Chapter 82 Awkwardness

Chapter 82 Awkwardness

Jiang Donghua and Sun Xiaoyue got dressed and left in a hurry, each carrying a basket on their backs.

Liang Dazhuang exclaimed in amazement, but because Jiang Zhizhi was there, he didn't say anything. He pulled Liang Xiaowu and said, "Come on, let's go and look for a pheasant or something."

As he spoke, he pulled a slingshot out of his pocket: "Let's leave the bicycle here and look around. I remember we found a badger's den around here last time."

Jiang Zhizhi saw Liang Xiaowu also take out a slingshot from his pocket: "You guys all have one, what about me?"

Liang Xiaowu touched his slingshot with some care: "Sis, this requires a lot of strength, and if you use the wrong force, the rubber band will break."

Jiang Zhizhi glanced at it and saw that the slingshot's rubber band was made from bicycle or car inner tubes, and several strands were twisted together, which would greatly increase the elasticity when pulled apart.

He smiled without saying anything and didn't try to provoke Liang Xiaowu.

She followed Liang Dazhuang deeper into the forest. After taking only a few steps, a long-tailed pheasant fluttered overhead.

Liang Dazhuang quickly took out some pebbles from his pocket and put them into the slingshot. He then drew the bow and aimed, but the long-tailed pheasant had already flown away and disappeared from sight.

He was somewhat frustrated: "Oh dear, I discovered it too late! Otherwise, I definitely would have been able to hit it."

Jiang Zhizhi reached out her hand: "Let me try."

Liang Dazhuang hesitated: "Sister, this will require a lot of strength."

Although hesitant, he still handed it to Jiang Zhizhi, and then took out a stone the size of a quail egg from his pocket and handed it to Jiang Zhizhi: "Sister, you can try it."

Jiang Zhizhi weighed the stone in her hand: "Give me another one."

Liang Dazhuang had more than a dozen in his pockets, mainly because they were too heavy and would rip his pants, and he would get scolded later.

After hesitating for a moment, he took out a small stone and gave it to Jiang Zhizhi.

Jiang Zhizhi smiled and launched herself into the dense canopy of trees.

Seeing that Jiang Zhizhi was wasting such a small stone, Liang Dazhuang was about to say that hitting it like that was wrong when he heard a flapping sound and birdsong. A flock of pheasants flew out from the dense canopy of trees.

Jiang Zhizhi aimed and struck swiftly, and the pheasant fell to the ground.

She then reached out to Liang Dazhuang: "Quick, Stone."

Liang Dazhuang kept calling out "Mommy, Mommy!" and hurriedly took all the small stones out of his pocket and handed them to Jiang Zhizhi.

Then he watched as Jiang Zhizhi quickly loaded stones and fired them, her speed making his eyes dazzle.

By the time the flock of pheasants had scattered and disappeared, Jiang Zhizhi had already shot down four or five of them.

Liang Dazhuang was dumbfounded and didn't know what to say. He laughed and went to pick up the pheasants that had fallen to the ground. There were five in total!

He had never hunted so many pheasants before; even one was a feat in itself.

Jiang Zhizhi planned to give Liang Dazhuang and Liang Xiaowu two pheasants each. She would take one back, stew it, and then go to Zhou Xiye with the meat and her heartfelt sincerity.

As soon as she mentioned dividing the chickens, Liang Dazhuang immediately waved his hand: "No, no, if I take so many chickens back, my dad will definitely scold me. Then I'll distribute these pheasants to the villagers. My dad is the kind of person who always tries to be a nice guy."

Liang Xiaowu agreed: "We can't take it back. If necessary, we'll find a place to grill it. Taking it back will not only get us scolded, but we won't even be able to eat it."

Before Jiang Zhizhi could speak, Liang Dazhuang slapped his forehead and said, "I have a good idea. Let's send these pheasants to Captain Zhou and the others. They've helped our village so much, it's only right that we send them a few pheasants."

Liang Xiaowu nodded repeatedly in agreement with Liang Dazhuang's words.

Seeing the two were so enthusiastic, Jiang Zhizhi wanted to say that they wouldn't accept it, but she swallowed her words.

Let the children experience it for themselves!

To Jiang Zhizhi's utter surprise, Liang Dazhuang and Liang Xiaowu had secretly planned to ride their bicycles to the outpost at the foot of the mountain.

Jiang Zhizhi got off the car, and Liang Xiaowu quickly got off and threw five pheasants at the gate of the outpost. Liang Dazhuang quickly turned his bicycle around, and Liang Xiaowu rushed onto the bike. The two of them sped away like the wind.

Jiang Zhizhi was left dumbfounded, along with five pheasants flapping their wings.

The sentry at the gate was from Zhang Zhao's company, but he didn't recognize Jiang Zhizhi. Upon seeing the five pheasants, he quickly called Zhang Zhao to come and deal with them.

Zhang Zhao was quite puzzled. Why would a woman deliver five chickens?

He ran all the way here, and when he saw Jiang Zhizhi, he was stunned for a moment: "Technician Jiang?"

Before Jiang Zhizhi could even speak, Zhang Zhao interrupted, pointing at the pheasant on the ground, "You're looking for our boss, right? He's here; he just finished his meeting."

While speaking, he shouted to the clerk who had followed him to take the pheasant back. He said that he could not accept gifts from others, but he could accept gifts from Jiang Zhizhi!

Jiang Zhizhi followed behind Zhang Zhao, feeling both amused and exasperated. As the tent drew closer, her heart began to pound uncontrollably.

For a moment, I felt my throat tighten and dry, and I was about to lose my voice.

She couldn't even remember the last time she was this nervous.

Zhang Zhao was always talkative. Seeing Jiang Zhizhi straighten her back and look serious, he smiled and said, "Technician Jiang, you shot all five pheasants? You're amazing!"

Jiang Zhizhi shook her head: "No, it was me, Dazhuang, Xiaowu and I who caught it together. They insisted on giving the pheasant to you, but they were afraid you wouldn't accept it, so they just threw it at the door and left."

Zhang Zhao had witnessed Jiang Zhizhi's prowess firsthand, so he completely ignored the two children: "You're really amazing. You've come at the perfect time. Our team is slaughtering a pig, and we'll have a good meal for lunch."

Jiang Zhizhi was a little puzzled: "Why are you slaughtering a pig if it's not a festival?"

She knew very well that the pigs raised by the military were only slaughtered during holidays and major operations.

Zhang Zhao chuckled: "Because we might have to rotate shifts, and then we won't be able to take the pigs with us."

Jiang Zhizhi's heart sank: "Where are you going for your shift change?"

If a major troop rotation is observed, it indicates a military operation.

Zhang Zhao shook his head: "I can't say."

Looking at the tent ahead, he stopped and said, "The team leader is inside. Technician Jiang, you can go over there."

After saying that, he called to the clerk who was carrying the chicken and quickly walked towards the canteen.

Jiang Zhizhi paused for a moment, then took a breath and walked towards Zhou Xiye's tent. She reached into her pocket, tightly gripping the folded letter. The sharp corner poked her palm, and the slight pain calmed her down.

We have to get through this hurdle no matter what, so we might as well just grit our teeth and push forward!

As I approached the tent entrance, just as I was about to call out, I heard Zhou Xiaochuan inside say anxiously and angrily, "Brother, did you even hear what I said? Jiang Zhizhi has dated so many men before, and they were all hooligans from Beijing. You really don't mind at all?"

Zhou Xiye's voice was full of impatience: "Zhou Xiaochuan! Did you not remember a single thing I said yesterday? Get out of here!"

Zhou Xiaochuan felt even more aggrieved: "Brother, what if I have evidence?"

Zhou Xiye stood up, grabbed Zhou Xiaochuan, and walked out. He lifted the curtain and saw Jiang Zhizhi standing awkwardly at the door...
