Chapter 262 Sweet and Happy
Jiang Zhizhi didn't think much of it, assuming that Zhou Xiye was worried that he would be thirsty in the middle of the night after drinking alcohol.
While Zhou Xiye was helping to clear the table and serve the dishes, she took a kettle of water to boil.
A fire was lit in the stove, and the food on the table was steaming. Under the dim light, the atmosphere was warm and cozy.
Jiang Zhizhi sat next to Zhou Xiye, watching him drink with his eldest uncle Fang Guomin and third uncle Fang Guozheng, while occasionally putting food on Liangliang's plate next to her.
Zhou Xiye wasn't good at drinking. After a few drinks, his face and neck turned red, and his slightly dark skin turned reddish-black.
The sleeves were rolled up at the elbows, revealing smooth forearm muscles and slightly bulging veins on the back of the hands that stretched down to the forearms, exuding a strong sense of sexual tension.
Jiang Zhizhi would steal a glance every now and then, then listen to her two uncles chatting with Zhou Xiye.
Zhou Xiye was a man of few words, only occasionally offering his own opinions, and most of the time he nodded in agreement with the two elders.
Fang Guomin finally advised Zhou Xiye: "People who are too rigid are easily broken, so sometimes you have to take things less seriously. Besides, if you want to go further in the future, you really should train for a few more years."
"The grassroots level is where you can truly hone your skills. Don't listen to your parents and stay in Beijing. If you stay in Beijing, I'm telling you, you can see your entire future laid out before you even realize it."
"Why? Because Beijing has too many intricate and intertwined relationships."
Zhou Xiye paused for a moment: "I don't want to reach any particular position. I just want to do some things that I should be doing at my age."
Fang Guomin gave a thumbs up, his tongue slurred from drinking too much, and turned to look at Fang Hua: "Nishino is right! I said back then that Nishino is a tough guy who knows what he should do, so you should support him."
"If everyone thought like you, who would protect the country? When you're a soldier, bloodshed and sacrifice are normal..."
Cong Meilan quickly stuffed a piece of steamed bun into his mouth: "Alright, say less. We will definitely support Xiye."
Fang Hua paused for a moment and said, "Yes, the path they have chosen is bright and positive. We should not be stumbling blocks on their way forward."
Fang Guomin slammed his hand on the table: "Yes! That's the right way to think... Let me tell you..."
Cong Meilan frowned: "Alright, alright, stop listening to you. It's so late, go to sleep. Xiye has to go back to school early tomorrow morning, and you and Lao San have to go to work."
Then she called out to Liao Juan, "Liao Juan, help the third brother back to rest. Zhizhi, you two go back to your room to rest too. Your mother and I will take care of the rest."
Jiang Zhizhi obediently accompanied Zhou Xiye back to the house. Seeing that he was walking normally, she helped him lie down on the bed and said, "You rest for a while. I'll go help Mom and Auntie tidy up."
Then she thought Zhou Xiye, who was lying down obediently, looked a little adorably dazed with unfocused eyes. She leaned over, cupped his face, and kissed him: "I'm going now. You rest well."
She went to help wash the dishes, but Fang Hua and Liao Juan both disagreed: "You should go wash up and rest. You have school tomorrow."
Jiang Zhizhi felt embarrassed: "It's okay, it's only right that I wash the dishes while you cook."
Liao Juan stopped her, saying, "Sweetie, go back to your room and rest. Your mother and I still have things to talk about. I don't have time during the day because I'm at work, but I'm free now. Go to sleep."
Jiang Zhizhi had no choice but to get a basin and a bucket of water and go back to the house to wash up.
She entered the room, and Zhou Xiye, who had been resting on the bed, was standing by the stove, filling a hot water bottle with a kettle.
The fire was blazing, and Zhou Xiye, feeling hot after drinking, took off his shirt and wore a white vest with the August 1st logo, which made his broad shoulders and narrow waist even more noticeable.
Jiang Zhizhi exclaimed "Huh?" and put down the bucket to go over: "Why did you get up? I thought you wanted hot water. I'll fill it up for you."
Zhou Xiye turned his head and looked down at Jiang Zhizhi, who was standing close to him. She had red lips and white teeth, a beautiful smile, and bright eyes like stars in the sky.
A sudden surge of desire, greater than usual, welled up within her. She swallowed hard and said, "It's alright, go wash up first, I'll be done soon."
Jiang Zhizhi didn't think much of it. After all, it wasn't their own home, and they hadn't prepared anything. Even though Zhou Xiye was aroused last night, he just held her tightly.
After washing up, she changed the water in Zhou Xiye's basin: "You wash your face, I'll soak my feet."
Jiang Zhizhi sat on the edge of the bed, soaking her feet and reading a book. She could hear the sound of water splashing, but she didn't pay much attention to it.
It wasn't until Zhou Xiye sat down next to her that two more feet appeared in the basin, and the book in her hand was taken away.
Jiang Zhizhi turned her head and looked at Zhou Xiye, who was sitting close to her, with some surprise: "I'm reading a book. I haven't finished my memorization for today."
As she spoke, she playfully stomped on the back of his foot.
Zhou Xiye stared down at her, his breath carrying a faint smell of alcohol.
Jiang Zhizhi had other thoughts on her mind, but fortunately Zhou Xiye didn't smoke and the alcohol he drank wasn't very strong, so there was a faint smell of alcohol, which smelled quite nice.
Zhou Xiye suddenly reached out and stroked her neck, gently pinching the soft flesh on her neck: "Zhizhi, I'm going to school tomorrow, and I might not be back until the New Year."
Jiang Zhizhi's eyes widened: "I know, there are only twenty-odd days left until the New Year... We'll be able to meet soon."
Zhou Xiye lowered his head, his nose brushing against her cheek, his tone surprisingly coquettish: "I'll miss you terribly in the next twenty-odd days."
Jiang Zhizhi was stunned for a moment, then couldn't help but smile. Zhou Xiye must be drunk, otherwise he would never have said he missed her. She leaned over and kissed the corner of his lips: "I'll miss you too. I'll come see you whenever I have time off, okay?"
Zhou Xiye held the back of her head to stop her from moving, then lowered his head and kissed her.
It was unlike any of the fierce and hurried kisses I'd ever given before.
This time he was very gentle, as if he was savoring a dessert but couldn't bear to swallow it whole.
He even used a deep and pleasant voice to call out "Zhizhi" in her ear over and over again, asking if she liked him or not.
Considering the lack of small balloons, I ultimately refrained from doing so.
But except for the last step, everything that needed to be done had been done.
It's even more outrageous than before!
Jiang Zhizhi finally thought that if Zhou Xiye drank again next time, she would definitely stay far away from him.
After drinking, Zhou Xiye looked like an innocent little rabbit, but he was actually a wolf, fierce and greedy, and almost left not even a bone fragment.
Although I was very sleepy, my biological clock still woke me up on time.
Jiang Zhizhi squinted at Zhou Xiye as he fumbled to get dressed in the dark, and muttered, "Leaving so early?"
Hearing the sound, Zhou Xiye leaned over and kissed the corner of her lips: "Hmm, you can make it to morning exercises. You can rest for a while longer. I set your alarm for 7:30. The alarm clock is on the bedside table."
Jiang Zhizhi gave an "oh" and then closed her eyes and drifted off to sleep again.
After Zhou Xiye closed the door and went out to talk to Fang Hua and the others in the yard, she instantly woke up again. She wanted to get up, but she was reluctant to leave the warmth of the quilt, so she decided to stay in bed a little longer.
Before the alarm clock rang, Zhou Chengzhi's voice could be heard in the yard again: "Sister-in-law, where is Fang Hua?"
