Zhang Tong brought breakfast to the table. In the morning, they ate steamed buns, millet porridge, shrimp paste, and dried small fish.
Watching the time, I put everyone's portion into bowls to cool, but the porridge was getting cold and the children still hadn't come to eat breakfast. Even my usually punctual son-in-law was nowhere to be seen.
"Old Xiao, you eat first, I'll go call the kids."
Xiao Dan assumed that his son-in-law had been busy on the deserted island the night before and had overslept because he had returned late.
"It's the weekend, let them sleep in a bit longer, let's eat first."
Zhang Tong glanced at him sideways and said, "When have they ever slept in on weekends? Something must be going on. We can tolerate adults not being on time, but what about the children?"
She took the bottle of prepared milk and went out.
The Xie family's courtyard gate was closed, and three little kids sat at the entrance to the main room.
The two slightly larger ones sat on the threshold, propping their cheeks up, while the smaller one sat on the ugly instep, its tuft of hair sticking up in all directions. The three chickens were crookedly squeezed around the little master's feet.
All three of them had blank stares and wrinkled clothes, looking like they had just woken up.
"Little Master, Chou Chou, Nan Nan, why are you sitting at the door? Quickly open the door for your auntie."
The three were brought back to their senses. Little Master ran over to speak, and Chou Chou quickly picked up Nannan and approached.
When the owner arrived, the three chickens followed closely behind, as if they wanted to speak in human language: "Hungry, hungry."
"Auntie, keep your voice down. Brother and Shishi haven't gotten up yet. Don't wake them." Xiao Shi put her finger to her lips and shushed them.
Chou Chou and Nan Nan nodded together, while glancing towards the main room.
I was thinking to myself: They've been out for a long time, and they've been in the space for even longer. How much longer are those two going to sleep?
Guagua said that adults sleep by the number of times they sleep, but they don't know how many times they've slept. Sigh, they're so hungry.
Zhang Tong was completely exasperated. "Didn't you sleep in the same room? How come you didn't wake them when you got up?"
With Guagua's instructions, the three little ones are quite clever.
Chou Chou: "Nannan kicked off the blanket last night, so Shishi didn't sleep well."
Little Master: "My brother said he wants to go back to sleep."
Nannan kept nodding her head; she didn't mind taking the blame.
Zhang Tong became more and more confused as he listened.
Sleeping in early in the morning, when did my son-in-law become so outrageous?
A thought suddenly struck him, and his face flushed. He asked in a low voice, "How long have you been kicked out?"
The three little figures stiffened.
Junior: "How do you know we were kicked out?"
Ugly: "I was thrown out before dawn."
The little girl can't speak complicated words yet, she can only nod.
Zhang Tong suddenly felt embarrassed and changed the subject.
"Alright, let's go have breakfast with your aunt first, then come back to change your clothes later. Come here, little girl, let Grandma hold you."
It's normal for men to raise the flag early in the morning, she just didn't expect her son-in-law to be like this... cough cough.
The little chubby girl was quite heavy, so Chou Chou put her directly into the stroller. "Auntie, you don't need to carry her, she can sit, just push the stroller."
There's a very comfortable stroller in the space, but it can't be put out, which is a pity.
I'll get the blueprints and find a carpenter to make a simple one, and also get a cushion so that my daughter can sit more comfortably.
Just as the little girl was munching on her bottle, the door creaked open, and the person who had just gone back to sleep came bounding out, her face rosy and her eyes delicate.
As someone who's been through it all, Zhang Tong could immediately tell the difference from before.
"Mom, is it time for breakfast? Shishi is hungry." Her voice was a little hoarse.
Then look at the tall man who came out from behind. His steps were light and brisk, as if he were floating on spring water. His brows revealed a joy that he had never felt before.
Good morning, Mom.
The same deep and pleasant voice, but Zhang Tong heard a different charm in it, and the phrase "springtime heart flutter" quickly popped into his mind.
She coughed softly, replied "okay," and quickly went out, her face beaming with joy.
The couple finally broke through that barrier, and she can expect to become a grandmother soon.
What a joyous occasion!
Guagua, who got a beating for drugging Shishi to sleep: ...Aunt Zhang, you should thank me. If it weren't for that bowl of nourishing soup I made, you would have been waiting a long time.
At the dinner table, Zhang Tong would occasionally glance at his daughter's rosy and delicate face.
She knew her daughter was beautiful, and she never got tired of looking at her every day. At this moment, she thought her daughter was even more beautiful, and it wouldn't be an exaggeration to describe her as a lotus emerging from the water, a beauty that could make fish sink and geese fall from the sky.
"Shishi, Mom will make you some chicken soup for lunch to help you recover. Tell Mom what else you'd like to eat?"
"No need, quack... Stinky Egg will make it up for Shishi."
Guagua's venison soup was so delicious, she loved it, but it was a bit too hot for her, and she really wanted to snuggle up to Choudan.
This time, the application was different from before. Chou Dan was very happy, and she was also very happy. Chou Dan said it was because of the nourishing soup, and she wanted to drink that nourishing soup again.
There's no venison at home, and Guagua says it will take several hours to cook. Since there's electricity in the kitchen, we don't need to watch the fire, but Mom has to keep an eye on the stove the whole time, which is too hard.
Zhang Tong, however, thought she was referring to that thing between men and women, and her face unconsciously turned red again.
Xiao Dan didn't pay much attention to the young couple's expressions; he was preoccupied with what his son-in-law had said about what would happen that evening, and after dinner, he pulled them into the house.
"Xiao Xie, did it work?"
"It's done, Dad. We can make the arrangements now. We have ships, fighter jets, and engine oil. To avoid making it too outlandish, I've hidden them somewhat well, but if you look closely, you can still find them easily."
Xiao Dan was very excited. "It was arranged at yesterday's meeting. We will start aerial patrols today, covering all of our sea areas. I instructed them that any deserted islands must be searched at low altitude."
Xie Lin nodded, "Then there's no problem."
After the father-in-law and son-in-law finished their conversation and went outside, Xie Lin noticed that his mother-in-law's eyes were darting around, and she didn't dare to look him in the eye. Her whole face and neck were red.
