Chapter 11 Saving People Makes Him a Fool (shuhaige.net)

Yang Qingheng frowned, hesitated for a few seconds, and then stepped forward.

It turned out that a young man was robbing her with a knife, and the woman was clinging to the bag tightly, refusing to let go.

Several people were around, but perhaps afraid of getting into trouble, none of them stepped forward to help; they all just watched from a distance.

Yang Qingheng pursed her lips and slowly took a step back. The woman seemed to sense something and looked at her. The pleading look in her eyes made Yang Qingheng's heart tremble. She hurriedly looked away and ran away.

She was still shaken by the murder case and dared not get involved in such matters again.

Zhou Shuwen's heart sank instantly.

"You shameless bitch, let go!" The man grew impatient and kicked her hard in the stomach.

Zhou Shuwen's face contorted in pain, and her despair grew.

"Big brother, it's there!" Yang Qingheng ran over, her face pale, pointing at the two people in front of her, breathless.

A light suddenly ignited in Zhou Shuwen's broken eyes, and a strange bittersweet feeling welled up in her heart.

The burly man frowned, his face darkening, and rushed forward, quickly pinning the robber with the knife to the ground.

"You little brat, don't you even know what the rules are around here? You dare to rob me on my turf? You don't want your life anymore, do you?!"

The woman who was being robbed was screaming in pain, but Yang Qingheng had no time to watch the commotion. She quickly helped the woman up and asked, "Auntie, are you alright?"

"It's nothing," the woman shook her head, leaning weakly against her, patting her chest with relief, and laughing heartily, "Thank you so much for earlier, young lady."

Yang Qingheng's face flushed instead: "I just went to call someone, but they weren't of much help."

She wouldn't dare go up to help, but she could manage to call a guard at the entrance of the black market; otherwise, she'd be too inhuman.

"You should thank me, you should thank me." Zhou Shuwen held her hands tightly, her face full of sincerity.

In such a dangerous situation, it was already more than kind of the girl to call someone for her. She hadn't forgotten that even several grown men hadn't come forward to help. Luckily, the girl was quick-witted.

Zhou Shuwen touched her bag, feeling a little scared.

"What's your name? I'll come to thank you in person later." She patted Yang Qingheng's hand, her eyes full of affection.

At the entrance to the black market, there were many people watching, and who knows who might have seen her transaction? Yang Qingheng lowered her brows, not daring to reveal her information: "Auntie, there's no need for thanks. I didn't help much, and your visit makes me feel embarrassed."

Zhou Shuwen hesitated, then grabbed her arm urgently: "Then...you have to give me an address, right?"

She watched longingly, and Yang Qingheng sighed helplessly. She glanced around warily before whispering in her ear, "I'm from Songjia Village. We're all from the same hometown, so there's no need to be so polite. You should go home now."

Fearing she might ask something else, Yang Qingheng hurriedly said goodbye and turned to leave.

"Sister Zhou, what happened?" Yao Ying rushed over in a panic, her face full of anxiety as she looked at Zhou Shuwen's disheveled appearance.

Zhou Shuwen sighed and rubbed her forehead, clearly annoyed: "Where did you go just now?" She vanished in the blink of an eye. Did she even realize how important the contents of her bag were?!

Yao Ying: "I was just passing by a small market and thought I'd go in and buy some meat to take home. Who would have thought..." Seeing Zhou Shuwen's increasingly unpleasant expression, she awkwardly shut her mouth.

"If I had known you were this unreliable, I wouldn't have let you drive me home." Zhou Shuwen sighed, feeling that she must have been out of her mind to have randomly chosen a fellow villager and dared to bring so much money home.

She should wait for her nephew to get off work and take her.

Luckily, that girl helped me.

Thinking of Yang Qingheng's beautiful face, she had a sudden inspiration: "Yao Ying, I remember Xiao Yang said you're from Songjia Village? Can you do me a favor?"

"Go ahead," Yao Ying said, her eyes lighting up at her angry expression. She had assumed her son's job search was ruined, but her eyes lit up when she heard her say that, and she quickly agreed.

"Could you ask the girl who saved me earlier what her name is, and if she has a boyfriend?"

"What do you want?" Yao Ying asked, puzzled.

Her son is only fifteen years old, so there's no need to rush.

"What are you thinking? I'm introducing you to my nephew." Zhou Shuwen laughed in exasperation and glared at her fiercely.

Yao Ying breathed a sigh of relief and patted her chest, "No problem, leave this to me. Just wait and you'll have a beautiful and virtuous niece-in-law in the family."

She met Zhou Shuwen's nephew the day before yesterday. He was tall and had long legs, and was quite handsome. She heard that he was a policeman with a government job. With those qualities, he could easily be a match for any girl in the village, or even an educated youth.

"What about Hengjue finding a job?" Yao Ying asked tentatively.

"Once things are settled, everything else is negotiable," Zhou Shuwen said generously.

Yao Ying grinned and responded repeatedly, so happy she was practically beside herself.

She traveled all the way to her parents' home to try and build a relationship with Zhou Shuwen for this very reason, and now that she has received a verbal agreement, she has already succeeded more than halfway.

I need to ask her when I get back which kind girl did the good deed; she really helped her a lot!

Yang Qingheng was unaware that her mother-in-law had her eye on her. When she got home, she immediately took the goods back to her room. After doing this, she didn't have much money left.

She looked at the few thin bills and felt a headache coming on.

"Bang! Bang! Bang!" The door suddenly made a loud noise.

"Why are you closing the door in broad daylight! Yang Qingheng! Get the hell out here!"

Yang Qingheng was startled and quickly ran out to open the door: "Mom, why are you back?"

Yao Ying sneered and looked her up and down: "If I hadn't come back, I wouldn't have known you were so shameless, eloping with another man in broad daylight. My family is really unlucky to have married you."

Yang Qingheng pursed her lips and didn't reply.

She really did something wrong, and I would be surprised if her mother-in-law didn't scold her when she came home today.

"You must be tired after coming all this way. Take a rest, I'll cook for you." She turned and walked into the kitchen.

She never wanted to spend her life with Song Hengjue in her past life, so her attitude towards her mother-in-law was always one of "what's the use of trying" and "what's the use of trying to get by." It's easy to imagine how difficult it was for him to be caught in the middle. Since she wants to spend her life with him in this life, she naturally wants to improve her relationship with her mother-in-law.

Yao Ying scoffed, put her hands on her hips, and said in a sarcastic and disdainful tone, "Is the food you cook even fit for human consumption? If you ask me, Hengjue should have married Jiaoyan back then. She's cultured, has great cooking skills, and even the factory director likes her now."

When she spoke of Li Jiaoyan, her expression softened.

Yang Qingheng's brow twitched twice. Even though she had long known that her mother-in-law's ideal daughter-in-law was Li Jiaoyan, she couldn't help but feel somewhat displeased upon hearing this with her own ears.

He looked at her coldly and said, "How do you know my cooking is bad if you haven't even tasted it? No matter how good Li Jiaoyan is, your son will still marry me. If you like her, you can marry her yourself and the two of you can live together."

Yao Ying's face darkened, and she pointed at Yang Qingheng's nose, saying, "You dare to talk back?" She felt increasingly dissatisfied with Yang Qingheng.
