Zhou Miao finally spoke, "Where's the money?"
The middle-aged woman tossed her a small paper bag and walked away without looking back.
Zhou Miao grinned as she opened the paper package; inside were twelve brand-new ten-yuan bills.
"Heh, as expected of a little slut, only worth so little money, what bad luck."
She didn't seem to mind the bad luck associated with her mouth, and happily counted the money before putting it in her pocket.
Having witnessed the entire transaction, Xu Jianghai felt as if he had been struck by lightning; his mind was completely blank, and he couldn't even think straight.
"Deputy Regiment Commander Xie, is it what I saw?"
One moment he was praising his virtuous wife, the next she had sold his child.
She complained that the money from selling his child was too little.
Haha, Zhou Miao, great, you're doing very well.
He finally understood why he was there; Xie Lin knew Zhou Miao's plan and had sent him to witness it all firsthand.
That's heartbreaking.
Xie Lin rolled his eyes at him. Why ask such a pointless question when you have eyes to see?
Just as they were about to go down and arrest the person, they heard a commotion outside and stopped.
Xu Jianghai was as anxious as an ant on a hot pan, while Xie Lin was not worried at all; his junior master was waiting for them to walk right into his trap.
Thinking back to the day he was at the Xu family's house during the heavy rain, he felt he should let Xu Jianghai see for himself, to see how others cared for the child even more than he did, and to see if he was worthy of being the child's father.
Zhou Miao heard it too and hurriedly ran out. When she saw that it was her annoying neighbor from the family compound, her face turned pale with fright. She shrank back into the alley and dared not go out again, her ears perked up.
"Help! Someone's kidnapping a child! Help!"
Xie Guihua grabbed the woman and wouldn't let her leave.
She never expected that while taking her parents-in-law and nephew to the dock, and thinking of buying some food for her husband at the restaurant, she would encounter two children being held by strangers, who looked more like they were unconscious than asleep.
The woman kept saying that the children were theirs, but she couldn't say their names.
