With a wave of his hand, he shouted, "Arrest him!"
"Don't touch me, I can walk by myself." Yang Qingheng shook off the outstretched hand and gave Li Xiang a deep look beside her.
Human hearts are unpredictable. From the very beginning, she had evidence that Li Xiang was involved in speculation with her, and Li Xiang was not unaware of this.
If anything happens to her, unless Li Xiang is capable of seventy-two transformations, he will inevitably be implicated.
Why take such a big risk to send her in?
Yang Qingheng frowned, suddenly feeling something was off.
The fact that Li Xiang was willing to take such a great risk clearly indicates that he was offered substantial benefits.
Yang Qingheng couldn't think of anyone other than Li Zichang, who was standing right in front of her, but Li Zichang's surprise at seeing her didn't seem fake.
Yang Qingheng had a headache.
"A serious crime that will cost you at least a decade or more in prison, even if you don't die. Don't even mention Tang Bainian, even if the bureau chief himself came, he couldn't save you. Kneel down and beg me now, and maybe I can do you a favor during the interrogation and save you from suffering so much." Seeing her calm and thoughtful expression, Li Zichang assumed she was thinking about Tang Bainian and disdainfully shattered her illusions.
Yang Qingheng glanced at him lightly, then feigned surprise and covered her mouth: "Oh dear, your face, did someone hit you? There are patches here and there, new wounds on top of old ones. I don't know who was so cruel."
Finally, he shook his head and laughed helplessly: "Captain Li, you're as dumb as a pig, barely able to protect yourself. Don't spout nonsense here, or I'll take it seriously."
Li Zichang's back wound throbbed with pain again, and in a fit of rage, he clenched his fist and was about to punch her.
Yang Qingheng scoffed, not even bothering to dodge, and pointed at Xu Feng in front of her: "Are you trying to commit a crime in a police car?"
As soon as he finished speaking, Xu Feng turned around and warned him with his eyes: "Li Zichang, this is not your territory. You better behave yourself, or don't blame us for being impolite."
"A lousy cop dares to challenge me!" Li Zichang's face turned ashen, his fists cracking, but he really didn't dare to make a move.
Tang Bainian was worried about not being able to catch him out, but if he did catch him now, it wouldn't be as easy to deal with this time as it was last time.
But the more he thought about it, the more aggrieved he became. His venomous black eyes fixed on Yang Qingheng, and his words seemed to spew venom: "You bitch, you just wait."
Tang Bainian can manage things at the police station, but once she's in prison, it's beyond his reach. At that point, this bitch will be no match for him.
Hospital.
Song Hengjue didn't know how many times he had walked around the ward.
Yao Ying's head throbbed: "Alright, stop pacing around, you're getting on my nerves."
Song Hengjue remained silent, pulled out a chair and sat down. For some reason, he had been restless all night, feeling as if something was about to happen. After a moment of contemplation, he asked, "Where did Yang Qingheng go?"
“Your Aunt Zhou said she’d come over for dinner, and she went out this afternoon. I don’t know if she’ll be back tonight,” Yao Ying said, noticing that her son was finally showing some concern for his wife. She thought their relationship had improved and her eyes lit up with joy. “It’s not appropriate for her to stay at someone else’s house so late at night. You, as her husband, should go and pick her up.”
Song Hengjue paused, then shook her head: "Let her stay if she wants. It's getting late, Mom, stop worrying and go to sleep."
He reached out and turned off the light before leaving the ward.
Yao Ying was furious. What a stupid kid.
Tang Bainian, that vixen, was eyeing Yang Qingheng covetously. Yet he dared to let his wife stay at someone else's house. Wasn't that like a white rabbit entering a fox's den?
What if I really get seduced by that vixen?
Outside the hospital, Song Hengjue smoked a pipe. The pungent smell of the tobacco couldn't suppress the intense unease in his heart. He gritted his teeth, kicked a stone on the ground, and strode outside with long legs.
Unexpectedly, the person she was looking for had already appeared in front of her.
Yang Qingheng got out of the car and handed her coat back to Tang Bainian: "Thank you for your help today. I'll treat you to a meal sometime."
"Okay, I'll wait." Tang Bainian glanced at Song Hengjue across from him, then slightly raised his lips at Yang Qingheng, a faint smile appearing in his eyes.
Song Hengjue's dark eyes glanced in their direction, seemingly unintentionally. He only looked away as if he were being electrocuted when the cigarette in his hand burned down to his fingers. His eyes flashed: "Mom said you hadn't come back so late, so she told me to come out and check on you."
"So you just stand here smoking?" Yang Qingheng stared mockingly at the extinguished cigarette in his hand.
He was supposed to come out and find her? Is this how he does it? By the time he finds her, her body will probably be completely cold.
Song Hengjue pursed her lips, gave Tang Bainian a deep look, and then turned to follow Yang Qingheng.
It was almost midnight when they arrived at the ward. The lights were off, and the old lady must have already fallen asleep. Yang Qingheng didn't disturb her. She opened the berth she had borrowed from the doctor, wrapped herself in a blanket, and slept in the corridor for the night.
For some reason, Song Hengjue didn't leave either. Yang Qingheng was in a state of turmoil, and all she could think about was what was going to happen tonight. She was so tired that she didn't want to even glance at him.
Tomorrow is her ex-husband's birthday, she's just wasting her time going to his place to make trouble.
Outside.
Tang Bainian watched the two enter the hospital, then opened the car door and climbed in.
Xu Feng, standing beside him, didn't start the car. He stared at him for two seconds and asked, "Are you really willing to change careers?"
Tang Bainian knew better than anyone how much he loved this job. He was someone who wanted to be at the police station 24/7 to handle cases, but now he was actually bowing down to his parents in Beijing for a woman. It was truly strange.
Tang Bainian took a deep breath, as if he had made a great decision: "Yes."
Will they come back?
