Chapter 144 Mother-in-law Complains
Suppressing her displeasure, Chen Limin replied in a calm tone, "No."
Fang Hua thought for a moment and nodded: "That's fine then. We've known each other for so many years, so don't get angry because of something I said. In a few days, when Xiye's leg injury is a little better, I'm thinking of holding a wedding for them. You guys have to come then."
Jiang Zhizhi was slightly surprised; how come she knew nothing about holding a belated wedding?
Chen Limin nodded stiffly: "Don't worry, this is a joyous occasion, we will definitely go."
She was furious inside. Her son had already had a baby, but they hadn't held a wedding banquet or even returned to the compound. She had truly hardened her heart and broken ties with her family.
To make matters worse, Fang Hua went and poked at her lungs by making her attend Zhou Xiye's wedding. Wasn't that just showing off?
Fang Hua was satisfied and turned to take Jiang Zhizhi's hand: "Tell Mom what you like later, and we'll buy it for you. A girl only gets married once in her life, so we can't let her suffer."
Jiang Zhizhi knew she was deliberately trying to annoy Chen Limin behind her, so she smiled and played along, saying, "Thank you, Mom."
Chen Limin was furious, but she could only hold back. What could she do? Her son was such a disappointment!
After the car started moving, Fang Hua chatted with Qiu Shuyan for a bit more, subtly mentioning that Zhou Xiye was getting married and that she was very satisfied with Jiang Zhizhi as her daughter-in-law.
She is good-looking, young, and very polite.
Qiu Shuyan responded politely with a couple of sentences.
Even after getting off the bus, Fang Hua greeted Chen Limin warmly before leaving with Jiang Zhizhi.
Chen Limin was furious, but she couldn't really start a fight, so she could only grumble to Qiu Shuyan: "Fang Hua, what's she so proud of! What's Jiang Zhizhi's reputation in the hospital? She's acting all high and mighty."
Qiu Shuyan frowned: "Alright, Jiang Zhizhi's reputation is not good, but didn't you also have your own selfish motives, wanting your Song Man to marry Zhou Xiye? Now that Zhou Xiye is married, you can't swallow this anger, so you provoked him first."
Chen Limin got even angrier: "What's wrong with my Xiaoman? She's a hundred times better than Jiang Zhizhi, that bastard with no known origin."
Qiu Shuyan didn't say anything; she didn't want to get involved in their messy affairs.
...
Fang Hua took Jiang Zhizhi to the Dongfeng Market in Wangfujing. It was a very large market with everything available there.
Even though it wasn't a day off, it was still very crowded, bustling and lively.
Jiang Zhizhi didn't really want to buy anything, but Fang Hua dragged her to buy a thick cotton coat, a sweater, and pants.
Finally, I bought two pounds of colorful candies without any packaging for Jiang Zhizhi: "There will be many children coming to visit in a couple of days, so please remember to give these candies to them."
Jiang Zhizhi followed Fang Hua, carrying her things and responding.
Fang Hua took a few steps, glanced back at Jiang Zhizhi, and took the bag from her right hand: "Alright, I'll carry it."
Jiang Zhizhi smiled and raised the corners of her mouth. Fang Hua was actually a little awkwardly cute. He knew that her arm was injured and wanted to care about her, but he was unwilling to say it outright.
It was already noon when they came out of the market. Fang Hua checked the time: "The bus back won't leave for another two hours. Let's grab something to eat first. There's a restaurant in the back that has pretty good steamed buns. Let's go buy some."
Jiang Zhizhi nodded in agreement, and when she looked up, she saw two men standing across the street, one of whom was pushing a bicycle. The two men looked furtive.
After observing for a few seconds, I had an idea.
She pushed the things in her hand into Fang Hua's arms and said, "Mom, you take these first, I have something to take care of."
After saying that, he ran across the street.
She would recognize these two men even if they were reduced to ashes; they were the two men who framed her in Qingquan Village!
The two men were still looking around, searching for a target, hoping to sell some of the tickets they had.
Upon noticing Jiang Zhizhi rushing towards them, the two paused for a moment, then abandoned their bicycles and started to run.
They naturally recognized Jiang Zhizhi, and they vividly remembered being beaten up by her.
Unfortunately, before they could run away, Jiang Zhizhi had already reached them, kicked the bicycle, knocking down the thin man holding the handlebars and almost causing the other man to fall as well.
Before the two could react, Jiang Zhizhi had already swiftly thrown one of them over her shoulder, then turned and kicked the person who was trying to get up in the stomach.
Fang Hua, carrying a pile of things, froze for a moment, then quickly ran over: "Zhizhi... what are you doing?!"
Jiang Zhizhi quickly piled the two of them together, then used her bicycle to weigh them down, glaring at them with furious eyes: "Back to Beijing? Didn't expect me to be back too, did you?!"
The two men's faces turned bright red: "You... let go, what do you want to do? I don't even know you."
Jiang Zhizhi chuckled: "Don't you recognize me now? You really don't recognize me?"
Then he turned and waved to the patrolling police officers who were coming this way: "Comrade, comrade, look! These two are thieves!"
The police rushed over upon hearing the noise, and ran even faster when they heard it was a thief.
The two men struggled, saying, "No, we're not thieves, we were just passing by!"
Two or three police officers came over and handcuffed the two men.
Jiang Zhizhi stepped aside and pointed at them: "Comrade, if you don't believe me, search their pockets. They stole a lot of things."
She was so certain because the two men had been looking at each other cautiously and warily, and one of them had been secretly peeking into his pocket.
The two men cried out that they were innocent, but the police ignored them and first searched one of their pockets, finding all sorts of coupons: grain coupons, meat coupons, industrial coupons, as well as sugar coupons and watch coupons.
Who's the kind person who carries so many tickets when they go out?
The same applies to the other one.
The two men turned ashen-faced and were too frightened to speak.
One of them, trembling, admitted: "Officer, we are all first-time offenders. This is our first day stealing on the street."
The police officer sneered, "Do you think we're fools? With so many votes, you're probably just up to speculation."
With a cold face: "Take them all away!"
The two were swiftly taken away.
Jiang Zhizhi was thinking of going with him, but Fang Huateng grabbed her arm and said, "What are you going to do? You're a young lady, why are you being so impulsive?"
Jiang Zhizhi has only found them; she hasn't gotten what she wants yet.
This was a busy downtown area, so she had no choice but to hand the two men over to the police.
Fang Hua never expected Jiang Zhizhi to fight, let alone fight so fiercely. He frowned and said, "Zhizhi, you can't do this again. You're a girl, you should act like one. What kind of girl goes out and fights in the street? Even if the perpetrators are bad guys, someone will take care of them. What kind of image would it be if people saw this?"
Jiang Zhizhi touched her ears as she listened, but in her heart she was thinking, how could she possibly go looking for the two of them again?
Fang Hua said a few words, then took Jiang Zhizhi to eat steamed buns, and after eating the buns, they went home.
On the way back, I kept thinking that I must have a good talk with Zhou Xiye when I get back. How could a girl be so reckless!
He was a little worried. Seeing how fiercely Jiang Zhizhi fought just now, he wondered if Zhou Xiye would suffer if the young couple started arguing and fighting.
He returned with a sullen face, and upon entering the room, he immediately called out to Zhou Xiye, "Xiye, come to the study with me!"
