Chapter 168 Deliberately Targeting

Chapter 168 Deliberately Targeting

Aunt Bai moved her lips and continued frying the taro rolls.

Yu Hui raised her eyebrows and realized that it would not be easy to prepare the four dishes today.

After cleaning up the counter, Yu Hui washed the fish first, placed it on the chopping board, and planned to use a knife to remove the fish bones and cut it.

Just as I pulled out a large kitchen knife from the knife rack, I heard Aunt Bai yell, "Don't use this knife on fish. If you use it on fish, it will smell fishy and I won't be able to cut other vegetables."

"Use this one." Aunt Bai took the kitchen knife from Yu Hui's hand, pulled out a chipped kitchen knife from the side and handed it to her.

Yu Hui took the knife and frowned, "This knife is too blunt."

Aunt Bai: "If it's blunt, just sharpen it. There's a whetstone right at the kitchen door."

Yu Hui looked at her with the knife in her hand, smiled speechlessly, and didn't bother with her. She took a bowl of water and walked out the door.

The small door of the kitchen opens to the yard.

After going down two steps, you will reach the yard. Next to it is a grindstone as big and as tall as a small stool.

Yu Hui poured some water on the stone and just as she squatted on the ground to grind it, the big iron gate opened.

Commander Zhan and Zhan Lang are back.

"Aunt Yu, what are you doing?" Zhan Lang walked over as soon as he saw Yu Hui.

Yu Hui stood up and nodded to Commander Zhan who was looking over here as a greeting.

"I'm sharpening the knife." Yu Hui raised the blunt kitchen knife in her hand and said to Zhan Lang.

Zhan Lang frowned as he looked at the knife. "Is my kitchen knife this broken? It even has a chip on it."

"It might be an old knife that has not been used. I want to cut fish. Sister Bai is afraid that the kitchen knife will be stained with fishy smell and it will be difficult to cut other things, so she asked me to use this knife to cut fish."

Yu Hui had no intention of complaining, she was just telling the truth.

Zhan Lang didn't think much about it and took the knife from her hand, "Let me sharpen it."

Someone offered to help sharpen the knife, and Yu Hui didn't refuse and went into the kitchen.

Aunt Bai saw her coming in empty-handed and asked, "Where's the knife?"

"Zhan Lang is grinding."

“…” Aunt Bai had a constipated expression.

Yu Hui pretended not to see it and went to wash the ingredients she needed.

"Aunt Yu, the knife is sharpened." Zhan Lang walked into the kitchen with a knife, the blade of which was sharpened to a shine.

Yu Hui took the knife, looked at it, and scratched the blade with the tip of her thumb. It was very sharp.

"Yes, very good."

Zhan Lang smiled, "Aunt Yu, is there anything I can help you with?"

Yu Hui was about to ask Zhan Lang to help her peel garlic when Aunt Bai said, "Where are men helping in the kitchen? We don't need you in the kitchen. Xiao Lang, take the golden taro rolls and go eat them. They're your favorite, and they're still hot from the pan."

Aunt Bai picked up a few golden taro rolls and put them on a plate, letting Zhanlang eat them.

Zhan Lang was a little unhappy when he heard this, "Aunt Bai, men and women are equal. What women can do, men can do too."

He picked up a golden taro roll and handed it to Yu Hui, "Aunt Yu, try this taro roll. Our Aunt Bai makes the most delicious one."

Aunt Bai felt very uncomfortable when she saw Zhan Lang being so nice to Yu Hui.

Yu Hui glanced at Aunt Bai's drooping mouth, took the golden taro roll, took a bite, and frowned slightly.

Seeing her frown, Aunt Bai got angry and asked, "Why, it's not tasty?"

Yu Hui: “It’s so sweet.”

I don’t know how much sugar was put into this taro paste, it’s so sweet that it makes me feel heartburned.

"It tastes better when it's sweet," Aunt Bai said with a look of 'What do you know?'

Zhan Lang also picked up the golden taro roll and took a bite. "Aunt Bai, did you put too much sugar? It's really too sweet this time."

Aunt Bai was stunned for a moment, then she picked up a taro roll and took a bite. "Oh no, I think I put sugar in it twice."

Yu Hui raised her eyebrows and said it was too sweet.

"What should I do?"

Aunt Bai wanted to make it again, but all the taro and ingredients for the taro rolls were used up.

"It's edible." Zhan Lang said and stuffed the last bite into his mouth. It was so sweet that he swallowed it without chewing.

Just eating it, isn't this ruining her cooking skills?

It was because when she was preparing the filling, she was always thinking about outdoing Xiao Yu, and she was distracted, so she added more sugar.

Aunt Bai looked at the taro rolls in her hand with worry. It was too late to make them again or switch to other snacks, so she could only make do with them.

"Well, that's all we can do." Aunt Bai sighed and glanced at Yu Hui irritably.

It's all her fault.

"Aunt Yu, do you need my help?" Zhan Lang looked at Yu Hui and asked again.

Yu Hui thought for a moment and said, "Please peel a head of garlic for me, and then help me clean a handful of green onions."

"Okay." Zhan Lang happily picked up the garlic and started peeling it.

Yu Hui used a sharpened knife to remove the bones and cut the three grass carps, then marinated them with onion, ginger water, and salt for later use.

The pig liver and kidneys were cut out, and the pig kidneys were cut into flower shapes one by one. They were also marinated with onion, ginger water and salt to remove the fishy smell.

Seeing that the stove was still occupied, Yu Hui washed the chopping board and knife, and cut out the necessary ingredients and tender tofu.

She had prepared all the dishes and ingredients, and was just waiting for an empty stove and pot to come out so she could blanch the pork belly and fry the fish.

"Sister Bai, is the food in your stove almost ready?" Yu Hui waited for a while, and when she saw that the stove was still not empty, she spoke.

Aunt Bai said impatiently, "It's too early. I have beef stewed on one stove and Buddha Jumps Over the Wall on the other. The beef will take another hour, and the Buddha Jumps Over the Wall won't be ready until midnight."

Yu Hui frowned and said, "You can put the beef on the back burner of the big stove to braise it."

She can braise cold dishes like braised beef a day in advance.

"There are two stoves at the back. One is for steaming rice and the other is for stewing lamb brisket. I also have a chicken cooking in the big pot. It won't work."

Yu Hui smiled and said, "You've taken up all the stoves and pots. How am I supposed to cook?"

Aunt Bai lifted the lid of the pot, took a look at the chicken in the pot and said nothing.

Yu Hui also realized that she did it on purpose, so she stopped talking nonsense with her and turned to leave the kitchen.

Seeing her go out, Aunt Bai shook her head and rolled her eyes.

Yu Hui went to find Zhan Lang.

"Aunt Bai is using your stove, furnace, and all the pots right now. They won't be available anytime soon. I have a dish that will take time to cook. Can you help me find a bigger stove and a bigger iron pot?"

"Ah?" Zhan Lang was very surprised. He had so many stoves and pots at home, but they were not enough?

"Aunt Yu, please wait a moment. I'll go next door to borrow a big stove and a big iron pot." Zhan Lang said and went out.

After a while, Zhan Lang came back, holding a big iron stove in both hands, and the guard was behind him carrying a big iron pot with two handles.

"Aunt Yu, this stove and pot probably can't fit in the kitchen. Can we put them in the yard?" Zhan Lang looked at Yu Hui and asked.

"OK."

Under Yu Hui's instructions, Zhan Lang placed the stove against the wall near the kitchen.

Aunt Bai heard the commotion and came out. Seeing that Yu Hui had asked Zhan Lang to borrow the stove and pot, her eyes twitched and she said pretentiously, "The stove at home is enough. I can use Xiao Yu after I use it. Why did you go and borrow the stove?"
