Chapter 281 A Small Reunion in the Human World
Jiang Zhizhi looked at the scene in the room with some surprise, feeling as if she were dreaming. Not only did all these people who shouldn't be there appear, but they all appeared in the Zhou family.
Shang Shiying turned around first and saw Jiang Zhizhi walking over quickly with surprise: "Zhizhi, Xiye, you're back? I don't know what happened at my house, the water pipes froze and the power went out. Uncle Simin and the others finally managed to come over. We couldn't just not have anywhere to eat, so we thought we'd come to your house and join in the fun for the Lunar New Year."
Fang Hua replied, "It's our honor that you could come to our house for the Lunar New Year. You're being so polite..."
Jiang Zhizhi looked at Shang Shiyi and Bian Suxi, who were still standing by the dining table.
Shang Shiyi looked at her calmly, yet with a warm gaze.
Bian Suxi, however, was not so calm. The dumpling wrapper she was holding was deformed, and her eyes were bloodshot.
Today, she wasn't wearing a mask. One side of her face was badly burned, with red skin and a hideous scar. The other side had a scar at the corner of her eye, which had changed the shape of her eye.
Jiang Zhizhi felt a sharp pain in her heart, and she didn't know why she had such a strong feeling.
Logically speaking, she was just a time traveler, like an observer, so why would she have such a strong reaction to Bian Suxi?
Ignoring the flour on her hands, Shang Shiying grabbed Jiang Zhizhi's hand and said, "Come on, let's make dumplings together."
Zhou Xiye quickly helped Jiang Zhizhi take off her coat and scarf, then gently patted her shoulder: "Go ahead."
Jiang Zhizhi went to wash her hands, her mind a little blank, and came out. Bian Suxi had already regained her composure and looked at Fang Hua with a smile: "Your daughter-in-law is so beautiful. I was a little stunned just now. How can a young girl be so beautiful?"
Fang Hua smiled with some pride: "Zhizhi has been beautiful since she was little. Everyone in the compound used to praise her."
Shang Shiying nodded repeatedly: "That's true. I watched Zhizhi grow up. When she was so little, she would stay at my house and coax me to eat candy."
Jiang Zhizhi scratched her ear a little embarrassedly: "Auntie, please don't talk about the embarrassing things I did when I was a child, it's too embarrassing."
Shang Shiying laughed: "Anyway, I thought back then, I wish Zhizhi were my daughter."
Bian Suxi laughed and said, "Yes, I wish I could have such a beautiful daughter too."
Fang Hua was also quite puzzled. It seemed that the merchants had become much more enthusiastic after Jiang Zhizhi returned.
Especially Shang Shiying, although she was really good to Jiang Zhizhi before, she wasn't as good to Jiang Zhizhi as before when Jiang Zhizhi's reputation was bad.
It seems that Shang Shiyi has become much more easygoing after seeing Jiang Zhizhi.
Shang Shiyi's wife, who had been very polite and quiet since she entered the door, has suddenly become more talkative.
Fang Hua looked around suspiciously, but his smile didn't stop: "No way, Zhizhi is my daughter-in-law now, she's practically my daughter, you can't come and take her from me."
A joke made everyone laugh.
Shang Shiyi politely thanked Fang Hua: "When my Xingzhou came to your house before, he troubled you a lot."
Fang Hua didn't care: "So what? I think Xingzhou is a very good kid. He's polite, helpful, and always eager to do chores. You've raised him very well."
Shang Shiying sighed, "I really didn't expect that my nephew would come and stay at your house. Speaking of which, Shang Shiyi, you really went too far. You argued with me back then, and after all these years, you just said you wouldn't have any contact with me anymore?"
Then he said to Fang Hua, "I didn't want to forgive them at first, but I did it for Xing Zhou's sake. Now the two children are in the same recruit company and can be assigned together in the future, isn't that great?"
While they were chatting, Jiang Zhizhi handed Bian Suxi a dumpling wrapper and gave her a sweet smile: "My mother-in-law's dumpling filling is delicious. You must try it later."
Although there was no formal address, Bian Suxi was deeply moved, smiling with tears in her eyes: "Okay, let's have a good taste today."
Shang Shiying was afraid that if Jiang Zhizhi and Bian Suxi said a few more words, Bian Suxi would burst into tears, so she quickly advised, "Zhizhi, don't do it anymore, go help Simin and the others peel garlic."
Jiang Zhizhi smiled and agreed, patted the flour off her hands, and went to find Li Simin and the three little rascals.
Fang Hua smiled as she looked at her sons sitting on the sofa and said to Shang Shiying, "Sometimes, I really envy you. You have so many sons. You'll be blessed when you're old."
Shang Shiying quickly interrupted, "You're kidding me. They have a hard time finding wives. What family would want a woman with so many brothers? Look at those three. They're at the age where they can eat a lot. I have to use a big pot to cook for them every time."
"I can't even keep up with how fast they eat dumplings. How many days can your steamed buns last? My family has two large steamer baskets of steamed buns, and we only eat them for one day! We simply can't afford to feed them."
Fang Hua still said enviously, "It's good to have more kids, it's more lively."
Shang Shiying's head ached just thinking about it: "It's really lively. I don't know how God arranged things. I had five children, I could have at least given me two daughters, but instead I have five brats. Goodness, the house is like a battlefield every day..."
When talking about her children, Shang Shiying has a lot to say, her complaints mixed with happiness and contentment.
Jiang Zhizhi sat on the sofa, listening and laughing. The youngest, Xiao Wu, was only eight years old. He grumbled unhappily, "My mom is really something. She always goes out and says we can eat a lot, but every time it's my mom who tells me to eat as much as I want. She always says that boys need to grow taller and need to eat more."
Li Simin tapped him on the head: "Enough nonsense, you go out and play with your third and fourth brothers, come back for dinner in a bit."
Upon hearing that they didn't have to peel garlic, the three children happily ran outside.
Jiang Zhizhi handed Zhou Xiye a clove of garlic, asking curiously, "Why do you need to peel so much garlic?"
Li Simin explained with a smile, "You don't know this, do you? Now we peel these garlic cloves and put them in a plate, water them every day, and we can eat garlic sprouts by the New Year."
Jiang Zhizhi asked in surprise, "Isn't it a bit late now?"
Li Simin wasn't sure either: "It must be a bit late. My mom just came to see your house and didn't plant this garlic. She said that you used to love eating garlic sprouts stir-fried with eggs. When Aunt Fang heard that, she quickly took out the garlic and planned to plant it right away."
Jiang Zhizhi suddenly laughed and nudged Zhou Xiye with her elbow: "See? I'm a big darling now, everyone likes me."
Zhou Xiye nodded with a smile: "That's right."
Jiang Zhizhi suddenly remembered something else: "Has your research group started up again recently?"
Li Simin shook his head: "We changed our research direction, so none of the previous ones are usable anymore. Who would have thought that Researcher Tan was actually a spy?"
Jiang Zhizhi asked even more curiously, "You've been so busy lately... every day..."
Before she could even ask, Chen Limin brought Song Man over for a visit, bringing with her some surprising news: Song Man was going to bring her boyfriend home for their engagement in a couple of days.
