Chapter 8 Selling Bags

Sister-in-law Sun asked suspiciously, "You?" She thought to herself, "This person who never lifts a finger in the kitchen, I heard she can't even cook, yet she can do handicrafts?"

I didn't have high hopes, but I was still polite: "That's great. If you have time, you can make it for me. I'll pay you for the work, so I don't have to make a long trip to town."

Erniu's family.

Song Hengjue went inside and looked around but didn't see anyone. He walked out and saw Song Erniu carrying a basket full of half-dried pig feed.

He raised an eyebrow in surprise: "When did you switch to this job?"

Logically, the job of feeding pigs in the village is usually assigned to young girls and children. Although the work points are not many, it is easy.

Erniu was tall and strong, and he went to the dam construction site every day. He usually didn't care about these few work points.

Erniu rolled his eyes, threw down the basket with a thud, and complained bitterly: "It's all because of that troublesome girl in your family. I sent her to cut pig feed, and she disappeared halfway through. If the brigade leader hadn't been careful with the farm tools last night, I wouldn't have noticed that the basket was missing. I had to search for her on the mountain for ages."

Song Hengjue was speechless.

This woman... is truly utterly useless.

"Since you're here, you can go back yourself," Erniu waved his hand, looking disgusted. "I'll go inside and cook, the sooner I go, the sooner I'll be back."

Song Hengjue picked up the basket with one hand and strode towards the pigpen. He then slammed the basket down on the ground, spilling out a large bundle of pig feed.

Several pigs rushed over, scrambling and grunting as they grabbed the pig feed.

Just as Song Hengjue was about to carry the pig feed back, he noticed a dark stain on the feed and his gaze suddenly stopped.

He strode forward, shoved the pig heads aside, carefully examined the pile of pig feed, paused for a few seconds, and his emotions were inscrutable.

Yang Qingheng finished administering the last injection, stood up and stretched, when there was a knock on the door.

"Tiger?" She raised an eyebrow when she saw the little kid outside.

Tiger, hands behind his back, picked at his fingers, his eyes darting around: "My mom said she wants you to go to the movies." Before he could finish speaking, he took off running like a ghost.

The little brat is quite pretentious for his age.

Yang Qingheng found it funny.

Yesterday she heard that the village was going to show a movie. She didn't want to participate in such activities. It wasn't that she disliked group activities, but mainly because she had seen too many movies in her previous life, and watching them again would be too boring. She would rather stay home and sleep.

However, remembering that he had other things to do, he hesitated for a while, but still carried his things to the next room.

Sister-in-law Sun had just herded the hens back into their coop when she saw her come in. She greeted her warmly, "You're here. Don't rush. There's some hawthorn water in here. Go and have some. I asked Tiger's dad to save us some seats. We'll definitely be able to sit in the front later."

"Okay, thank you, sister-in-law," Yang Qingheng nodded, but instead of going inside, she raised the thing in her hand. "Sister-in-law, didn't you say yesterday that you wanted to make a schoolbag for Hu Zi? I've finished it. See if this will work."

Sister-in-law Sun thought she was just being polite, but she didn't expect her to actually do it. She quickly wiped the water off her hands and accepted it with both hands.

When I saw it, I was so shocked I almost dropped my eyeballs.

He slapped his thigh and exclaimed "Good!" several times.

"Qingheng, I really didn't expect you to be so skillful! I think it's even better than what they bought at the supply and marketing cooperative!" she exclaimed excitedly.

Yang Qingheng's backpack is dark blue, dirt-resistant, and has two giant pandas embroidered on the straps. The backpack is also embroidered with lifelike bamboo leaves and bamboo.

This embroidery skill is so exquisite that even experienced embroiderers outside might not be able to match it.

After hesitating for a moment, she asked, "How about I give you two yuan?"

She felt a little embarrassed after saying that the schoolbags in the supply and marketing cooperative also cost two yuan, but their workmanship was far inferior to Yang Qingheng's. However, she felt it wasn't worth spending an extra yuan or two just to buy a schoolbag.

Yang Qingheng burst out laughing and shook her head: "Sister-in-law, what are you saying? This schoolbag is a gift for Hu Zi. I won't accept any money. We're neighbors, why are you being so polite?"

"I can't accept this," Sister-in-law Sun said, her face flushed.

Yang Qingheng said helplessly, "Look at what you're saying. This is for Hu Zi, not for you. What are you embarrassed about?"

He waved to Tiger: "You brat, come over here and see if you like it."

Tiger's eyes lit up as he watched, but remembering how he had scolded Yang Qingheng yesterday, he couldn't bring himself to go over.

Upon hearing Yang Qingheng call him, he pouted, put his hands behind his back, and came over. He pretended not to care, took the item, glanced at it, and said stubbornly, "It's alright."

The scream in my heart could pierce the roof.

It's a panda! It's a national treasure! If he could carry that backpack, he'd be the coolest kid in school, and all those smug brats who show off their backpacks to him would be green with envy!

He was so excited that he forgot Yang Qingheng called him a stinky brat.

Yang Qingheng didn't expose him. Seeing that Sister-in-law Sun still looked embarrassed, she suggested to her, "Sister-in-law, if you're really too embarrassed, please do me a favor."

"Go ahead," Sister-in-law Sun readily agreed.

Yang Qingheng coughed lightly with her fist to her lips, took out a cloth bag from the bag, glanced at Hu Zi and found that he had already taken his schoolbag back to his room, then whispered to Sister-in-law Sun: "Sister-in-law, take this bag with you when you go to the movie. If anyone asks, just say you bought it on the black market for five yuan."

Sister-in-law Sun immediately understood what she was going to do, and patted her chest to assure her, "Don't worry, I'll take care of this!"

He paused for a moment, then gave her a heads-up: "If you really want to sell bags, this price isn't right. Five yuan is enough to buy a complete outfit, and canvas bags at the supply and marketing cooperative are only three yuan each."
