Chapter 402 Overtime in Danger
Bai Chunhua had dinner at home and went out again before it got dark.
She made clothes slower than Hongmei and Xiaohui. She wanted to go back to the store to work overtime, but she was afraid that her grandfather would find out and stop her, so she sneaked out.
Bai Chunhua used the key to open the door, closed the shop door and started making clothes in the backyard.
Once she focused, she forgot about time.
When I felt some pain in my arm, I stopped and pinched it. I looked at my watch and it was almost nine o'clock.
"No, no, we have to go back."
Bai Chunhua didn't even bother to finish the half-made clothes, and hurried home with a flashlight.
The street lights were still on at this time, but there was no one on the street. Bai Chunhua was quite scared walking alone on the street.
She held the flashlight tightly and prayed in her heart that she would not meet any bad people.
At the same time, she also regretted coming out to work overtime after dinner. She should have worked in the store until seven o'clock before going home.
“Ahem…”
When a cough sounded, Bai Chunhua tightened the flashlight in her hand, looked around, and saw a man walking towards her.
The man was also stunned when he saw her, then continued walking forward.
Bai Chunhua swallowed hard, clenched the flashlight in her hand, moved to the side, lowered her head and quickened her pace.
As she walked, she found a figure on the ground in front of her. When she looked up, the man was ten steps away from her, grinning at her.
Bai Chunhua opened her mouth wide, too frightened to make a sound.
"Why are you leaving in such a hurry? You just looked at me. You like me, right?"
Bai Chunhua staggered back a few steps, "No, I didn't."
"Why are you pretending? What decent woman would hang around the street at night. How much is it?" The man approached.
Bai Chunhua stepped back repeatedly. She probably understood what the other party meant by asking how much it would cost per session. She was so scared that her voice trembled. "You misunderstood. I'm not that kind of person. Go away..."
"What do you mean it's not? You can tell at a glance." The man said as he reached out to hold her hand.
"Ah..." Bai Chunhua screamed in fright.
"Ding-ling, ding-ling..." The sound of a bicycle bell rang out.
"What are you doing?" A flashlight beam shone on the man's face. The man blocked it with his hand, turned around and ran away.
Bai Chunhua's legs went limp and she collapsed to the ground, covering her face and crying.
"Comrade, are you okay?" A bicycle stopped beside Bai Chunhua.
When Bai Chunhua heard the voice, she was frightened again, fearing that this was still a bad guy. She put down her hand and saw that the other person was wearing a police uniform. She immediately breathed a sigh of relief.
With a crying voice, she said, "I'm fine."
"It's you."
Bai Chunhua raised her tearful eyes and looked at the police officer. "About half a month ago, we met at the Public Security Bureau. You and your friend brought a little girl who had been sold to beggars by her father to the Public Security Bureau."
Bai Chunhua wiped her tears and looked at the tender baby face above and recognized him.
"You are the public security comrade who interrogated the prisoner."
"Yes, my last name is Wu and my name is Wu Yang."
"You have a nice name. I hope you are well and healthy." Bai Chunhua, who was studying culture with Mr. Lu, blurted out.
Wu Yang grinned, "You are quite cultured."
Uneducated people cannot associate these things with his name when they hear it, and many people even think his name is weird.
Bai Chunhua smiled embarrassedly and said, "I'm not well educated. It was because of my lack of education that my ex-husband dumped me and married a well-educated college student." She said somewhat sadly.
She hadn't thought about Lu Tianyou for a long time. When she encountered such a thing today, she became vulnerable and remembered the words Lu Tianyou said to her.
Wu Yang knew that she had a child, but he didn't know that she was divorced. Seeing her speak of sad things with a sad expression, he also showed some sympathy.
"That's because he's blind and has no vision. You're a good person, beautiful, and can even say two four-character idioms. Others can look down on you, but you must never look down on yourself."
Bai Chunhua: "Thank you."
"Can you stand up on your own?"
Bai Chunhua tried to support herself with her hands, then shook her head and said, "My legs are weak."
Wu Yang stretched out his hand, "I'll pull you."
Bai Chunhua stared at his hand for a while before putting her hand on it.
Wu Yang pulled her up and asked her where she lived. After Bai Chunhua told him the truth, he frowned and said, "That road is quite dark. Let me take you home."
He then got on the bicycle and said to Bai Chunhua, "Come on."
Bai Chunhua hesitated for a moment and slowly sat on the back seat. This was her first time sitting on the back seat of someone's bicycle.
"I'm leaving, hold on to my clothes."
Bai Chunhua stretched out her hands and grabbed a little, "Let's go." The bicycle started moving, and Bai Chunhua's body leaned forward due to inertia, hitting Wu Yang's back, while also grabbing his clothes on both sides.
"Hold on, hold on tight." Wu Yang's ears turned red.
"I, I hold on tight." Bai Chunhua's face also turned red.
After riding for a while, Wu Yang felt too embarrassed and tried to find a topic to chat about.
"Why are you still out so late?"
"The two sisters you met at the Public Security Bureau last time and I opened a clothing store at the end of that street. We haven't opened yet, so we make our own clothes and sell them. I was a little slow, so I thought I'd work overtime and I didn't realize I was working this late."
"Opening a clothing store? You guys are pretty impressive."
Bai Chunhua shook her head. "I'm not that good. Xiaohui is the good one. They brought me along with them."
Wu Yang: "They will take you to do it because they think you are a good person, capable, and trustworthy. So you are pretty good too."
"is that so?"
"certainly."
Bai Chunhua, who has always been self-deprecating, gained some confidence.
"Look, you think you're slow, but you still come to work overtime at night. Doesn't that prove that you're a hardworking and responsible person?"
Bai Chunhua's confidence continued to rise, and for the first time, she received affirmation from another person.
"Do you think I'm right?" Wu Yang asked when he saw that she didn't say anything.
Bai Chunhua nodded, "You are right."
Wu Yang: "So you must never underestimate yourself in the future."
The bicycle pulled into the dim alley, "Which house do you live in?"
Bai Chunhua said, "Just five more houses."
Hearing this, Wu Yang looked at her strangely, but it was too dark around and Bai Chunhua didn't notice.
The bicycle stopped at the door of Lu's house and Bai Chunhua jumped off the back seat.
Wu Yang glanced at the gate, then looked at Bai Chunhua and asked, "Do you live here?"
Bai Chunhua nodded, "Thank you for today, otherwise..."
Otherwise she didn't know what terrible things would happen.
"This is what I should do as a public security officer, so your ex-husband is Lu Tianyou?" Wu Yang asked.
Bai Chunhua frowned, "Do you know him?"
Wu Yang laughed, "Of course I don't know him, we are classmates. He is indeed blind and heartless."
He had looked down on Lu Tianyou since he was in school, thinking that he was a fake person, and facts proved that he was indeed such a person.
"Mr. Lu is also my teacher. He taught me before. It was thanks to his financial support that I was able to finish high school, get admitted to the Public Security University, and become a police officer."
When he was in junior high school, his parents died in a car accident. He was originally unable to continue his studies. It was Mr. Lu who saw that he had good academic performance and did not want him to drop out of school, so he funded him and helped him become what he is today.
Bai Chunhua didn't expect that he had such a connection with the Lu family.
"I didn't see you when I went to visit the old man during the New Year."
Bai Chunhua: "My daughter and I only met Mr. Lu after the New Year."
"So that's how it is. I won't say any more. It's time for me to go home. I'll come see the old man again tomorrow." After saying that, Wu Yang turned around and left on his bicycle.
Bai Chunhua raised her hand and after a long while, she said a very soft "Goodbye~"
