Chapter 575 She's Very Well-Behaved (Part 4)
Shang Shang never expected that it was Pei Yanli who rear-ended her.
Before I could react, Pei Yanli had already arrived, his voice tinged with concern: "Are you alright? Are you hurt?"
Shang Shang shook her head and smiled, her eyes crinkling: "It's okay, luckily the car was going very slowly."
Pei Yanli then apologized: "I'm sorry, I was a little distracted just now and bumped into you."
His apology made Shang Shang a little embarrassed: "It's okay, let's pull the car over to the side of the road first."
Pei Yanli nodded with a gentle smile: "Okay."
The two moved the car to the side of the road and then got out to resolve the rear-end collision issue.
Pei Yanli took his car phone from the car and smiled at Shang Shang: "Can we exchange phone numbers? Your car is quite expensive. If you have any problems with repairs later, you can contact me."
Shang Shang recently lent her car to Zhou Zhiyun. She was driving a car that she borrowed from Shang Xingzhou, and it was indeed a very expensive, fully imported car.
Then she remembered that Pei Yanli was a university teacher and his income probably wasn't very high, so she knew he definitely couldn't afford to pay the compensation. She smiled softly and said, "It's okay, there's insurance."
Pei Yanli looked at Shang Shang's warm smile. Sunlight fell on her rosy face, and her smile was as bright as it had been ten years ago.
He knew that Shang Shang would definitely not remember him.
She smiled gently and said, "Let's keep each other's phone numbers. You can contact me if anything happens."
Just as Shang Shang was about to refuse, she suddenly remembered what Shen Fanxing had said: fate is something you have to grasp yourself.
Now I'll have the phone number in my hands, right?
She smiled and went to the car to get her phone, then leaned close to Pei Yanli and said, "Let's exchange phone numbers so we can contact each other if we have any problems."
Pei Yanli looked at Shang Shang with a smile in his eyes. She was a soft, slow-moving little girl, as gentle as a little rabbit.
This seemingly delicate little girl, ten years ago, was able to wield a baseball bat and fight off those who were bullying him, crying as she did so: "You guys are going too far, how can five people bully one person?"
Despite looking rather timid, he dared to stroll around the campus with a venomous snake without batting an eye.
As Shang Shang listened to Pei Yanli's gentle, deep voice reading out phone numbers, she lowered her head and tapped the numbers on her phone screen with her slender white fingers, but inside she was overjoyed.
She called Shen Fanxing a moment later; she's really made something of herself now, managing to get Pei Yanli's phone number.
After writing down Shang Shang's phone number, Pei Yanli looked at her and saw that Shang Shang was texting with her head down, the corners of her mouth slightly upturned, as if she was in a good mood.
Then, in a soft voice, he asked, "Should we notify your family? They can come and help you with this?"
Shang Shang put away her phone and waved her hand: "No need, no need, the insurance company will handle it in a bit."
Pei Yanli checked the time: "Will this make you late for work? How about I stay and handle this, and you go to work first?"
Shang Shang felt embarrassed and said, "It's okay, I'm not in a hurry."
As she spoke, she secretly glanced at Pei Yanli. He was indeed very tall and slender, and up close, he looked even more handsome.
He wore a simple light gray shirt with an air of sophistication.
Pei Yanli asked Shang Shang to wait a moment while he went to a convenience store by the roadside to buy two bottles of water. He then unscrewed the caps and handed them to Shang Shang.
Then the two started chatting.
Pei Yanli seemed to know how to find topics: "There is a faint herbal scent in your car, which is very refreshing and smells nice."
Shang Shang's eyes lit up: "That's a spice blend I made myself. It really can refresh you and relax your mind."
Pei Yanli seemed very interested: "You know how to do this? Are you studying medicine?"
Shang Shang nodded: "Yes."
Pei Yanli paused for a moment: "Very good. I almost went to study medicine back then too."
The guide couldn't help but ask, "So what did you study? Why didn't you study medicine?"
She was secretly delighted; she was a master at getting information out of people, and this way she could find out what Pei Yanli's major was.
Pei Yanli smiled and said, "For various reasons, I ultimately chose physics and am now doing astronomical research."
Shang Shang exclaimed, "Then you must be very good at studying. People who study physics are all very good."
Pei Yanli looked at her obedient little face, even her surprised expression was so adorable, and smiled with his eyes lowered.
"Yeah, it's just a bit boring."
Shang Shang smiled, her eyes crinkling: "As long as you enjoy it, it won't be boring. By the way, did you take your nephew to the hospital last night? Is he alright?"
She wasn't sure if Pei Zhili recognized her, but she still had to mention it, since Pei Che was her nephew.
Pei Yanli was surprised when Shang Shang suddenly mentioned Pei Che, but he really didn't know anything about Pei Che's situation, so he casually replied, "No problem."
During the chat, someone from the insurance company came over, took photos to determine liability, and sent Pei Yanli a price list after the damage assessment a week later.
Shang Shang listened as Pei Yanli told the insurance agent the address: Tsinghua University Expert Building...
She felt a little happy; it turned out that Pei Yanli was teaching at Tsinghua University.
After the staff finished handling the situation, they drove Shangshang's car directly to the store for damage assessment.
Pei Yanli was going to drive himself to the shop for repairs, so he turned to Shang Shang and asked, "Where do you work? I'll take you there?"
Shang Shang suppressed a smile: "Won't being at Fangcao Lake interfere with your work?"
Pei Yanli smiled and opened the passenger door: "I just returned to the country to report for duty and haven't officially started work yet, so I'm not busy."
Shang Shang lowered her head, smiled, and got into the car, only to find a pink bunny cushion on the passenger seat. To be precise, it was a white bunny wearing a pink dress and holding a carrot, looking adorable.
He paused for a moment, then carefully sat down. His heart sank. Did Pei Yanli have a girlfriend?
Although she didn't like plush toys, she had to admit that the little bunny looked so cute and adorable.
Pei Yanli walked around the front of the car to the driver's seat and got in. He saw Shang Shang trying to sit forward, not daring to touch the backrest. He smiled and explained, "I just bought this car last month when I returned to China. I bought this backrest yesterday when I went to the supermarket. I thought it was cute, so I bought it."
Shang Shang suddenly turned her head, looking at him with surprise: "You bought this?"
Pei Yanli nodded and smiled; "I felt the car was empty, so I bought it."
Shang Shang hugged the cushion with great interest; it was surprising that a grown man would like such a cute doll.
Then, suddenly remembering that Pei Yanli had just returned to China, she became somewhat interested: "You were abroad before?"
Pei Yanli shook his head: "I went to high school in Beijing, university in Shanghai, and my master's and doctoral studies were done abroad."
Shang Shang exclaimed again, "Wow! You're really good at studying!"
Pei Yanli smiled but didn't say anything. He had never planned his life before he turned eighteen. It was only after he turned eighteen that he learned to plan.
In his plan, every step was driven by business.
Shang Shang exclaimed, "Where did you go to high school? Maybe we're alumni?"
