Chapter 490 Curing the Illness
Li Simin, fearing Shang Shiying would worry, said, "It's nothing, it's just that Luo Jia hasn't been eating well these past few days, so we're taking her to the hospital for a checkup."
Shang Shiying didn't think much of it: "Okay, it's good to get checked out. Be careful on the way."
The snow outside has stopped, but because it's not cold enough, much of the snow has melted on the ground.
Li Simin and Shen Luojia took a car to the hospital.
It was cold and snowing, and there were far fewer people at the hospital.
Jiang Zhizhi had just finished her work and was somewhat surprised to see Li Simin bringing Shen Luojia over: "Huh? What brings you to the hospital to see me?"
Li Simin pulled Shen Luojia down to sit: "Zhizhi, you're right, she's doing well now. But she definitely wants to become a better person."
Jiang Zhizhi hadn't seen Shen Luojia for the past two days and thought Li Simin could easily coax her back to normal. Now, seeing that Shen Luojia seemed to have lost some weight, she asked, "What happened? Has your sister-in-law not been eating properly these past two days?"
Li Simin nodded: "I haven't been eating properly these past two days."
Jiang Zhizhi smiled at Shen Luojia: "Why don't you want to eat? Is your stomach upset, or what?"
Shen Luojia hesitated, pursing her lips, unsure how to tell Jiang Zhizhi.
Jiang Zhizhi glanced at Li Simin: "Brother Simin, why don't you go out for a walk first? I'll talk to my sister-in-law."
Li Simin noticed Shen Luojia's hesitation and gently patted her shoulder: "You chat with Zhizhi, I'll go out and see if there are any roasted sweet potatoes for sale."
After Li Simin left, Jiang Zhizhi closed the door and sat down opposite Shen Luojia: "Now, can you tell me what happened?"
Shen Luojia frowned: "I don't want to be a fool anymore."
He then briefly recounted the events of that evening to Jiang Zhizhi.
Jiang Zhizhi was very angry: "Did you hit them?"
Shen Luojia shook her head: "No."
Jiang Zhizhi frowned: "Why? They all scolded you?"
Shen Luojia said with some grievance, "I was about to throw a punch at them, but they said I'm Li Simin's wife, and if I hit them, it would be a disgrace to Li Simin."
"Li Simin is a rare talent; it would be a disgrace for him to marry me."
"I didn't want Li Simin to lose face, so I didn't hit him."
Jiang Zhizhi didn't know who said such vicious things, but Shen Luojia had obviously chosen to back down because of Li Simin, so how could she be called stupid?
He got up and went over, bending down to hug Chen Luojia: "Luojia, don't pay them any attention. They're just jealous of you. If you encounter someone like that again, you can fight back."
Shen Luojia's voice was somewhat muffled: "Zhizhi, I am an idiot, I don't want to be an idiot anymore, can you cure my illness?"
Jiang Zhizhi's eyes were a little sore. The fact that Shen Luojia could say these words showed that she had thought about it very hard.
She truly took all those hurtful words to heart.
"Okay, let's work together to make Luojia even better."
Shen Luojia was in a better mood; she felt that Jiang Zhizhi would definitely cure her.
Once Shen Luojia had calmed down, Jiang Zhizhi continued to ask her who had said those words to her.
Shen Luojia shook her head: "Never seen it before, this is the first time I've seen it."
Jiang Zhizhi comforted her, "It's okay. Next time you see them, don't let them get away with it."
Shen Luojia nodded: "Okay."
Jiang Zhizhi didn't rush to give Shen Luojia acupuncture. Instead, she took her on a tour of the hospital and even visited the inpatient department.
After going around for a while, Li Simin also came back from outside, bringing back two hot roasted sweet potatoes.
Seeing that Shen Luojia was in good spirits, just like before, smiling and looking around with curiosity.
He asked Jiang Zhizhi, "Did she tell you?"
Jiang Zhizhi nodded: "These people in the courtyard are really annoying, always watching how other people live, worrying too much. But..."
Turning her head to look at Shen Luojia, who was smiling as she took the roasted sweet potato, she said, "My sister-in-law has become more sensitive about her feelings lately, but I can understand that. You are very important to her."
Just like back then, she was willing to listen to Shen Qingping and marry a fool for her grandmother's sake.
She knows how to yield even in front of people she cares about.
Li Simin nodded: "So I've thought it through. I realize that what's good for her isn't necessarily what she wants. Respecting her choice means deciding when the acupuncture should begin."
Jiang Zhizhi calculated the time: "Tomorrow night, I'll go there after I get off work tomorrow night. Starting a course of treatment will probably be very painful."
"We'll see how persistent she is then. If she can't stand it, we'll come up with another plan."
Li Simin nodded: "I'll go home early after get off work tomorrow too. By the way, what about the poison in her body?"
Jiang Zhizhi sighed and shook her head: "I still can't do anything, and I haven't found any relevant cases."
Li Simin didn't understand either: "I'll ask around later to see if there are any experts in this field."
Jiang Zhizhi nodded: "Okay, I've inquired around here too. Even doctors who specialize in detoxification have never seen such strange symptoms."
"After all, any poison will manifest in the blood."
While they were chatting, Shen Luojia had already peeled half of the roasted sweet potato and happily handed it to Jiang Zhizhi: "Zhizhi, you eat it."
Jiang Zhizhi accepted the invitation with a smile: "How about I treat you to lunch at the cafeteria across from the hospital later? Their door nail-shaped baked buns and mutton offal soup are quite good."
Shen Luojia exclaimed, "Great! Let's go have mutton offal soup for lunch!"
Looking at Shen Luojia's lively appearance, Li Simin still hesitated. Was it really a good thing if things continued like this?
...
Before giving Shen Luojia acupuncture, Jiang Zhizhi first had her change into a clean and loose set of clothes, and then had her lie on the bed.
Holding her hand, he asked, "Luojia, this acupuncture session will be very painful. Can you bear it?"
Shen Luojia nodded nonchalantly: "Sure, as long as it makes me smarter, I'm willing to do it."
Jiang Zhizhi wasn't actually sure if this method could help Shen Luojia recover from her damaged nerves.
She had read Jin Huaiying's notes, which recorded how pricking certain acupoints could make a mentally challenged child speak.
The only consequence is that it hurts a lot!
It is a pain that ordinary people cannot endure.
Since Teacher Jin recorded it this way, it must have been extremely painful.
Jiang Zhizhi held Shen Luojia's hand: "Sister-in-law, if it hurts too much, just tell me and we'll give up on treatment."
Shen Luojia nodded, still not paying much attention.
With the acupoint on the head, one stroke later, Shen Luojia's expression changed.
It felt like someone had split her head open; the pain made her reach out and clutch the bed sheet tightly.
He clenched his teeth tightly and didn't make a sound.
Jiang Zhizhi carefully administered the second and third injections.
While administering the acupuncture, I observed Shen Luojia's reaction. Her face was contorted in pain, and large beads of sweat dripped from her forehead, yet she remained clenched her teeth tightly.
Seeing her look over, Shen Luojia grinned and said, "It doesn't hurt."
Li Simin, who was standing to the side, couldn't bear to watch any longer and reached out to hold Shen Luojia's hand: "It's too painful, so let's not treat it."
