox, but she lost her appetite after just one glance.

The presentation was exquisite, and it looked delicious, but she could tell at a glance that it wasn't Song Hengjue's cooking; he probably hired a chef specifically to make it.

He used to make and deliver things himself, but I don't know what he's been busy with these past two days. We haven't even met, and he hasn't had time to do these things either.

"You eat. The afternoon meeting is postponed by one day. I need to go back." Yang Qingheng glanced at the time, picked up her bag, and stood up.

Tang Bainian's promotion was finalized yesterday, and Mu Huihe said it was a happy occasion. They should have a family reunion dinner at home today, since they were still married and she couldn't miss such an event.

Sun Rong stared at the table full of food, unsure of where to begin.

What kind of behavior is it for her to eat the food that her boyfriend brought her?

Before I was even mentally prepared, a large hand suddenly reached out and took the box of peeled shrimp: "If you're too shy to eat it, I can help you."

Fang Nan looked at the delicious-looking and fragrant food in his hands and swallowed hard.

Song Hengjue, that sycophant, must have given Yang Qingheng the best of everything; he didn't need to think to know how expensive and delicious the meal would be.

Others might feel embarrassed, but he wouldn't. What's wrong with him eating a few shrimp from that damned capitalist Song Hengjue?

"Tsk, Mr. Yang didn't say you could eat it." Sun Rong didn't snatch it back, but she held onto the food on the table tightly, not giving him any chance to take advantage.

Her attitude towards Fang Nan was no longer as good as it had been at the beginning.

Previously, Yang Qingheng only had her as her confidante, and Yang Qingheng only trusted her. But ever since this brat came, Yang Qingheng has assigned many of her tasks to him.

Although she wasn't as busy at work, Sun Rong still felt uneasy.

"Stingy." Fang Nan curled his lip, snatched the item and ran, ignoring Sun Rong's laughter and curses behind him.

It was only 11 o'clock, not yet time to get off work, and the road home was smooth. The car was pulled into the yard at 12 o'clock.

Mu Huihe saw her enter, holding a bunch of vegetables in her hand: "Qingheng is back. Perfect timing, just stir-fry some vegetables and we can start eating."

The elderly couple didn't like to show off, so they only had family gatherings.

Yang Qingheng nodded and was about to go to the kitchen to get the bowls and chopsticks to set the table when Mu Xiaoxiao quickly pressed her down to sit on the sofa: "Oh, sister-in-law, I'll do it. You just got off work, take a rest first."

Yang Qingheng found it amusing, but she didn't stay idle either, and went into the kitchen.

Because of this joyous occasion, the atmosphere at the dinner table was especially pleasant. Even Tang's usually silent father had a smile on his face and put his arm around Tang Bainian's shoulder, insisting on having a couple of drinks with him.
