Chapter 8 I Have Seventy-Two Transformations

"Xiaobei, you put so many sweet potatoes in the porridge today, and it looks like you put a lot of rice in it too. I guess the rice in our rice jar won't last until the end of the month when the food coupons are distributed, right?"

"Yeah, little sister, we still have to save some food, otherwise everyone's stomachs will protest collectively in the last few days of the month!"

After being surprised, Fan Huifang took the lead and asked Shen Xiaobei seriously.

As always, Deng Yuliang liked to take over her words and be the second person to speak.

However, he did not take the matter so seriously, and there was a hint of humor in his tone.

"I was wondering why you were so kind today. You didn't ask me to make breakfast with you, but wanted to make it by yourself! So, you wanted to create this 'surprise' for us?"

"You really can't judge a person by his appearance! Some people are obviously spendthrifts at heart, but they try to pretend to be able to get by! And now, after pretending for so long, they can't keep it up any longer!"

Seeing this sumptuous breakfast made by Shen Xiaobei, he was met with subtle reproaches from Fan Huifang and Deng Yuliang.

Kong Wanwan looked gloating and immediately seized the opportunity to fan the flames.

Shen Xiaobei glanced at her coldly and did not respond to her words.

He then looked at Fan Huifang and Deng Yuliang with a bright smile on his face.

He said with a firm tone, "Sister Huifang, Brother Deng, don't worry. I promise you with my life that I will never let us go without food at the end of the month!"

"Since the sweet potato porridge is ready, just enjoy it! If you don't, you won't have the energy to work later!"

"Yeah, Brother Deng, why don't we just eat? We still have to go back to work later!"

Although Du Wenli was also a little surprised, he was not too worried about having no food to eat at the end of the month.

He knew that Kong Wanwan still had a few kilograms of food coupons and some money sent by her family. As long as she didn't break up with him, she would definitely not watch him starve.

Moreover, today's eye-catching breakfast really made him greedy!

He was a grown man, and he worked for two hours in the morning, which was all physically demanding work, and then came back carrying three loads of water.

My stomach has been protesting for a long time.

Fan Huifang and Deng Yuliang were so rigid that he felt they were just two old antiques who didn't know how to adapt and live.

What is life?

When you can enjoy something, you must enjoy it in time. Why should you miss out on enjoying it?

Besides, it’s just a breakfast that is a little richer and more substantial than usual.

Look how nervous they both are, as if they will have nothing to eat for the next meal after eating this breakfast!

Kong Wanwan was actually quite hungry too.

And she knew that since the breakfast had been prepared, everyone would eventually eat it.

She just wanted to take this opportunity to embarrass Shen Xiaobei and lower her impression in everyone's mind. Unexpectedly, this Du Wenli had no tacit understanding with her at all and started to sing a different tune from her!

She was so angry that she reached out and pinched his thigh hard in private.

Du Wenli cried out "ouch" with his mouth wide open in pain.

His cry sounded a little rude.

His grinning face made people feel a little funny, which immediately made the whole atmosphere relaxed and humorous.

Deng Yuliang couldn't help but put on a smile.

He said to the ladies, "Huifang, two little sisters, why don't we start eating? Since we've already cooked, let's not let Little Sister Shen down with her cooking skills!"

"Okay, go ahead and eat! We can't throw them all away! But Xiaobei, next time, don't make it so rich. I'm really afraid we'll be left with nothing!"

"Don't worry, Sister Huifang, I told you, nothing like this will ever happen!"

"Yeah, I can eat it then!"

Ke Xiaoli had long wanted to pick up her chopsticks and try the thick sweet potato porridge and the two dishes that looked delicious just by looking at their colors.

Seeing that everyone finally stopped caring, she cheered and immediately happily picked up a piece of sweet sweet potato and put it in her mouth.

Kong Wanwan also started eating.

However, she did not forget the doubts in her heart, so she asked questions while eating, and took this opportunity to observe Shen Xiaobei's expression to see if she was guilty of lying.

"Shen Xiaobei, where did this egg come from? I remember we have no eggs in the kitchen for a long time!"

"Yeah, I wanted to ask that too, Xiaobei. These are duck eggs, right? Where did you get them?"

"Sister Huifang, yes, this is a duck egg. I found it by the river when I came back yesterday evening."

"Picked it up? Are you that lucky? I go to the river to wash clothes every day, so how come I've never picked up a duck egg there?"

"How should I know? If you want to know so badly, why not find a chance and ask the mother duck who laid these eggs by the river?"

"you--"

Kong Wanwan was so angry at Shen Xiaobei's eloquent and calm words that she opened her eyes wide and her brain suddenly went blank.

Some feel at a loss for words!

The other people at the dinner table were relaxed by Shen Xiaobei’s words, but they were too embarrassed to laugh out loud for fear that Kong Wanwan would be angry.

I had no choice but to try hard to hold it in while eating.

Kong Wanwan glanced at them unhappily, knowing that they must be laughing at her in their hearts.

I felt even more unwilling.

After calming down a bit, she continued to question, "Even if you were lucky enough to pick up the duck eggs by the river, what about this plate of cucumbers?"

"I remember I only picked a small one this morning. Why are there so many on this plate? There should be at least two or three, right? Where did all these come from? Did you get lucky and pick them up by the river again?"
