Chapter 223 Charm

Chapter 223 Charm

The atmosphere in the class seemed to have become a bit more lively since Sun Xiaoyue joined.

Previously, everyone was busy reading books, studying, copying notes, and memorizing notes.

And now, you can often hear Sun Xiaoyue's sweet, coquettish voice: "I'm not very good at this, classmate, can you help me take a look?"

"Excuse me, how do you pronounce this character? I don't quite recognize it."

"Thank you, classmate. I'll treat you to lunch. Could I borrow your notes for a moment?"

The problem wasn't just with one person; everyone had different questions.

Jiang Zhizhi sat in her seat and glanced at Sun Xiaoyue, who was wearing a red cotton coat and running around the room like a butterfly. Sun Xiaoyue was already dark-skinned, and the red coat made her look even darker. She also had to speak in a high-pitched voice.

The students who were asked the questions, whether out of embarrassment or genuine affection for Sun Xiaoyue, answered them all patiently.

Ge Qinghua frowned as she looked at it. Whose time isn't precious? Wasn't she wasting other people's time?

At lunchtime, Sun Xiaoyue took out two of the largest aluminum lunchboxes and looked at the students around her with a smile: "I brought a lot of dishes and rice, do you want to eat with me?"

He placed the lunchbox on the desk, opened the lid, and found one lunchbox filled with rice and another with braised pork and radish, which had cooled down and was covered with a layer of white lard, but it still looked delicious.

We all came from ordinary backgrounds and could only afford to eat meat once a year during festivals.

Normally, I'm reluctant to use too much lard, so where would I find such a large portion of braised pork?

Some people looked over curiously, but no one went over to eat.

Sun Xiaoyue smiled and said, "I brought this for everyone to eat. This braised pork is cold. You wait here, I'll go heat it up on the gatekeeper's stove."

As he spoke, he ran out carrying a box of braised pork.

Several classmates were already whispering among themselves, feeling that although Sun Xiaoyue was a child from the compound, she had no airs at all.

Jiang Zhizhi was a bit far from Sun Xiaoyue. Watching her mysterious actions, she took out her lunchbox, opened it, glanced at it, and quickly closed it again. What Fang Hua had brought her was a baked bun with beef inside.

This tastes good, but it's not appropriate to eat it in the classroom.

I put it in my backpack and planned to eat it on my way to find Jin Huaiying.

Seeing Jiang Zhizhi stuffing all her books into her schoolbag, Ge Qinghua asked, "Are you going out again at noon?"

Jiang Zhizhi nodded: "I have something to take care of. If I'm late this afternoon, please ask for leave for me."

Ge Qinghua agreed: "Okay, be careful in a bit."

After exchanging a few words, Jiang Zhizhi, carrying her schoolbag, prepared to leave. Ahead of her, a girl was carrying a mug of hot water and walked out, so she slowed down.

Sun Xiaoyue suddenly rushed in carrying a box of bubbling braised pork in a towel. The girl carrying a teacup didn't notice and the two bumped into each other.

A plate of braised pork was spilled all over the girl, but luckily it was winter and she was wearing thick clothes so she wasn't burned.

Some hot soup splashed onto Sun Xiaoyue's hands. She exclaimed in surprise, threw down the lunchbox, covered her wrist, and looked at the girl opposite her with tears in her eyes: "I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to. Did I burn you?"

The girl was a little confused. Although she wasn't burned, the front of her clothes was covered in a layer of oil.

Braised pork and radish spilled all over the floor, and oil splattered onto her shoes and trouser legs.

Seeing that Sun Xiaoyue was about to cry, the girl quickly said, "It's okay, it's okay."

She felt uncomfortable, though, because her cotton-padded coat was a new one made this year.

Such a large clump of oil stain definitely can't be washed off.

Sun Xiaoyue looked pitiful with tears in her eyes: "I didn't mean to. I'll make you a cotton coat later. It's all my fault. The lunchbox was too hot, and I couldn't hold it."

A man walked over and asked Sun Xiaoyue with concern, "Your wrist and the back of your hand are burned red. You need to get it treated quickly."

Sun Xiaoyue turned her head, tears clinging to her eyelashes, threatening to fall, her voice delicate and fragile: "I won't..."

The man was stunned, then reached out and grabbed Sun Xiaoyue's arm: "First, rinse it with cold water, then wrap ice cubes in a handkerchief and apply it as a cold compress."

As he spoke, he led Sun Xiaoyue outside and called two more people to clean up the ground.

It's a shame to throw away braised pork like this; pick it up, wash it, and it's still edible.

Jiang Zhizhi saw it all clearly from the side and couldn't help but be surprised. The one who stood up just now was Cheng Feng, who had gotten the highest score in the class this time!

He's in his early thirties, I don't know if he's married or not. He's usually quiet and has a bookish look. He joined a study group, but he still rarely speaks.

They actually stepped forward so kindly!

Sun Xiaoyue is quite charming.

...

After watching the commotion, Jiang Zhizhi quickly ran to find Jin Huaiying.

Because of the heavy snow, Jin Huaiying left home early and returned early as well. Right now, she's busy preparing lunch inside the house.

Because of the stir-fried chili peppers, the door was open, and a pungent fumes drifted out of the house.

Jiang Zhizhi sneezed twice while standing at the door, covering her nose as she watched Jin Huaiying stir-fry chili peppers. There was no oil in the pan; she just poured in a handful of dried chili peppers and stir-fried them, then poured in a ladle of cold water.

Jin Huaiying put the lid on the pot before looking up: "You're blocking the light."

Jiang Zhizhi immediately obeyed and went inside, going around to the other side of Jin Huaiying: "Teacher, where is your hometown? How can you eat so many chili peppers?"

Jin Huaiying glanced at her: "It's no use you coming again..."

Before he could finish speaking, Jiang Zhizhi interrupted, "I have something else to discuss with you today. Do you remember what I told you about this strange poison that causes bumps all over the hands, like toads? They can't be detected in tests, and now it's spreading to the wrists, covering the entire wrist area with bumps. It looks terrifying..."

Jin Huaiying's eyes were fixed on the white smoke rising from the pot, but her ears were listening intently to Jiang Zhizhi's words.

Seeing that Jin Huaiying didn't interrupt her, Jiang Zhizhi continued, "This poison is very strange, and we don't know how it was contracted. When we asked the patient, he didn't know either. Teacher Jin, what if this poison was soaked in a bag and then touched by a hand, and many days passed before the poisoning was discovered?"

Jin Huaiying blurted out instinctively, "No, unless you ate something else that accelerated the development of toxins that irritate the skin."

Jiang Zhizhi exclaimed, "Is it not allowed to touch it with bare hands?"

Jin Huaiying pushed up her glasses: "If the toxicity is this strong, it will react very quickly after contact with the hand, so it's impossible to use it for many days."

Jiang Zhizhi grinned: "Thank you, Teacher Jin. I knew you knew a lot. Do you know how to detoxify?"

Jin Huaiying frowned and ignored her. She opened the pot lid, grabbed a handful of slightly blackened dried noodles and threw them into the pot. After cooking for a while, she grabbed a handful of cabbage leaves and threw them in as well.

As Jiang Zhizhi watched Jin Huaiying scoop rice into a large enamel bowl, she whispered, "Teacher Jin, I didn't have lunch either..."

Jin Huaiying paused, then turned to look at Jiang Zhizhi: "Can you really swallow this?"
