Chapter 374 Tense Situation

Chapter 374 Tense Situation

Jiang Zhizhi received a call from the hospital saying there was an emergency and she needed to go there.

After hanging up the phone, Jiang Zhizhi was still a little puzzled. What kind of illness would require her to be called and told to come over immediately?

Fang Hua was also nearby. Seeing Jiang Zhizhi put down the phone, he quickly said, "Are you going to the hospital now? Don't ride your bike, I'll call a car for you."

Jiang Zhizhi didn't refuse, knowing that she wouldn't make it in time if she rode her bike there, so she watched Fang Hua make a phone call.

Fang Hua was quite puzzled after hanging up the phone: "Aren't there any other doctors at the hospital? Didn't you just work the night shift a couple of days ago?"

Jiang Zhizhi pondered for a moment: "It's probably because the patient is quite difficult to treat, so it would be more convenient for me to go over there."

Fang Hua didn't believe it: "Many doctors live in the hospital's staff quarters. It's less than a five-minute walk there, while it takes us twenty minutes to drive there."

Jiang Zhizhi smiled and reassured Fang Hua, "It's alright, I'll go check on him. Besides, someone will take me, and it's at the hospital, so nothing will happen."

Fang Hua was skeptical, but Zhou Chengzhi wasn't home, and she had no authority to send another guard to accompany Jiang Zhizhi.

The car arrived quickly, and Jiang Zhizhi got to the hospital in less than twenty minutes.

She ran to the emergency operating room, where a nurse was already waiting at the door. When she saw Jiang Zhizhi coming, she followed her into the office next to the operating room and said, "The patient's condition is very dangerous, and they specifically requested that you perform the surgery."

Jiang Zhizhi asked in surprise, "Who is it? They specifically asked for me?"

She seems to be someone important. If she were an ordinary person, even if they asked, they wouldn't bother to call her over.

The nurse revealed her identity: "The wife of the Minister of Commerce."

Jiang Zhizhi was stunned for a moment. While asking the nurse to help her change into her surgical gown, she inquired about Bian Suxi's condition.

They never expected that their next meeting would be in the operating room. However, when they arrived, they didn't see Shang Shiyi at the door.

Bian Suxi's health has never been very good. The fire also caused serious damage to her internal organs, especially her lungs. This surgery will remove a lobe of her lung.

Many doctors at the hospital could perform this surgery, but given Shang Shiyi's status, the hospital would send its best doctor.

Instead of her, a newly graduated doctor.

Also, how could such a surgery suddenly require an emergency room visit?

The surgery was not difficult and was performed quickly.

After the surgery was successfully completed, Jiang Zhizhi came out and saw Shang Shiyi standing at the door of the ward.

Several years had passed since I last saw Shang Shiyi, and his hair was almost completely white. He had become much thinner, yet appeared even more dignified. One could imagine that the pressure he faced abroad, coupled with the international situation, had accelerated his aging process.

For some reason, Jiang Zhizhi felt a lump in her throat and her eyes reddened when she saw Shang Shiyi. She forced a smile at him and said, "The surgery was a success."

Shang Shiyi nodded, his gaze softening, but having been strict for so long, even his gentleness carried an air of authority: "Good child, thank you for your hard work."

The hospital director was also waiting nearby, bowing slightly to Shang Shiyi and whispering, "Minister Shang, go to the lounge and rest for a while. Madam won't wake up until tomorrow morning. Once the critical period has passed, she can be moved to the VIP ward."

Shang Shiyi nodded, then looked at Jiang Zhizhi: "Let's go to the lounge together."

Jiang Zhizhi smiled and followed Shang Shiyi to the lounge.

The dean knew Jiang Zhizhi's identity, but he didn't expect that she seemed to be quite familiar with Shang Shiyi, and that Shang Shiyi's eyes showed a kind of affection when he saw Jiang Zhizhi.

love?

The dean was puzzled. He knew that Shang Shiyi had a son, but no daughter.

However, it is quite possible that these high-ranking individuals know each other, after all, the fact that Jiang Zhizhi gave birth to a child could alarm half of the compound.

He politely accompanied the two into the meeting room, and before he could say anything more, Shang Shiyi interrupted, "Dr. Jiang and I have a few words to say."

Before he could finish speaking, the dean understood and quickly nodded, "Okay, you two talk first, I'll go make the arrangements."

After leaving the meeting room, he thoughtfully closed the door behind him, where Shang Shiyi's secretary and bodyguards stood.

Inside the reception room, Jiang Zhizhi looked at Shang Shiyi with tears welling up in her eyes. She knew the pressure Shang Shiyi had faced abroad over the years, as well as the pressure he would face in the future, which was why she felt even more sorry for him.

Shang Shiyi took a few steps closer, stopped in front of Jiang Zhizhi, and reached out to pat the top of her head: "I heard about it when I came back. You are very outstanding and a remarkable child."

Jiang Zhizhi curved her lips into a smile, wanting to laugh, but unable to.

Shang Shiyi smiled and said, "I originally planned to come back after a while, but some unexpected things happened. Your mother is staying in the country this time because of her health. I will be going out again in a few days."

Jiang Zhizhi asked in surprise, "So fast? Wasn't your term over?"

Shang Shiyi shook his head: "The international situation is tense right now, with wolves all around us. We can't be careless. I can't keep your mother with me all the time either, it's too dangerous. So, Zhizhi, from now on, I'm entrusting my mother to you."

Jiang Zhizhi quickly nodded: "Okay, I can do it. I'm sure I can take good care of her."

Shang Shiyi felt somewhat guilty: "Your mother and I owe you a lot and have always wanted to make it up to you, but I'm afraid we need you even more and we can't make it up to you."

Jiang Zhizhi clearly understood Shang Shiyi's thoughts: "Dad, neither you nor Mom owe me anything. You had no choice but to abandon me. Besides, I've never suffered since I was a child, and my in-laws treat me very well now."

She had so much more to say, but she didn't know where to begin.

She understood Shang Shiyi and Bian Suxi's predicament, their hardships over the years, and the heavy responsibility that Shang Shiyi bore.

Shang Shiyi was taken aback, not expecting Jiang Zhizhi to call him "Dad," even though everyone tacitly understood their relationship.

But he also knew that it was actually a difficult situation to make Jiang Zhizhi, who was already an adult, call them Mom and Dad.

After a moment of stunned silence, his eyes reddened, and he reached out to squeeze Jiang Zhizhi's shoulder: "Good child, your mother will be very happy when she wakes up."

“We could have had the surgery tomorrow, but because of the special circumstances, we chose to have it done tonight. Your mother insisted that you have the surgery, and we heard that you have never performed a surgery on your own before.”

Bian Suxi insisted that Jiang Zhizhi perform the surgery, wanting to give her daughter a chance to gain experience.

Jiang Zhizhi understood that it was only because she was bold enough, and also because there were expert doctors watching over her.

Shang Shiyi was still very pleased: "Zhizhi, you are more outstanding and stronger than we thought. I hope your future path will become wider and wider."

As she spoke, her eyes reddened even more. Such a wonderful daughter, yet they hadn't raised her for a single day and had missed so much of her growth.

Jiang Zhizhi didn't know how to comfort Shang Shiyi, so she suddenly reached out and hugged him.

Shang Shiyi was stunned for a moment before reaching out to hug his daughter. In his mind, he wondered if his daughter had been like this when she was little, often rushing into his arms and acting spoiled.
