Chapter 90 Gentleness
Jiang Zhizhi was only stunned for a moment before she instantly understood why Zhou Xiye had handed her the handkerchief. Her eyes darted around, but she still looked bewildered: "What's wrong?"
Zhou Xiye naturally noticed the fleeting cunning in her eyes. He paused for a moment, and just as he raised his hand, Jiang Zhizhi's little face came close to his.
She looked at him with a smile, her eyes crinkling.
Zhou Xiye paused for a moment, then gently wiped the sauce from the corner of her mouth: "All done."
Jiang Zhizhi sat up straight with a smile: "Thank you."
Wang Changkun's eyes nearly popped out of his head as he watched from the other side. No wonder Zhang Zhao kept saying that the boss seemed like a completely different person!
Is this still their cold-faced, selfless, and iron-blooded captain?
After lunch, Zhou Xiye was busy checking that everything was loaded onto the truck, as well as the final reinforcements inside the cave.
Jiang Zhizhi returned to the tent by herself. Although it was a temporary shelter in the wild, the ground inside was flat and clean, and everything was neat and orderly.
He was the cleanest man she had ever met!
Jiang Zhizhi walked around for a while, but she wasn't sleepy. Thinking about how she had left in a hurry that morning without saying goodbye to Yang Fengmei, she decided to go and tell Yang Fengmei while everyone was taking their lunch break.
She went out and told the clerk in the next office that she was going out for a while.
...
When Yang Fengmei heard that Jiang Zhizhi had left, she grumbled and cursed all morning. After finishing her work after lunch, she quickly knitted a sweater.
Once you've finished knitting, go find Jiang Zhizhi.
Jiang Zhizhi was sitting in the yard knitting when she entered with a smile.
Yang Fengmei stood up excitedly, clutching the yarn: "My God, where have you been? I was furious when I heard you left this morning. Those bastards up there don't do anything good..."
Jiang Zhizhi quickly stopped her: "Auntie, you can't say things like that. Besides, I'm perfectly fine, aren't I?"
Seeing that Jiang Zhizhi's eyes were bright and she didn't seem sad at all, Yang Fengmei breathed a sigh of relief: "Then where did you go? Da Zhuang's dad came back and said you left, so I chased after you along the mountain ridge for several miles, but I couldn't find you..."
Jiang Zhizhi understood that what Yang Fengmei said was true, and she was very moved as she took her hand and said, "Auntie, there's something I've never told you the truth."
He pulled Yang Fengmei down to sit, and then briefly explained her relationship with Zhou Xiye.
Yang Fengmei was so shocked she almost jumped up, exclaiming "Oh my god!" several times, staring wide-eyed at Jiang Zhizhi: "You're Captain Zhou's betrothed?"
Jiang Zhizhi nodded a little shyly: "At the time, I thought that if we got married without knowing each other, there would be no feelings involved at all."
Yang Fengmei looked at Jiang Zhizhi carefully for a few moments, then slapped her thigh and said, "See what I said? I told you from the beginning that you and Captain Zhou were a perfect match. What feelings? You'll develop feelings just by sharing a bed at night."
Jiang Zhizhi was shocked; Yang Fengmei's words were a bit too crude!
Yang Fengmei smiled at Jiang Zhizhi: "It's alright, I'm the only one at home. Although what I'm saying may be harsh, it's the truth. Men, all they think about is what happens in bed. As for us women, we're expected to follow our husbands wherever they go, and once we have children, we're pretty much set off for life."
Jiang Zhizhi just smiled. Although she did not agree with Yang Fengmei's point of view, she did not refute her. After all, some things were already ingrained in her body like blood and bone, and she could not be persuaded at all.
After accepting that Jiang Zhizhi was Zhou Xiye's betrothed, Yang Fengmei became even more enthusiastic towards Jiang Zhizhi: "Then will I be able to see you more often in the future?"
Jiang Zhizhi wasn't quite sure: "I think I can. I'll come see you whenever I have time."
Yang Fengmei was delighted: "Okay, come whenever you have time, I'll cook you something delicious."
She then held up the sweater in her hand and gestured to Jiang Zhizhi: "I was so worried, afraid that you would really leave and never come back. This sweater was knitted for you. Now only the sleeves are left. Try it on."
Jiang Zhizhi was surprised to see that it was the navy blue pure wool yarn she had bought: "Auntie, this is for you, why are you knitting a sweater for me?"
Yang Fengmei chuckled and held up the half-finished sweater to Jiang Zhizhi, saying, "It looks about right to me, see how suitable it is. By the way, it's actually quite good that you and Captain Zhou are getting along. Liu Chunqin got her university recommendation letter and will be going to university in a few days."
Jiang Zhizhi was still somewhat surprised: "Did Uncle Liang give it to her?"
Yang Fengmei shook her head: "No, after I caught him last time, he was afraid I would make a scene at the Women's Federation, so he stopped. Plus, you and Captain Zhou saw him again, so he definitely wouldn't dare to approve the recommendation forms so openly. I don't know where he got them from."
He said with a hint of disdain, his eyes full of disgust: "He must have hooked up with someone again, he's shameless."
Jiang Zhizhi was surprised. Thinking about it, the only person in the vicinity who could help Liu Chunqin was Old Man Liang, who had a lot of power.
There was only one person left who could help her: Sun Xiaoyue.
But how did Sun Xiaoyue help her?
Yang Fengmei spoke with great resentment: "In recent years, there have always been shameless people trying to get close to Dazhuang's father. How old is Dazhuang's father? He's older than their fathers."
She kept nagging and complaining for ages.
Jiang Zhizhi talked with Yang Fengmei for a while before leaving the Liang family home.
On the way back, I met Sun Xiaoyue by the river. She was carrying a basin of clothes and was about to wash them. The clothes on the basin were men's clothes, which should have belonged to Jiang Donghua.
When Sun Xiaoyue saw Jiang Zhizhi, she hid the basin behind her back and looked at her warily: "What are you doing here?"
She still had some sense; having failed to get back at Jiang Zhizhi several times, she decided to let her off the hook for now, as long as Jiang Zhizhi didn't interfere with her life.
Especially after being lectured by Old Man Liang for half a day, she temporarily didn't want to go against Jiang Zhizhi.
Jiang Zhizhi laughed: "I can't even walk on this road? By the way, I wanted to ask you something."
Sun Xiaoyue frowned: "What is it?"
Jiang Zhizhi took a few steps closer to Sun Xiaoyue and asked, "How high a position will Jiang Donghua hold in the future?"
Her words startled Sun Xiaoyue so much that she almost dropped the basin in her hand. She stared wide-eyed at Jiang Zhizhi: "What did you say? I don't understand."
Jiang Zhizhi smiled and poked Sun Xiaoyue's chest with her index finger: "You understand, and you understand it very well."
Sun Xiaoyue's mind raced as she looked at Jiang Zhizhi in disbelief: "Could it be that you are too?"
Jiang Zhizhi blinked, her eyes full of innocence: "What am I?"
Sun Xiaoyue bit her tongue. She couldn't let Jiang Zhizhi lead her astray. She didn't believe that Jiang Zhizhi was also reborn. If she was reborn, how could she not know that Zhou Xiye would die? How could she not know that Jiang Donghua would rise to prominence in the future?
She knew that someone would definitely try to take Jiang Donghua away from her!
She tried to calm herself down: "It's nothing. Jiang Donghua and I fell in love freely. I didn't want anything from him."
Jiang Zhizhi scoffed: "Then you'd better hurry up and get married, or you'll end up pregnant before marriage and everything will be for naught."
Sun Xiaoyue retorted angrily, "You just need to mind your own business. What about your future...?"
Jiang Zhizhi smiled sincerely, her eyes crinkling: "What about the future?"
