Chapter 126 Asking Zhou Xiye for a Reward
Jiang Zhizhi pushed Shang Xingzhou upstairs into the ward.
Shang Xingzhou entered the ward with a serious and reserved expression. He didn't even know which foot to step with first. He was holding a large bowl of chicken soup and stood motionless at the door.
Zhou Zhou's calm gaze made him even more nervous and at a loss.
Jiang Zhizhi glanced at Shang Xingzhou, who had fallen silent in a second, behaving as obediently as a primary school student.
She took the basin from his hands and placed it on the bedside table, then put her hand on Zhou Xiye's shoulder: "His name is Shang Xingzhou. He came from Shanghai. He admires you very much and came all this way just to see you."
Shang Xingzhou stepped forward, his back straight, his hands pressed tightly against his trouser seams: "Captain Zhou, my name is Shang Xingzhou, I am seventeen years old! I am 1.83 meters tall and weigh 65 kilograms. I am good at free fighting and long-distance running."
Jiang Zhizhi looked at Shang Xingzhou in shock; the child was acting as if he were reporting to a leader.
Zhou Xiye was a little surprised. He looked up at Shang Xingzhou and pondered for a moment: "You're the son of a merchant from Shanghai? What's your relationship with Shang Shiyi?"
Shang Xingzhou answered honestly, "It's my dad, Captain Zhou. I want to join your special forces."
Zhou Xiye's gaze was calm: "You need to register for military service first, and then you will be selected."
Shang Xingzhou immediately nodded: "I know the process. I just came to get acquainted with you first. I can endure hardship and take a beating."
Jiang Zhizhi chuckled. This child was sometimes surprisingly clever, and sometimes adorably silly.
Li Zhuo stood to the side, his eyes wide with shock. At that moment, he wished he could go back a few hours and take back the nonsense he had said in front of Zhou Xiye.
Jiang Zhizhi added a pillow behind Zhou Xiye's back and said with a smile, "Shang Xingzhou, don't be so reserved. You're calling me 'sister,' so just call him 'brother-in-law.'"
Shang Xingzhou was stunned for a moment, then immediately called out to Zhou Xiye in a crisp voice, "Brother-in-law."
For once, Zhou Xiye was caught off guard; the child, however, listened to Jiang Zhizhi.
Jiang Zhizhi turned to look at Li Zhuo: "I made a pot of chicken soup for you and Zhou Xiye."
Li Zhuo was surprised: "Sister-in-law, leave it for the captain to drink, I'm not injured."
Jiang Zhizhi's expression turned serious: "Although you are not injured, you look very unwell. The temperature is low and the humidity is high in the wild, which is not good for your health. Your physical condition is definitely not as good as before. Eat something good to replenish your energy so that you can recover your strength faster."
Li Zhuo was surprised and taken aback. He hadn't expected Jiang Zhizhi to be able to observe so carefully.
He was quite angry before, but Jiang Zhizhi came to see Zhou Xiye and then left. It turned out she was going back to make chicken soup.
She instantly felt embarrassed: "Sister-in-law, I don't need it..."
Before he could finish refusing, Zhou Xiye spoke up: "Go get a lunchbox and we can eat together."
Then, looking at Shang Xingzhou, who was still standing ramrod straight, she said, "Please sit down, there's no need to be so formal."
Shang Xingzhou was naturally cheerful and outgoing, and being a worldly-wise young man, he immediately became familiar with Zhou Xiye after hearing his words. He went to get a stool, sat down on the edge of the bed, and looked at Zhou Xiye with curiosity: "Brother-in-law, I heard that you are a master marksman. You can snipe any target from beyond the effective range. That's amazing."
Zhou Xiye remained silent. Shang Xingzhou's personality was somewhat similar to Jiang Zhizhi's.
Very unconventional.
Jiang Zhizhi smiled and served Zhou Xiye a bowl of chicken soup and boneless chicken leg meat: "You eat first, I'll go see if I can buy red dates and goji berries later."
Then he called out to Shang Xingzhou, "Want to eat something together?"
Shang Xingzhou nodded quickly: "Okay, I'll wash the dishes after we eat..."
...
Shang Xingzhou was quite perceptive. After the meal, he rushed to wash the dishes and happily said goodbye to Zhou Xiye and Jiang Zhizhi: "Sister, brother-in-law, you rest first, I'll come to see you later."
Before Jiang Zhizhi and Zhou Xiye could speak, they had already darted away like rabbits.
Seeing that Jiang Zhizhi seemed indifferent, but was still very attentive to Zhou Xiye, even deboning the chicken, what else could he possibly worry about?
As soon as Shang Xingzhou left, he immediately followed suit to say goodbye.
Jiang Zhizhi thought for a moment and said, "Go back and get some rest. Come over for dinner tonight too."
Li Zhuo responded, his impression of Jiang Zhizhi changed. She was young, but very capable and reliable in taking care of Zhou Xiye.
Only after the ward door closed did Zhou Xiye have a chance to speak: "How did you and Shang Xingzhou meet?"
The chattering of Shang Xingzhou was still ringing in his ears, making them hurt.
Jiang Zhizhi smiled and said, "Don't you think he looks familiar?"
Zhou Xiye nodded: "It's the young man who almost bumped into you at the mall entrance that day."
When he saw Jiang Zhizhi and Shang Xingzhou arguing and talking upstairs, he didn't suspect that Jiang Zhizhi had a problem with her character. Instead, he wondered what Shang Xingzhou's purpose was in getting close to Jiang Zhizhi.
Unexpectedly, Shang Xingzhou came specifically for him.
Jiang Zhizhi gave Zhou Xiye a thumbs up: "Your memory is amazing, you were able to recognize it at a glance."
As he spoke, he hurriedly went out and brought back half a basin of water, poured some boiling water into it, and brought it to Zhou Xiye. He then took a towel, rolled up his sleeves, and looked ready to get to work.
Zhou Xiye was taken aback: "What are you going to do?"
Jiang Zhizhi glanced at him: "Let me wipe you down. I saw it earlier, there are still bloodstains on you. You haven't been able to take a shower lately, aren't you uncomfortable?"
Since I'd already seen it this morning, I felt no qualms about giving him a bath now.
He chuckled and was about to make his move.
Zhou Xiye quickly pulled the blanket up: "No need, I'll have Li Zhuo help me wipe it later."
Jiang Zhizhi refused: "That won't do. Li Zhuo can't see your body either. Men should keep their distance from each other."
As she spoke, she forcefully pulled Zhou Xiye's hand over and wiped it for him, carefully wiping each finger.
Zhou Xiye couldn't argue with Jiang Zhizhi, and he was afraid that pulling too hard would hurt her arm, so he could only let her do as she pleased.
Jiang Zhizhi held his fingers, opened his palm, wiped it with a towel, and then couldn't help but run her fingertips across his palm a few times.
Zhou Xiye frowned, about to speak, when he heard Jiang Zhizhi say in a serious tone, "I can read palms. Your palm lines are truly exceptionally good. You will marry a very smart and beautiful wife, have a lovely child, and live a long and healthy life."
He paused for a moment, then continued, "However, when you are thirty-two, you will face a calamity. If you listen to your wife, you can avoid this calamity and live a peaceful and safe old age."
Zhou Xiye listened to her rambling again, but he didn't find it annoying. Instead, each sentence was like a painting, forming a concrete image in his mind.
A smile flickered in her eyes; she made up a story but didn't forget to brag a little.
Jiang Zhizhi held his hand, looked up at him, her eyes bright and earnest: "Then tell me, can I ask for a reward?"
Zhou Xiye was caught off guard: "What kind of reward do you want?"
