Chapter 474 An Accidental Opportunity
Jiang Zhizhi quickly carried Shangshang to the bedroom, lay down with her, touched her forehead and checked her pulse, both of which were normal.
The little girl fell asleep almost instantly. She rolled over and nestled in Jiang Zhizhi's arms, her little hands clutching her mother's clothes, her little legs draped over her mother's body, and she slept soundly, snoring away.
I slept just like usual, nothing unusual.
Zhou Xiye sat on the edge of the bed, holding his daughter Xiao Zhouji in his arms. Looking at his daughter's rosy face, he was also worried: "Are you alright? Should we go to the hospital?"
Jiang Zhizhi shook her head: "We can't get any results from the hospital. Let's take another look. Shangshang is fine right now, she's just fast asleep."
Fang Hua and Zhou Chengyu returned from burning mugwort outside, their clothes still smelling of it. Standing by the bed, they asked worriedly, "Should we secretly go find a shaman?"
Zhou Chengyu agreed: "I heard there's someone who's exceptionally good at this."
Jiang Zhizhi shook her head: "Let's wait and see how Shang Shang is when she wakes up from her nap."
She believed in these things, after all, her soul traveled back and forth, but subconsciously she felt that Shang Shang's illness had nothing to do with this, but was related to the snake meat she ate.
Because of Shang Shang, the whole family was not in the mood for dinner and all gathered in Jiang Zhizhi's bedroom, watching the little girl sleep.
Seeing that her older sister was sleeping and wouldn't eat, Xiao Zhou lay down next to Shang Shang, rolled around for a while, and then fell asleep too.
Shang Shiying hadn't seen Shangshang and Xiao Zhouji all afternoon. After dinner, she brought Shen Luojia over and was shocked to learn that Shangshang was sick.
After Fang Hua finished recounting the details in a low voice, he couldn't help but frown: "So that's why you asked Luo Jia if she was alright. It turns out it was Shang Shang who wasn't feeling well."
Shen Luojia naturally understood that Shangshang was sick, and went to ask Jiang Zhizhi, "Shangshang is sick? Where does Shangshang feel unwell?"
Jiang Zhizhi patiently explained to Shen Luojia, "We don't know the reason yet. Shangshang said she didn't feel unwell, just very sleepy. Did you feel unwell after eating snake meat last night?"
Shen Luojia shook her head: "No, I ate a lot today too."
Shang Shiying nodded: "Yes, Luo Jia didn't react. She steamed buns for dinner and ate five of them."
My appetite is good, my spirits are high, and there's no difference from usual.
Jiang Zhizhi pondered for a moment: "Give me your hand, I'll take your pulse."
Shen Luojia sat down and obediently offered her hand to Jiang Zhizhi.
Jiang Zhizhi was surprised to find that Shen Luojia's pulse was much clearer and stronger than before, as if a lot of the toxins in her body had been cleared.
This made her a little unsure, so she calmed down and took Shen Luojia's pulse again.
This time it's confirmed that Shen Luojia is getting better. Could it be that eating snake meat helped control the poison in her body?
She had no clue herself, so she kept quiet and said with a smile, "Luojia's health is very good, there's no problem at all."
Shang Shiying smiled and said, "Seeing how energetic she is every day, you can tell she's in good health."
After waiting for another two hours with Shen Luojia, Shangshang still hadn't woken up. Instead, Xiao Zhouji got up, rubbing his stomach and saying he was hungry.
Fang Hua carried Xiao Zhouji out and asked Sister Chen to heat up some food.
Seeing that it was getting late, Jiang Zhizhi told everyone to go back and rest, while she and Zhou Xiye would stay and watch over Shang Shang.
He comforted everyone, saying, "Shangshang is fine, she'll be alright after a good night's sleep. You all go back and rest."
Shang Shiying was still worried, but she also knew that leaving Shen Luojia with the Zhou family would only make them more anxious. She planned to take Shen Luojia back to wait for news, and kept telling Jiang Zhizhi, "If Shang Shang wakes up, be sure to call me as soon as possible."
...
Jiang Zhizhi and Zhou Xiye didn't sleep all night, staying by Shang Shang's side.
Zhou Xiye was even more worried, so he would put his hand under his daughter's nose from time to time, and lean down to put his ear to her chest to listen carefully.
Jiang Zhizhi whispered to her, "Don't be nervous. I don't think this is necessarily a bad thing. Didn't I say before that Luo Jia's body was poisoned? But when I took her pulse, her symptoms had disappeared a lot."
"I suspect it's all related to them eating snake meat. Shang Shang is very healthy, which is why she's drowsy, while Luo Jia has toxins in her body, so it's good for her."
Zhou Xiye became even more nervous upon hearing this: "Won't it harm Shangshang?"
Jiang Zhizhi shook her head: "It shouldn't be. Right now, it's just numbing her body, which is why she's drowsy. She'll be fine after a good night's sleep. I guess Shangshang's health will improve in the future."
Zhou Xiye was worried and kept a close eye on his daughter until dawn, afraid that if he looked away for even a moment, something might happen.
Fang Hua also couldn't sleep all night. Around 7 a.m., he couldn't help but go downstairs to check on Shang Shang. He saw Shang Shang sprawled out, fast asleep, her little face rosy and her forehead slightly sweaty.
He asked in a low voice, "What's wrong? Are you still not awake?"
Jiang Zhizhi shook her head: "No..."
Before she could finish speaking, Shangshang scrambled to her feet, rubbed her eyes, and called out to her mother, "Mommy, I need to pee, I can't hold it anymore!"
Jiang Zhizhi quickly carried the little girl to the toilet.
Fang Hua breathed a sigh of relief and smiled, "This little girl is really scary. Look how loud her voice was when she called for her mother just now."
Hurry up and go out to call Sister Chen, and prepare breakfast for the two children.
Jiang Zhizhi carried Shangshang to the toilet. The little girl had slept well and was in good spirits, chattering away: "Mommy, Shangshang is so hungry, Shangshang wants to eat meat."
"You're having meat for breakfast? How about for lunch?"
Jiang Zhizhi smiled and coaxed the little girl, who was fussing about eating, which meant she was completely healed.
Shangshang shook her little head to indicate no: "No, I want to eat meat, Shangshang's tummy is so hungry."
Jiang Zhizhi smiled and then took Shang Shang to wash her face and brush her teeth.
When I came out of the bathroom, everyone was waiting in the living room, including Shang Shiying and Bian Suxi.
Fang Hua hugged Shang Shang and said, "You little rascal, you scared Grandma to death. Grandma didn't dare to sleep all night."
Shang Shang was still unaware of why she had frightened her grandmother. She giggled, hugged Fang Hua's neck, and pointed to the kitchen, wanting to eat meat.
Fang Hua hadn't cooked any meat all morning, so he coaxed Shang Shang, "I'll cook meat for Shang Shang at noon, and we'll have steamed buns for breakfast, okay?"
"Boil two more eggs."
Shang Shang immediately nodded her little head: "Okay, I'll eat two eggs."
As she spoke, she gestured with her little hands, intending to hold up two fingers, but accidentally held up three.
It made everyone laugh, and they were even happier to see that the little girl was alright.
During the meal, Shang Shiying and Bian Suxi were still discussing what was wrong with Shang Shang.
Zhou Chengyu was quite convinced that Shangshang had offended something unclean: "It seems that we should let the two children go out less at night in the future. They are still too young and are prone to encountering unclean things."
Shang Shiying was starting to believe it: "But that shouldn't be the case. We're in a compound, and the logistics and security guards are all young men with plenty of yang energy."
Shangshang suddenly looked up and said in her childish voice, "Mommy, I had a dream. I dreamt of an old man with a white beard..."
